Playing around, I mean getting tedious work done, this morning.

Narragansett Bay. Lovely in the summer. Coastal breezes but no ocean swell. Rather nasty this time of year.

That is absolutely gorgeous. I'm sure I've been by there (or darn close) by boat or ship at some point in my career!

Prudence Island is a sweet little place that functions as though it were 1950. Can't get there without a ferry so no running off to big box stores when you need a part. As such neighbors rely on each other, share, and come up with "Prudence" solutions that any good redneck would recognize. The relative isolation gives it much more of a funky rural feel than one would expect from a place within an hours drive of Boston and in full view of the fancy sailing scene in Newport just five miles away. And yes, it is my little patch of grappling heaven. Me, the tractor and the grapple versus Mother Nature. Toe to toe.

Use the "smoke wrench" on it before whanging on it?

Getting it red and realigning it would be a good option as long as it's not tempered steel. If that's abrasion resistant or some kind of alloy tooth, you'll turn it soft getting it hot enough to work and if you just dowse it with water it could crack.

If it's A36, then have at it!
