Hand tool question??

   / Hand tool question?? #41
I seem to recall that Craftsman tightened up their tool warranty such that it is not as simple as walking in the store with a broken tool and walking out with a new one no questions asked. Can anyone comment on that?

It may have concerned returning tools to other retailers (such as a big box store that sells Craftsman tools) but I don't recall.
They tightened up about 14 years ago and it started to be a real bear. As a mechanic, having to argue with someone to get your tool replaced git very frustrating really quickly. After a 30 minute argument trying to get my ratchet replaced so I could go back to work and finish my repair I gave up on anything craftsman.

I can't speak on the warranty now that the brand was sold to lowes. But if it's like the kobalt warranty, then it's no questions asked, here's your replacement.

The lifetime warranty with the big three tool trucks does have an expiration date now though. They do a minor design change on a tool, update the part number. Then tell you that the model you own is no longer supported under warranty.
