Hi my hour meter stopped working but the tach still works on my 6500. Quick thoughts on what this might be?

Is it the old mechanical meter or digital? Give it a tap and see what happens. You may also take the screws out of the dash pull it out and unplug the harnesses then re attach incase something is dirty.

The mechanical style may be cable driven and could have broken. If it's electrical check the wiring for a broken wire from the source (probably off the ign key switch) or the ground wire.

That is a pretty common problem with the older 00 series. I think the board in the panel breaks down. You can replace the instrument panel or just add a after market hour meter to keep up with service intervals.

Thank you I will check the cable out. Hopefully not the board. I assumed that the hour meter ran of the tach cable but it must have a different connection.

Tack will operate from the alternator. Are any other functions not working?

Not really, hour meter is it. Hopefully it's that cable as the board sounds like something more expensive or not available.

Hi Tim....I also lost the hour meter a couple of years ago. Took off the
instrument panel and saw nothing obviously wrong. I then hooked up
a diff. meter.

Hi! Thanks for letting me know this. I plan on removing the instrument cluster to day to see what kind of cluster I am in. Also replacing my seat as mine is badly cracked. Not sure what to replace with but it has to go.

My seat is fine. The reason being, that it is covered by a small tarp when not in use.
I'm short on one end, so I sit on an old wheelchair foam seat. Hense the cover.

Thanks, I started another thread with a picture of my seat if you want to check it out. I've tried covering it but must not have tried enough. Plastic bags etc and the cover always blows off. I got the seat covers but it seems like Mahindra might have changed seats on that machine so the covers didn't fit. I am going to remove the bottom pad and see what the condition of the rest of the seat is. It's a pricey seat to replace. Trying to make it so I can keep this shedded more often.
