I like numbers and know how much stuff weighs . . . I bought a small 500 KG 1100 Lb hanging scale, sometimes called a crane scale ... Do you have a scale? ⚖️

While this thread is about tractor attachment weights ... I have a cat who always seems to want to "help" ... One day in the kitchen I had a scale out ... This is Blazer, who has gained about 50% in the last 1.5 years since this was taken, he is curled up in my lap now as I write ...

IMG_20240901_040221383.jpg

I tested my new scale with a known weight ... Pretty close! 😺

IMG_20240610_154941288.jpg

Then I weighed my newly built ballast box for my SCUT ... I had to take off the bucket as it couldn't lift it otherwise ... 707.0 Lbs.

IMG_20240610_151247766.jpg

Then I weighed the factory 48" bucket which I had added a Bxpanded Piranha Tooth Bar too, plus two of @kennyd Bolt On Hooks and a receiver hitch ... 189.0 Lbs

IMG_20240610_151536817.jpg

My locally made 42" 4,000 Lb rated pallet forks ... 347.4 Lbs

IMG_20240610_151821327.jpg

Bush Hog CRB60 Road Grader, a 60" Land Plane ... 285.8 Lbs

IMG_20240610_154046635.jpg

A Bush Hog RTC50G a 48" tiller 355.2 Lbs.

IMG_20240610_154535096.jpg

No pictures of my Bush Hog BH115 5' rotary cutter, but it weighs 518.4 Lbs.

My Massey Ferguson BH2720 with factory 12" bucket was kinda tricky to weigh, but I got it! 651.0 Lbs (I had to leave the hoses hooked up so I could move it around to balance the weight!)

A 275 gallon tote 134.0 Lbs.

An old CAT 1/2 72" rear blade that I found out in the weeds and puckerbrush when I bought this place ... 396.4 Lbs.

IMG_20240610_153223206.jpg

Bxpanded ripper tooth for my BH 26.6 Lbs

IMG_20240610_155105399.jpg

Bxpanded 6" trenching bucket for my BH 38.4 Lbs.

IMG_20240610_155140447.jpg

It was tough with the back lighting to get the AgSMArt CAT 1 quick hitch, but it weighs 69.6

IMG_20240831_124829589.jpg

I got another quick hitch for my Kubota, also CAT 1 ... This a tad heavier at 72.4 Lbs.

IMG_20250728_191351625.jpg

A Land Pride FDR3690 a 90" rear finish mower, hard to get the numbers to show up in the lighting ... 1102.0 Lbs.

That is interesting. I would have figured a tiller weighs more than a bush hog. Never looked up the weights obviously...

And I still have envy over that rear finish mower. I would have to go very slow with my little tractor though. It does handle the lighter duty 6ft version just fine though.

Well, you gotta remember the tiller is only a 48" wide designed for a limited CAT 1 hitch ... The rotary cutter is 60" while it's there lighter duty series there still is a lot of steel, it's 8' long!

Good point. My tiller is an old Yanmar branded unit from the 80's and 5 feet wide. My weight estimates have just been seat of the pants pulling stuff around. Doubt I could feel 150 pounds. But I could sure feel the fulcrum of a bush hog or mower sticking way back there. I leave my finish mower on almost all the time. The little B2601 needs all the counterweight it can get.

Those scales are super handy!

Kinda wish I had bought the next size up!

When weighing the finish mower, I did it on conjunction with lifting it up off my trailer when I brought it home ... As my little SCUT wasn't up to the task ...

To run the come along to lower it, as it was quite a ways off the ground, I decided to brace one side of the deck with the forks, and stand on the deck ... The scale is rated for 500 KG, and that's what it said it weighed, but when I stepped my 200 Lbs on the deck ... "We got a problem Houston"!

The supplied aluminum carabineer started to stretch! I quickly grabbed a little chain and bypassed the scale!

IMG_20251001_134440084.jpg

By the time I got it on the ground, and the chain had tightened up, it was worse!

IMG_20251001_134817081.jpg

I guess it was just barely rated for the 500 KG - 1102 Lbs, but no safety margin!

I have since bought a steel screw style rated for 3600 Lbs!

One of these days, shortly ... I'm due to adjust the valves on my Little Baby Fergie, I think to make access easier, I'm gonna remove the loader, which I've only done once before, and weigh it too ...

Thanks for all the weights and looking forward to the loader weight.

If/when you have a chance could you please weigh the stock OEM backhoe bucket too?

Do you have a link for that scale?

Being overweight is shortening that cats life; just like being severely overweight will shorten yours.
It is nice to know the actual weight of different implements, thanks for that.

Yes, I'll add it here once I do, it will weigh an couple of ounces more than factory, because it has an extra hook on it ... And the above posted weight of the BH includes the extra thumb and Quick-On from Bxpanded ...

Yeah, he was kinda scrawny then, but now has a bit of a belly sag ... Right now they share 2.125 cups of kibble a day which is right in the middle of the recommended serving size for there size of adult cats of 2/3 - 3/4 cup each, times three cats, all brothers I got as kittens ... They are "barn cats" that have wormed there way into my home and heart!

I have three auto feeders set up to dispense food three times a day, plus heated water bowls in three different locations to carry them through the 2-4 weeks I'm usually gone ... Protected by 11,500 volts!

IMG_20251116_162140885~2.jpg

They jump on the bench, then jump to the feeding tables, raccoons can't jump! And don't like the electric fence, hardware cloth is wired to the earth ground!

IMG_20250515_105425876.jpg

When I'm home every few weeks, they come inside the house, and enjoy being spoiled, like last night I got home, leaving out shortly this morning ... They catch and eat a lot of the local rodents, I find bits here and there, just yesterday when I got home they had left a portion of a rat they caught out in the barn, but they like to snuggle in bed with me when they can ... They are 12-15 Lbs now at 2.5 years old ... Last night ...

Just came in to be by my now ... This is Blazer ...

IMG_20260115_033653136.jpg

I just found picture of my 1st QH that I use on my SCUT ... For some reason my camera has trouble taking pictures of the display on the scale in daylight, but in the barn it works??

This is the scale I bought from eBay ... 500kg 1100 LBS Digital Hanging Scale Heavy Industrial Crane Scale W/LCD SCREEN | eBay

@kennyd suggestions mentioned on a different forum led me to want to buy my own, this isn't the one he uses, but the one I ended up buying, it is made in china which I'm not crazy about, but it works, I bought it in June of 2024.

I replaced the carabineer with a steel one from the warehouse store ...

If anybody has weights of attachments, please feel free to add them in here!

Those newer massey's with the QH have a noticeable difference in lifting capacity.

My 1710 can lift very close to 1000lbs at waist height. I know it can lift close to 1200 about 6 inches off the ground.

That QH must be pretty heavy.

Timely post, I was just looking at these on Amazon the other day. I am in the process of making a counterweight for my Chinese mini ex and I want to know pretty closely the weight of it. I think I am going to get the 2200lb one. My loader will lift close to that. I think it will be a handy instrument to have around.

I'm not quite sure what you are saying ... The QH goes on the three point in the back ... Here are the specs for mine for both three point and loader ... Picture Below.

If you are talking about the Skid Steer Quick Attach (SSQA) on the loader, Yes, it limits the lift capacity as it pushes the load farther out away from the "pins" ... This is where my "pins" are, but notice where the "load" starts or even the SSQA plate?

IMG_20231231_113005433~2.jpg

This is what Massey Ferguson says about my GC 1725 MB, I have the FL1805 loader ...

Screenshot_20260115-123240~2.jpg

Unless you have a standardized weight item, or multiples of them, and or a scale ... It's only really a guess ...

Here are 15 - 40 Lb bags of wood pellets = 600 Lbs, plus the 347.4 Lb forks, plus the hardwood 40"X48" pallet, which I'd have to guess is 40-50 Lbs ... Using the lower 40 pound number for the pallet, that's 987.4 Lbs ... This is as high as I could lift it!

IMG_20220911_122127881.jpg

But ... Getting the load closer to the "pins" ... I can add another 40 Lb bag, but no additional height!

IMG_20220911_124032454.jpg

My point is twofold ... Knowing the actual weight, and how close it is to the "pins" make a whole lot of difference ...

Just using two different manufacturers forks, either weight wise, or build dimensions will make a difference in lift capacity, stacking it all close to the "pins" without the SSQA adapter will make a difference also ...

I got thinking about this again this morning ... The QH (for the 3 point weighs 69 Lbs pictured above)

According to TractorData.com Massey Ferguson GC1710 backhoe-loader tractor information the 3 point will lift 1190 "at the pins" (end of lower arms) mine is rated at 1 Lb more!

But you mentioned "waist height" so I'm guessing you're talking about the loader up front ...

There were two different loaders available for your model ... Using the numbers for the strongest one (newer version?) the DL95 Loader can lift 870 Lbs at the "pins" to full height of 72.8" (mines 922 Lbs at 74")

What's strange is the same model DL95 loader that was an option for mine, has a slightly higher lift capacity than even my FL1805, not sure if it's a typo on either, or they upped the lift capacity on the newer tractors ... From the broucher I pictured above.

Curious how you measured the weight on yours?

When I said quick hitch, I thought it was obvious it was referring to the front loader difference between the newer models with the "quick" part and the older version with the "pin on" style. That was what you were showing and referencing.

I know when I had to lift a wood stove into my cabin, a stove that weighs 967lbs according to the shipping box, it did it with ease. It was at my cabin so I used bolt on pallet forks with the bucket. The height of the deck is around 4.5 feet.

I also use the tractor up there to move around logs. I know through simple math that if the BH is around 650lbs (with thumb), a weight greater than 1200lbs is required to lift the back end of the tractor up. There is a formula for this...

  • Formula:
    W1×D1=W2×D2
  • W1 & W2: The weights of the objects on either side of the pivot.
  • D1 & D2: The distances of those weights from the pivot point.
  • Example: A 50lb box (W2) 3ft from the pivot (D2) needs a 150lb weight (W1) 1ft away (D1) to balance (150lb * 1ft = 50lb * 3ft)

So (1200 * 1.1) = (650 * 2) Where 1.1' is the distance the load is from the front pins and the 2' is the distance from the rear lifting arms.
= 1300.

I could probably just barley get 1300 off the ground, but I can get 1200 off the ground about 6 inches.

The more the backhoe weights, the more you can lift. There are limitations to the machine handling the load, however.

ADM (Archer Daniels Midland) runs a huge grain elevator in our small college town. I've driven my Kubota M6040 in town and onto their scales. With the grapple and rear blade attached - - 10,078.

I have nothing on the property that would hold that much weight without some major construction.
