guys, I'm looking at a 30x50 pole barn by Hoover Buildings, in Upstate SC. In our region, we have 4 distinct seasons, with high humidity in the Summer. The insulation that they can add as part of a package is rated at R7. This would be in the ceiling and side walls. Is R7 enough to fight condensation issues by itself, or are you guys running a fill ridge vent as well? I don't plan on heating and cooling it mechanically, but would like it to stay reasonable year round.

You will still get some condensation, but hopefully they run plastic over the top of the insulation so the moisture can drip onto the plastic and work it's way down to the outside of the building without getting the insulation wet. I would think it would be minimal and probably something you would never notice if it was done correctly

I think the stuff I use is R10. It's a roll with foil on the outside and white on inside. I still run a full ridge vent.

Barnbuilder, do you get any condensation at times? Do you think the ridge vent was necessary without eave venting?

Haven't seen any but not around much after I leave job. No complaints but I also use a perforated soffit.
