Kioti CK35 HST
Hi everyone!

I have just purchased a new Kioti CK35 HST after lot of net searching and reading threads on TBN.

I own around 300 acres of land, (half cleared, half bush) and have always made do with a quad bike and trailer, chainsaw and shovel to do all the fencing, firewood and general work. I also used to borrow the (late) father-in-law's old Case tractor (1940s?) to touch up the tracks when necessary

However a bushfire came through just before Christmas and took out all the fences and dropped trees everywhere. This left **** of a mess on the fence lines to be cleared before the new fences can go up.

I decided I wasn't getting any younger and began looking at what I could afford. I looked at the name brands and also Chinese and Korean brands available here in Oz and stumbled across the TBN. Prices ranged from way more than I could afford to just too cheap to be true!

It really stood out in the threads here that good local service was important - possibly even more than the brand. There are local (from 25 to 50 kms) dealers of the big guys, but the attractive cheap deals on Chinese were from dealers in Melbourne - the state capital and 280 kms away.

I had basically decided to take a chance on quality and service and go for a cheap one, when I realised I hadn't considered one small, local Kioti dealer. So almost as an afterthought, we paid them a visit.
The minute I (and the Chief Financial Officer, aka the missus) walked into the yard we started to get a good feeling about the place. It was a Saturday morning and they had a non stop stream of people coming in arranging servicing, buying parts, getting quotes etc. All were greeted on first name basis and some guys just seemed to be dropping in for a chat! But they were not too busy to sit us down, make us a coffee and ask us what we wanted to do with a tractor - not tell us what they wanted to sell. They roughly knew where we lived and about the fires in that area.

After taking a couple of models for a test drive in the vacant block next door and deciding the best package would be a 35 hp with FEL and 4 in 1 bucket, we were given prices on a manual and the HST with options for attachments. No pressure at all at any time. They explained their pre-delivery checklist, their on-site servicing procedure and after hours call out system.

Long story short - When we got home, we quickly decided that the couple of thousand dollars extra by buying local compared to other deals would be buying us real peace of mind.

I have only got 10 hours up but haven't had second thoughts yet. The Kioti looks well put together and I can't find a loose nut or bolt anywhere.
The only problems so far is that I keep bumping my knee on the key and I can't find enough free time to play - sorry, work:) If that's as bad as it gets, I'll be one happy camper.

Thanks everyone for the great information and help given so far.

Welcome, Congrats on the new tractor.
I found the same thing with the local dealer when I bought the Kubota. A little more $$ but a feeling that it was like home with no pressure to make a sale. Somethings are hard to put a price on.

Enjoy the new tool, but around here, no pictures means it didn't happen!

Welcome to the pack

Welcome and enjoy the new ride. I had a similar problem when I first got my DK and kept turning off the ignition when I turned around to check my stuff. I fixed the problem by mounting a rear-view mirror..

Congrats on the new tractor. I bought my CK30hst (30hp) new in 2005. About 800+ hours now and not a problem except for a fuel gauge sending unit. Keep up with the normal maintenance schedule and it will work well. Sometimes I wish the fel was stronger but it allows me more seat time. It's always done what I needed and is pretty strong for this size of a tractor. Have fun with the new toy and picking a good dealer was a good choice.

Congratulations on your new machine, and welcome to TBN, if there is anything we can help with, let us know. Lots of people on here willing to help.

To the forum from Alabama. Congrats on your new toy, I mean tractor. That was the reason I bought a Kubota instead of a Mahindra was the dealer. He has been easy to work with even when I changed my mind on attachments late in the game. Delivery 50 miles away was included not extra as with the other guy.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome.

And no, I won't be needing a snow plough or snow blower attachments any time soon! It has snowed once here in my memory (1964) and I remember just scraping up enough off the garden path to make a small snowman
Typical daily temperatures in winter would be from 2C overnight to 15-20C during the day and in summer the maximums are often over 40C (105F)

I will post some pics when I can, and thanks again. John.

Another welcome to the forum and Kioti ownership. I bought the CK30 in 2009 with 200 hours and now have almost 1200. I bought used but did some legwork beforehand and found a great dealer/service between where I live and the farm where I use the tractor most. It has been a warrior and the CK30 and 35 are great tools.

You'll like the tractor, although the key and flasher switch are really in bad spots, I have same problem. And 300 acres...well I'll just stop thinking about how maybe a little more HP wouldn't be bad on my 25:D

Hi Tony, thanks for the welcome.

I'm sure I will get used to not banging my knee on the key, but as I have seen this mentioned on many threads, you would think someone higher up would take note and change the design.
I have also managed a trick that I have seen posted before - catching the leg of your shorts on the range lever when getting off and nearly going down face first! Fortunately the shorts tore before my head hit the dirt:ashamed:

There would not normally be much heavy work to be done on the property so the 35hp is going to be all I need. Half is cleared, half is native bushland. We are not producing any income from the land, we just graze few sheep for our own meat (and feed about 200 freeloading kangaroos).

I have seen mentions in threads about state laws in the US that require brush to be cleared to prevent fires. Fortunately we only have to clear a 20 foot fire break around boundary fence lines - and it's not policed, so many ignore that anyway.

Regards, John.

Yes the loader up the shorts is about the only one I haven't done, mostly because I almost never where shorts, especially when I'm doing brush work with the tractor. But, I can't remember the last time it hit 90F up here:D
