my father in laws ym165 throttle loosens itsself during normal operation, ive tried making more throtthr friction but the lock nut loosend when i move thr throttle bach and forth any tips? we need a constant hand throtthe

You can replace the original friction washer and the problem is solved. You can also 'dimple' the washer faces with a punch and hammer and extend the life even further.

Is the friction washer you refer to located in the throttle linkage. I have a 3110d with the same problem.

Jim,

Yes. If you follow the hand throttle down to the large plate that actuates the injector pump link...that plate + friction disk, two washers and two nuts make the complete assembly. One nut is to apply desired pressure and the other acts as the stop nut. The quick and dirty fix is dimpling but the friction disk runs less than $2.
