It was eyeballed instead of calculated. Snow isn't a significant factor here. I'm building a small chicken coop next to my wood shed and want the roof pitches to match approximately. I'm not much of a carpenter, geometry class was 25 years ago and I never took trig. :laughing:

It doesn't have to be that complicated. Take a 12" level line from the low end of the existing roof towards the high side., mark the spot and plumb up from there. That should give you the answer. Most framing squares have all that info on them. It is a simple rise/run calculation, similar to stairs but you don't need to factor for the amount of steps because it is a straight slope. Once you have the roof pitch it is simple to duplicate.
