Here comes the RAIN !!!

All I can say is.... whenever the catfish in my creek start swimming, it causes dust storms..... <sigh>

Not even one drop. The weather radar showed it west and north, but it never came over us. Oh well, maybe we'll have a wet Christmas!:(

Finally we getting some rain, not much so far, but the ground is wet.

Finally we getting some rain, not much so far, but the ground is wet.

I'm glad someone got some rain. This has been unusual. I made a quick trip to the grocery store for just a couple of items this morning about 8 a.m., and on the way back, about four=tenths of a mile or less from the house, I came through a downpour for maybe one-tenth of a mile. But around my house, I spent a good bit of the middle of the day outside, working on the yard next door, and I felt some rain drops, even saw some a few inches apart on the concrete; hard to decide whether it was enough to qualify as a "trace" or not.

We have gotten that "trace" a couple of times in the past week. It does not do much for the grass and garden but does cool things off for a few hours. That is unless it was mid morning then for the next several hours the humidy would be so bad you wished it never wouls of rained.

Looking at the radar this morning, it looks like you DFW guys got hit pretty good this morning and a strong front is on it's way here. I'm expecting it to get here in a few hours. The forecast is for heavy rains, strong winds, hail and ground lightning!!!!

Eddie, we may get more later, but right now the radar makes it appear that it's all going to stay south of us. Out here north of Dallas, I figure I got about .16" this morning and the NWS shows the Denton airport got .18". So, it may not be a lot, but we're sure glad of what we did get.

Sorry you guys didn't get very much, but anything is still a blessing. I can hear the thunder right now and it's pretty loud. Funny how much I enjoy that sound!!! The radar makes it look like it's getting stronger the closer it gets.

That morning storm left .4 of an inch. It went through here pretty quickly, but was also fairly strong. Then this evening, the weather allerts were going off. A big storm was in Pittsburg and heading this way. Lost of warnings, but when it hit, we just had some strong winds, thunder and lightning. I lasted half an hour and we received 1.3 inches. Two storms in one day for a total of 1.7 inches or water on the ground!!!!

Of course we've been wanting more rain and cooler weather, but actually we're quite lucky in north Texas. The Sunday Dallas Morning News yesterday ran a story titled Southern Texas taking extreme measures in extreme drought. At least the lakes (reservoirs) in this part of the state are just about at their normal levels, and we got some much appreciated rain off and on today. It's been scattered showers, some very small cells, but I figure my rain gauge got about .96" while the airport so far is only showing .13". And the forecast is that the showers may continue off and on the next 3 or 4 days.

In New Hampshire we have had nearly 12.4" of rain for a period starting June 1 through July 24. Oh and it is raining right now. Closing in on the wettest summer in history along with the coldest summer.

To think this spring I was telling some one how dry it is and I wished it would rain! She was quick to tell me to be careful with what I wish for.

Whew, that's a lot of rain. I figure since June 1, I've had 4.9", including .96" today, so less than 4" through July 24.

Bird it seems like all I have done is yard rake the driveway on a more than once a week time-frame. I think yesterday and today were the first two days that we have even opened windows this summer.

Just been one of those weather patterns that doesn't favor warm or dry weather, things are changing a bit now so we will have hot days for the rest of this week.

It's rainin' right now.:D

Hope it keeps up for a few hours. Can't tell what we are in for all of the doppler radar sites are malfunctioning, but did read a severe thunderstorm bulletin for the surrounding counties.

Will let y'all know the outcome.

It's quit raining here and appears to be all over. I just went out and poured about 1.88" of rain out of my gauge. Sure glad I got the yard all mowed, edged, and trimmed yesterday morning.:)

Lee, my cumulative total for the week is 2.25 inches. The last 1-1/4" was last night. That's awfully nice for the end of July. I hope that and more comes your way. It sure has been nice waking up to gentle rain the last three mornings.:)

I received .24 of an inch on Monday, then .98 yesterday evening. Right now, looking at the radar, it looks like we're about to get slammed with a frontal line that's very intense. While the last two days, the storms were above us on Monday, then below us yesterday, today we're dead center. Behind the front, is another area that appears to be growing and intensifying. I'd be very suprised if this doesn't fill up my ponds.

/ Here comes the RAIN !!! #300
We got a tad over 2" early this morning and 1.250" over the previous 24 hrs for a total of 3.25". We actually got some run off but I haven't been up to the pond to see how much it caught yet, hopefully it came up considerably.

I had went on a job in La Grange Sunday, you wouldn't believe how dry it is further South! It almost looked like winter time with all the brown. There wasn't even any bugs flying into my headlights like normal, kinda eary, didn't see any bugs till we got around Waco.

I am thankful for the rain we've had, 30% tonight and 40% tomorrow, so maybe more to add to the balance.

I know I have some Oaks that are showing stress, so let -r-rip!
