Kubota L4060
I just traded in my NH TC33D for a new Kubota L4060 with LA805 loader. If there was one implement I wished I had over the last 16 years it would be a grapple, so I went ahead and got the new loader equipped with a third function kit so its all ready for one. There are three main uses I want to be able to do with this: moving brush, cleaning out matted hay/manure from my barns and clearing roots/rocks from a logging operation I'm having done on my property to reclaim an old pasture.

Lift capacity on the loader is supposed to be 1720lbs at full height, and the 72" HD bucket on it weighs in at 397lbs so I figure the grapple should weigh in around there as well. Width I'm thinking 54' or 60", wide enough so I can get close to the walls in the barn, but not so wide it makes grubbing out a rock or root difficult. I prefer the profile on the bottom teeth to be the pointed/chisel type with enough length that if can scoop out a bucket load, with tine spacing in the 5-8" range. Something that can get under those hay matts without completely digging up my barn floors. Budget range $1000-2000.

I've tried doing some research on what's out there but there are so many different types and manufacturers of these things that I may be missing something that would work better for me. It seems like in order to get the tooth profile I want most models get into the heavy duty types that weigh in more than I think I should go for. Something like the Titan Extreme and Wallace Series I look good, but weigh in the 650-850lb range. I'd prefer not to use too much lift capacity on the implement if I can avoid it. I'd go with something like the Wicked Root Grapple if it weren't for those rounded, upturned teeth. Maybe the Anbo UT-S 60" would be a good compromise.

Let me know if you've got a recommendation that would work for me.

I think you might be surprised what you can get under with the EA wicked grapples. I have never had a problem getting under any materials, although I have not used it on a hard concrete surface. If you simply place the angle of approach of the bottom of the tines in line with the ground, stuff just slides right up the teeth. This series seems to fit nicely with your lift capacity and they are bullet proof too. Single Lid Root Grapple

Works very well on my Mahindra 2538 that has a similar capacity to your tractor. I use a 60", and a 54" would be a little lighter yet again. With our strong, yet not gargantuan lift capacity I feel that the lightest grapple possible is still key.

Good luck!

I have a single lid 60" EA grapple on a 45 horse Kioti. Have never felt that I needed a wider grapple.

Does the loader have a SSQA or the Kubota Quick Attach?

Did you look at the 37" opening Single Lid Wicked Root Grapple made by EA, that Snowback linked to?

It has a lower tine profile that will do what you want to do, just curl down an drive forward.

It's probably overkill for your application, but I just love my Faver grapple for brush and digging out rocks. The getcha is that for brush you want a wide grapple and for rocks you want a narrow one. You'll have to decide which goal is more important.

I have a Kubota L3560 HSTC I bought 2 years ago thinking like you and had the third function valve installed as well. I looked around a lot and finally settled on QuickAttach in MN. I got the 60" Quick Claw. It weighs 685 lbs. The tractor handles it just fine, but operates better with ballast on the 3-pt hitch. Check out their web site: Quick Attach Skid Steer Attachments I am very happy with their products and I also bought a plow for my tractor that came in handy last winter when we got 110 inches of snow.

I love my EA grapple and pretty much abuse it. It is holding up very well and works fantastic. I have a 72" on my MX 5100.

I looked at Anbo & Land Pride grapples. Ended up with a Land Pride SGC1560. Went with Land Pride because dealer gave me a good deal on grapple, third function valve & instal and it is truly a very heavy duty implement. Anbo mfg is 75 miles north of me and from what I saw they, like my Land Pride, are an excellent heavy duty grapple.

Additional suggestion - you should consider doing something to your grill guard to protect the grill, radiator, battery etc. Many posts here on TBN regarding damage to same, done by limbs etc.

Is that a off the shelf grill guard or a self made?

The design is a combination of something I drew up and what the young fellow at the welding shop envisioned. He was particularly pleased with the "tongue".

I know for a fact it saved the grill/radiator at least once. The basic guard is OEM on my tractor. The expanded metal & tongue were added.

Looks really nice. You should think about marketing it.

Check out the EA Root Rake Grapple. Sounds like it would be ideal for what you want to do. Mine is very strong and well made.

I do have the quick attach on the loader, and the 3rd function hydraulics so that's all ready to go.

I like the weight and tine spacing on that Wicked Grapple, but I'm thinking that if I tilt it up to get the teeth under the manure mat for scraping it will tend to want to dig into the floor. That little 6" flat doesn't seem like it would support the weight without digging in.

The Anbo UT-S model I was looking at seems like it might work better for that job:

At 440lbs its a little heavier than the EA Wicked but still comparable to a 72" bucket, and the tine spacing is a little wider but probably acceptable at 8". Convince me that the dig in issue when tilting isn't a problem and I might prefer the EA.

In a perfect world it'd be nice to have something with beefier tines without the cross support like one from TheRakeShop:

I couldn't get a response from them when I asked for specs and price but it looks like its probably too heavy.

The 6" flat points don't support any weight, The loader arms support the weight and should not move down as you are going forward.

The angle on the EA Wicked angle looks about the same as my Monster Grapple. I use it a lot with the flat parallel to the ground, pushing under things to pick it up.

I was going to try it on some old hay at the feeder and get pictures, but it started raining.
