I bought a 127 last year. I ran it but it always started hard. This year it does not start at all. Maybe it is normal but it turns over very slowly, about one revolution per second. I have rebuilt the starter/generator. I have a good charged battery in it. The points and condensor are new. I am getting good spark and good fuel. I think the timing is fine. If I remove the spark plug the engine turns over great. I have read in the service manual about compression relief. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

The engine in my tractor is a 12 hp kohler. I pulled the head off and cleaned up the valves and seats. It now turns over a lot better but it is still having a problem starting. Does anyone now how fast the engine should be turning over ? Any other suggestions would be great.

thanks

The older Kohlers had a spring set up on the end of the cam that was used to decompress. You might find that the spring is broke.
