Ground speed difference with more hp

I have a 59" snow blower on the front of my 4410. For many years I thought I was over powered (35 engine hp, 28 pto). I could always drive faster than the snow blower could blow the snow. Like I could push the snow over top of the blower and the tractor wouldn't lose power. Then one year we got a really wet snow and I needed every bit of hp the tractor had. It was frustrating as I knew I could blow snow at faster speeds. If you can afford it get more hp.

Most of the time we have light fluffy snow, but one year....

Get more power. You WILL get mission creep as your skill level increases.

+1 and no replacement for weenie horsepower except a new unit... Mine are 90+ pto and in heavy wet snow with my Lucknow, I can make either tractor blow serious smoke.

....but at some point when the snowblower is running at full capacity at 540rpm, a larger horsepower (rating) doesn’t gain anything.
Unless you turn the snowblower’s rpms up, you can’t snowblow at a faster ground speed.
Only when load is dropping the rpms would you want more horsepower/torque.

but at some point, you need more HP to blow the deeper or wetter snow...or when your grade changes and you are going up hill with deep wet snow... or you are using the tractor for something other than snowblowing… and on the lower hp machines in question, HP is huge.. and 21 to 29 PTO.. is HUGE.... IMO

Similar to the Kioti's, Kubota offers three economy L series tractors that are nearly identical. 25, 33 and 39 HP with a slightly less capable hydraulic pump on the 25 HP model. Otherwise the same. I'm confident my 25 HP model will scoop, haul, rake, scrape etc just as fast as the 33 and 39 HP models. But hook up a PTO, and that really separates them. The 33 HP model might be close (its suspected that the 2501 has more snoot in it than rated for), but I bet the 39 HP tractor can blow right past the other two. Do I wish I bought the 39 HP model? Only when I'm mowing heavy grass that bogs me down. I bet it would run a smaller chipper pretty well too.

I bought to avoid the emissions equipment, and I'm not unhappy. But I would strongly re-consider if I was to buy again.

I bought the 3510 for a similar reason but mine is bush hogging not snow. Same thing though. The price jump per hp was small from 26 to 35 but large from 35 to 40 (and here is where you can’t really compare the kubota L series because their hp and price breakpoints are different). Just be sure to compare pto hp since that’s what will really get you and bog down your speed.
