maybe buying a montana 4940 and was searching some info on it. brother in law has it and was just wondering about it and reading some of the posts on them found most of your members are very smart on the techinical side. info is key to anything and seems like your members have a lot. thanks

bro in law said it needed some hydraulic work and the gears may not work right. he is not very helpful with the mechanical side of it. book turner instead of wrench turner lol. my question is 1. how easily is it to find parts now that montana is out of business? 2. how hard are these tractors to work on compared to others? 3. what would be a good price considering something is wrong? i know you don't have all the facts(hrs, whats wrong) and i can't give them to you either. 5-10 grand with a gooseneck trailer is where i am thinking but input is welcomed.

Definitely find out if there is a problem with the transmission before you buy. Also, do a web search for parts (as well as discuss the parts availability with the folks in the TBN Montana forum).
Looking at the prices on TractorHouse, it looks like a cab version (2007-2009) asking price is about $16K. Just make sure the work required to fix it doesn't cost more then the tractor.
