Massey Ferguson 1526
I would like to buy a cab (Enclosure ) for my Massey Ferguson 1526 tractor for the winter . I just installed a snow blower and I know from having a walk behind blower if it is windy you tend to look like frosty the snow man in a hurry....
it's not so bad if the temp is not minus 30 degrees but if it is, it make life miserable .
Does anyone know of a reasonable priced , unit that I could install over my sun shade ! ... I don't want to have to take the sun shade off to install the cab .

Thanks

I built my own cab from lexan over a wood frame,, works good
However since,,, I have been reading on this site of people buying soft sided golf cart covers and fitting them over the sun shade which I think would work great ,,especially if you only want it for winter use. If I was doing it again I would go this way ,,,cheaper and less noise in cab

Check Northern Tool site and Amazon for golf cart covers. Let us know if you go that route and photos of it.

Find an awning fabricator locally and give him a detailed sketch of your tractor or better still bring your tractor to him to get a custom enclosure made.
They have the clear materials for widows etc and all attachments and closures available to fabricate a cool cab.
Since awnings and carports are super competitive by nature you should enjoy decent pricing with a good tight fit.
Been there done that!

Wife and I just finished a soft cab for my White 185 garden tractor. Frame is out of electrical steel tubing and the cab is from 10mil vinyl and a treated duck fabric, both from Walmart. wish i had done this 20 yrs ago but we think it worked out well. Nice to be free of snow and wind. Will try to get photos uploaded tomorrow. Have under 100 dollars in material and about 18 hrs of labor, most of it in sewing.

IMAG0005.JPGHere's a link to a cab I made from velcro and vinyl a couple years ago. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/build-yourself/266143-velcro-vinyl-cab-max.html
Now I'll give an update;
It has worked out very well except for one thing. I found out that the clear vinyl shrinks when not attached to something and wrinkles up the velcro. It still works OK but is a little smaller than when made. If and when I do it again, I would permanently attach the vinyl to furring strip frames then either velcro or screw the frames in place for summer removal.
I have drop shutters that close my porch in the winter made this on 1x3 furring strips and the vinyl is still like new after 7-8 years.

I just started building this cab for my john Deere 455. I started working on it around the first of November first, it's almost done. I can't weight to test it out.

I like the looks of your cab.
What you folks have done really looks great and maybe just what I need.
I have my electrical steel tubing frame almost completed with a golf cart plastic top and was undecided on a covering material.
I was wondering about the sewing of the treated duck fabric and the 10 mil clear vinyl, if you were able to do it on a regular light duty home sewing machine ?
