Well...the vote is in and the deed is done. Thanks to all of you for your input in this series. The end result is as follows:

New 5410 Vermeer baler
Used mc840 Vermeer 10' mower
H&S 10 wheel bi-fold rake w/hyd
H&S 4 basket tedder

As you know, I looked at all the major brands and I must say they are all good when it comes to cutters and balers. The baler I can run on my 60hp tractor and has a monitor, and some other options including net wrap or twine option. The wider rake will give me more windrow options and hopefully speed up the process.

Looking forward to getting in the field.
Again, thanks to all!

Be sure to post some pics when you get them home...

Equipment will be ready when I am as it is in stock. Having up graded monitor put on and all up dates done on baler. May put tedder on trailer to move, but rest of stuff will have to be towed. Mower is a couple of years old but in great shape and kept indoors. Ready to read owners operator manuals now and learn the tricks of directional mowing, raking, etc. Have heard you should mow, ted, rake and bale all in the same direction. So, may have to start a new thread to figure out the best way to operate this stuff now. Will post some pics in the near future. Lets hope for a good hay year. I already have 3 folks lined up to purchase hay.
Special thanks to all of you on this thread. More to follow.

Robert or any of the east coast guys ever heard of or been to an auction (or bid for that matter) put on by these guys. Apparently you can live bid through Ebay as if you are actually there. It's actually only a couple hours from my place but since the auction is tomorrow I can't go. They do seem to have some really nice stuff and apparently have frequent auctions.

I have heard of them, but reality for me is weekends.

And yes, they look to have some nice stuff. Would be curious as to the price some of that stuff goes for.

It's a catch 22 for me. I have the flexibility to take off and go but when I don't work, I don't get paid. The next one is in April and I plan on going. I will take my camera and get pictures and take notes on exactly what goes for what and report back. It may just be worth it even for non-local guys since you can bid online and have items shipped if the price is right. Robert has me hooked ;). I sure would like to have this . . .

I have always wanted one of the 60 or 70 Series New Hollands. They have a decent looking 8260 but who knows how good it will look in person.

I can't go, but sure would like to. Lets see what we can about the prices this stuff brings. My experince with auctions is many times people pay more than what it can be bought new for...crazy. Other times, can get a good deal.

The list the starting bid (20K) on Ebay as well as what they expect it to actually go for (20-35K). You can actually place an absintee bid prior to the bid starting as well. Here is the link with additional pics.

I will email them and see if they keep a record and will release it to us as to what the eventual sale price was. Maybe it will be listed on Ebay?
