Does any one own one? Any regrets? I know they aren't
as heavy as a brand name. They say it weighs 400lbs. I figure I can add weght if I need to. I own a 790 JD but I would like to lend it to my father inlaw He owns a Ford 3000 industrial two wheel drive gas approx. 40 HP. He will be touching up a driveway, I want to smooth out some rough
spots in my field.
Thanks in advance!

I have one. At $249.99 it was a bargain.
No regrets- it has performed flawlessly maintaining a 1-mile camp road for about 50 camps.

I agree! It's one of the better items at a Homier tool sale.
There's lots of junk there, but I've had great luck with my box blade. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Between the last two shows i've seen in my area, homier has changed their implement line.. the box blades and mowers look great. The box blade reminds me of the red KK line.. and the mowers look generically like a woods... weird... guess they are stepping up a bit.

Thank you for the feed back. Homier is having a sale Wed. in Waterville, Maine. I hope they have some of these at their sale. You guys gave me the confidence to purchase one.

Thanks again,

I have one and it was a total waste of money. The welds were so bad I couldnt get the pins to go through the holes. I contacted homier and they agreed to refund me 1/2 my money and I didnt have to ship back the blade. I had some welding done on it but its still a very lightweight unit.

The ones I've seen in the last month are 100% better and different than their previous ones.. almost look like the red KK ones..

Don't want to hijack this thread, but does Homier inform you of a sale/show the day before? They had a local show but they let me know the day before.

Their email notification procedure is poor.
Usually, their folder comes out in the local papers about 4-5 days before the sale starts.

They e-mailed me a few days before.

I just got back from the first day of the show. They didn't have any box blades. I asked if they got any for the previous show in Bangor, Maine. He said they got one( if you can believe him). Why do they advertise stuff they don't have? I called the customer service and they do have them in stock. I can imagine the cost of shipping one to Maine$$$.

I've been thinking about going to the sale tomorrow. Is it worth my time to go and look around? I'm not looking for anything in particular.

I would believe they had 1. I've been to a few shows, and they will have afeatured sale item.. or something really cheap, to draw people.. like a real super cheap drill press or special cordless tool.. and yes.. they will only have 1 or 2 of them.. they just use it to get the peopl ethere sometimes.. others it is simply a supply issue.

MaineGuy:

If you don't have a better thing to do you might want to poke around. I would have to add it is one of the smallest ones I've been to. Last year they had alot more merchandise. They had one tractor a 25HP. Last year they had about five. They did have one 3 point pallet forks for $39.95 ,wish I could think of a reason to own them. They did have several mini motorcyles and four wheelers I guess they are more profitable.

Will they give you a raincheck? I thought these kinds of sales tactics were illegal. I seem to recall a local electronics store doing this and getting into trouble with the state attorney general.

Not sure... But I'm guessing they would say that it is available online.. or that the add mentioned limited; quantities or something.. yeah.. I gues "1" would be real limited!

Just got a notice that they will be in Littleton NH on September 9-10.
Wonder if they will have one (or more) catch up with them there in the restock truck?

I went to one their shows yesterday in Gonzales, LA near Baton Rouge. They had several of the 5' box blades on the show floor. Looked a little on the light side but fairly well put together. The tooth holder anchor pin supports are very thin steel that I think could rust all the way through in a few years? A closer look is recommended before buying.

The finish mower has a weird belt routing arrangement. Too many idlers. One of the 4" idlers has a belt angle greater than 180 degrees. Compared to my Woods RM-660 it's belting seems just too complex. Wonder how many hours before the belt or bearings fail? This may or may not be a bargain. I've learned you generally get what you pay for.

It's true that belt arangement and routeing does make a difference.. but so does make and composition o fthe belt. For instance.. when I get a belt for my 1966 IH-cub belly mower.. I get a power service belt. Not only does it make bends.. it also makes 90' direction changes. The pto on that tractor has a pulley on it.. belt goes down to the deck.. has tow idlers that thange the belts plane of rotation, and then sends it up to a small pulley at the blade drive hub. The belt salesman told me that an ordinary mower deck belt of the same size would fail in days under that configuration..

I've always thought it might be neat to convert a cheap finish mower to a chain drive setup with sprockets and bike chains... I wonder if anyone has done that?
