Hello friends, I just joined up and already think this is a great site. Probably be so much great reading I'll be glued to my pc.
I go by FostersPharm, Foster, Fos, or just about anything else ya want to call me.
I own 15-17 acres m/l in rural Illinois. About 8-10 acres of that is in timber. 3-4 acres is in pasture/prairie grass. About 3 acres of yard/grass, plants, flowers, trees, shrubs etc.. ( My wife has so much stuff planted here-n-there, it's like mowing an obstacle course).
I own a Ford 9N, with a 5 ft. drag/push blade and a 5 ft. Woods finish mower. I wish it were a box blade and a brush cutter instead.
The finish mower doesn't quite cut as nice as a riding mower and doesn't have the power to cut much more than yard grass. The blade works well enough for snow, (which we haven't had any significant amount of in several yrs)but ain't much for leveling ground or smoothing out the rock driveway.
I have a 18 hp Simplicity lawn tractor and a Cub Cadet L1050. The simplicity keeps bending push rods. I've replaced it 2x with stainless rods and still have same issue. Soon as I can afford it, I'll take it back to the shop and let them go through it. Cause I can't figure it out.
I use a Hardy wood burning outdoor boiler for primary heating and residential hot water. For cutting and splitting firewood I use a Stihl 025, and 250 chainsaw, and a 6 lb splitting maul or an ax.
Hope to get a chance to meet some of you real soon.
