PS: Absolutely NO offense to the Texas Highway Dept. because how else do you learn certain things? MANY years ago driving across Texas, we hit a freak storm and the roads and especially the bridges froze to sheer ice. Cars all over. As we waited for them to clear the road of cars, a sand truck showed up at last and as instructed (I guess) spread sand on the icy bridge. Except these guys were new at the job, (no offense) and dumped the entire load on the bridge and spread it two feet thick before waving the first cars through. Naturally the cars sunk into the sand and we were finally detoured down some side roads out of the area.
I must admit we had a bit of a chuckle. I was tempted to run up and tell the guys how to do it but didn't. They learned the hard way. I admit we were shocked to run into such weather there!
My best wishes to the Texas Highway Dept guys if you happen to read this,...especially if you were the ones involved!
as we've had rain in the past severel weeks, we B in store for a big blizzard,![]()
Hush up! We're not that far from you. The Blizzard of '93 was plenty and then some, thank you very kindly.
Truth be told, you may be on to something. If these precip patterns continue, we better be loaded for bear.![]()
