Depends what your wanting to do.

I used mine tonight with fluid filled oversized R4 tires and a tiller on the back.
And I was able to still pick up the back tires while curling the bucket.

How about a 5 foot box blade @ about 500#?
Doesn't stick out too far and has other uses.
I always have mine on for most loader work.
Good Luck!

I did extensive research on this when I built my ballast box. I kept adding weight till the machine stayed planted doing max loader work. I ended up with 750 lbs to keep it planted well even on uneven ground. Not saying you cant get away with a little less for lighter work. But that is what it takes to keep it planted nicely and be safe doing whatever.

I have a Titan ballast box filled with surplus gym weights, fire bricks and sand. It hangs about 3" further back off the tractor as I have a Pat's on the arms. I'm not sure how much it weighs, probably 400# to 500#. It's not enough for serious loader work. Rkidd's 750# sounds about right w/ weighted tires.

Am going to move sand and mud whit it .Am going to get a blade but not yet.

If you are going to move mud and sand you better get some serious weight. All that is super heavy!!!

Was the 750 lbs on a ballast box or did you have something attached further back on the 3pt?

I have about #750 of permanent counter weight, not counting any attachments.
Note in the photo it would have been too dangerous to carry the stump any distance so I transferred it to a larger tractor.

+1. I have a 5 foot blade on my BX2680. It needs more for full loads of dirt.

I have 1550# of Rimguard in my rear tires and a Rhino 950 rear blade at 1050# on the three point. I can lift 2850# - I've carefully lifted 3100# but the grapple left drag marks in the dirt - I kept that load(large chunk of my Ponderosa pine) lower than a snakes belly. I have internet data that allowed me to develop two weight charts - one for large rocks and the other for large chunks of Ponderosa pine. Basically those are the only two items I lift that will approach the max capacity of the tractor. By simple measurement and reference to either weight chart - I've got a fairly accurate estimate of what the load will be.

Rkidd, what sort of ballast box do you have? I'm asking because I know I'm going to be getting a b2650 and in the planning stages for items I'll need to go along with it...thanks.

My ballast box is home made. I welded up the frame and bought 10 pieces of rail road track that weigh a 100 lbs apiece at a good price and added the pieces till I had enough weight. That was the thing I found that any kind of hanging or stacking weight is a dollar a pound. Ouch. I found my weight for considerably cheaper.

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to go the dollar a pound route as I haven't learned to weld yet.. it's on my bucket list though.

Just curious. Are you saying you lifted 3100# plus the grapple or total was 3100# including the grapple? How much does your grapple weigh. Thanks.

wbuffetjr1 - My grapple - Land Pride SGC1560 is listed as weighing 820 pounds. From my lifting chart tables out of my front loader operators manual - I can lift 4300 pounds at a distance 12 inches forward of the FEL pivot pins. BTW - 12 inches forward of the FEL pivot pins is the physical center of the grapple.

So....... subtract 820 pounds from 4300 pounds equals 3480 pounds. I say 3100 pounds - just to be on the safe side.

I can vouch for the fact that a pine log weighing 2850# will NEVER get more than 6" off the ground if I'm operating the tractor. I moved a chunk that big last summer and it was not a lot of fun.

So - Yes - my lifting charts say I can lift the grapple @ 820# plus at least 3100#. Its never going to happen - I don't have the cojones plus, around here, there is never the need to go that heavy. That's why I have a log and rock weight chart - helps me stay out of trouble.
