Hitting all the common BX problems

I tend to agree with you. I think they did cover this repair for awhile, but the time had since passed. I didn't press the issue since the repair kit was not very expensive. I also learned about my new used tractor by having to take it apart. Right now, the sticking hydro pedal is my next project. Dealer said he was ordering the bearing to fix this. Seems like another liability issue that Kubota would do a recall on.
I can't say enough about my dealer. I have bought two used tractors from them and they have been great to work with. Maybe next time I will buy new, but intend on keeping the BX 2200 for quite some time. It is a 2000 model with only 53 hours on the clock. Going to buy a loader for it very soon.

Just for informations sake...
My BX 2200 is a 2001 with about 150 hrs on it. I recently had my dealer come and pick it up to do routine maintainance (mowing season is here in our area). I didn't buy it at this dealer. I bought it used from an individual in another county. This is the first time I have used my local dealer. I told my dealer about the leaky tank. They fixed it at no charge, and did not charge me a trip fee. They said that Kubota knew of the problem and it was covered. It was the sending unit, I think. I am going to call them back about the Hydro sticking. Mine has just started doing it. I am hoping that it is covered also, since, as Junkman said, it is a safety issue. I will let you know what I find out.

Did the hydro pedal stick in a constant position or did it slooowly return to neutral?

Very slowly returns to neutral in forward position. Most of the time, I have to tap it back. Sounds like you have a great dealer there!

There is a post about the pedal issues on this forum. I also have the "slow to return to center pedal" on my Bx22 and my dealer says it is just in need of lube on the linkages. Nothing against him, but reading on TBN I think it is more then just loss of lube.

The sending unit is mounted on top of the tank, it can come loose the dealer gave me a replacement holding bracket to install. No charge but 180.00 for them to put it on .Hope this helps. Tom

How many people have had the leaking fuel sending unit problem? I just got off the phone with my dealer and he said Kubota will not pay to fix this problem because it is out of warranty. All Kubota will do is take 10% the price of the part. I am looking at $200 for part and labor.

I see this as a safety hazard, leaking fuel is not a good think. I plan on calling Kubota to see if they will change this policy. As an insurance professional I see this as a product liability suit waiting to happen. They admit they have a problem, i.e. repair kit, but do not want to fix it? I wonder what the Consumer Product Safety Commission will think of this?? Oh by the way this is the 2nd fuel leak with the tractor, the first was with a bad tank, that was covered under warranty.

I agree, however, I think the sticking HST pedal is a much bigger safety issue in real terms, I've actually thought of contacting the CPSC as well on that issue. Mine pretty much stays down until you push down on the back, and the dealer was unable to fix it. I'm out of warranty now, so I suspect they'd be willing to take more drastic action at my expense, like replacing the 'cradle bearing' inside the trans, where I think the real problem lies. I'm afraid to let the kids drive the thing around....

I see all these things as potential problems, but until the Consumer Protection Agency gets flooded with complaints, there is nothing that is going to be done. It will take a concerted effort of all the BX owners filing complaints before they will even get the regulators attention. It is also going to take some accidents before they will open a investigation into the problem. Government moves slowly and it takes a big push to even get noticed. I will join the bandwagon if the rest of the BX owners will do the same. A few complaints isn't going to get them to do anything. I am lucky, I don't have the leaking fuel problem, but I do have a sticking hydro pedal and a key that falls out so you can't shut down the machine.

I must have bought the BX2200 in Nov 2000. I had the leaking fuel level sensor last fall. I went to buy the kit at a dealer a couple miles from where I work. I think they told me it would be covered by warrenty for three years, but I had to go to the dealer that sold it to me. I didn't want to pay them $50 or so to transport the tractor, so I talked the selling dealer into giving me the kit and I installed it myself.

Mine leaked while still under warrenty. Had it fixed. It leaks again. Solution - don't fill the tank.

Haven't had the sticking pedal or front-end problems, yet (knocking on simulated wood grain).

I am wearing out the leading edge of my bucket. Guess that happens when you move tons of roadbase, clay fill and 10" rocks. I'm thinking of welding a new bead along it.

I also had a hyd line burst. Last I looked there were only two of us that reported something like that on this forum. Still trying to clean the oil out of all the places it spewed in to. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

With all of these problems people are discussing here I am beginning to think maybe I shouldn't have bought my BX1500 two months ago. I did a lot of reading on this site as well as two others but I never uncovered a topic like this one. Makes me think that I have some serious issues to look forward to in the future especially considering that some of you put a lot more hours on your tractors than I do so you are at least hitting the problems before your warranties run out, for some of you anyway. I on the other hand, will probably see my two/three year warranties run out before I encounter many of these problems.

I have about 220 hours on the tractor with 99% mowing. I have had two fuel leaks, and the front axle steering problem, since March of 02. I went with Kubota because of the high quality comments on this board and others. Is it just these small subcompact line that have problems? I have been on TBN since March 02, most of the problems I see are with the BX model. I do not see problems with larger B models with the same frequency as with the BX. Is this because we have more BX people on this board? or do larger tractor owners just fix the problems and do not list them here? Or are BX owners, more vocal about problems?

My dealer took care of all the problems when the tractor was under warranty, which is great and expected. This new problem he says he can not do anything. I know Kubota can not fix a tractor forever, BUT this is a safety problem, leaking fuel is a problem that can result in a fire and or a environmental hazard. To tell me Kubota will do me a big favor and take $2 off the cost of the part is not sitting well. I will talk to the owner today to see if he can push this up the Kubota food chain. WHY ME???????????????????

Call Your Regional office and talk to the Service Reps.

I had to call Suwanee when The Hydraulic Control Valve assembly went.

The Dealer refused to warranty it, but I ended up with Kubota furnishing the $390.00 valve and splitting the labor with the Dealer.

A phone call is all it will cost You to settle this.

You'll still be glad you bought your 1500! These little problems can all be fixed, and you may never see some of them.
I have a 2200 and have had the fuel sending leak, the bad steering cylinder so far.
Otherwise it's been great and I have 500+ hours on it. It makes the green tractor subcompact look like a toy in terms of frame quality, components, etc.
