Yes, it sounds really beautiful. I saw California in the 60s. I remember driving though a redwood tree, Yosemite, Sequoia, Napa Valley, Death Valley, etc.

Fuddyduddy, seems you really toured California back then. Okay, for the pics you wanted - I will try to post a few shots from my dog walk on one corner of the property. And one of a fraction of my wife's flowers, one of the morning 'goat greeters', and one from top of our 'dog park' - I call that my beer pavilion - where I can be with the dogs and have a beer.

Peter, this is the view from my dog park 'beer garden' (or margarita hutch at times). I love sitting up there at the end of the day with the dogs. Regarding the terraces - they were here. We added steps to some of the tiers and graded slopes for access. I am guessing they were intended for an orchard but not sure. We thought about an orchard there but instead put it nearer the house.

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. The most satisfying aspect is that it was almost exclusively DIY - step by step, project by project - and a never ending list of "what I would like to do next. . . ".
