Any self respecting cougar/mountain lion will be "on you" long before a weapon could do you any good. A cougar will either pass you by or stalk you. They have a lot more experience stalking game than most have defending themselves.

However - if it makes you feel better - go ahead and carry. If the cougar really wants you - it will make little or no difference if you are carrying. Especially at night.

Haven't heard of anyone being attacked by a coyote, most the time when I see one it is moving away from me as fast as it can go!

Same here . . . but I did see one time my Aussie being lured by one (there were 3-4 back in the woods) where it was headed . . . my 1/2 Rot, 1/2 GS had a different ending to it.

Pretty sure Bebe's Likud wrote the final rules on 'who owns what' based on when they conquered it. (IIRC God gave/wrote 'em first dibs or something like that.)
