I'm looking for a picture of how the 3rd function control integrates into the factory joystick for the loader on a Grand L tractor? I'm sure it's on the site but I can't seem to find it for the life of me.

I'm looking to purchase a Grand L with the factory installed third function and just curious to see what the loader controls look like afterward. Is it a toggle switch that you operate with your thumb? Is it mounted separately on the lever? Is it turned on/off or always active? Sorry for the newbie questions but, well, I'm a newbie. I've read all I can about it but I guess I'm just a visual type of guy. I think a picture would explain it all.

Depends up whether a ROPS or cab model.

I looked and I don't have picture of it, but in the cab model the joystick has a bunch out on top that allows the switch to be placed there. The power switch is mounted lower on the joystick stem that allows you to turn the power on/off to the 3rd function valve.

If I can remember, I will try to grab a picture the next time I'm out at the farm.

I would appreciate it. I did notice the punch out while sitting in one the other day and wondered if that was the purpose. Seems like an ideal setup for a simple and ergonomic use, which was my hope.

My whole reason for bringing this up is I visited the Kioti dealer yesterday and they had a nice ergonomic handle. When I mentioned 3rd function the salesman said that entire handle would be swapped out for one designed for 3rd function and I didn't know if that was the case for Kubota.

The use the handle that is there. I had the Kubato dealer install mine. The switch fits perfectly in the punch out.

Thank you motorboatin... And the power supply would just be mounted on the stem of the joystick I assume from BRMyers description? Are there any consequences if the power supply is left on and a third function button is pushed while there is not a third function attachment hooked up? For example, I accidentally leave power on and hit the button while I have the bucket on instead of grapple.

The power supply is hidden and you might only see a wire running down the into the boot. I can't remember if the wire hidden inside the arm or not. I don't have a Kubota but if I hit the button in my Massey with no attachment I hear the hydraulics sequel. The pump doesn't run unless you hit the thumb switch

I really like the third function buttons integrated into the joystick on my Massey and Kubota has a nice clean setup as well

Just for sake of comparison, I snapped a picture of the factory installed 3rd function on my ROPS L3560 since I went out to check something else....

Man those ROPS machines are ghetto. Zip tie holding the switch on? My cabbed L4060 has a stainless hose clamp.

That switch is lighted & a push to toggle. When lit & on, the rocker sooling switch ontop starts working. When off that rocker doesnt do anything. Safety measure to prevent accidental activation or something I guess. And all those on/off switches look very aftermarket how they are mounted. The rocker ontop looks nice & factory though.

 ...the padding on the remote valve levers is worse; heavily cracked on two, and already came off on one - likely due to thermal cycling. I'm guessing they didn't exactly consider the temperature swings that can be experienced throughout a day in an enclosed (or even partially opened) carport in Alabama when selecting the materials.

All it all it does what it needs to do (and probably more than it should actually) and I expect it will continue to do so as long as I keep taking care of the mechanical needs.

.....

Though really as ugly as the toggle may be sticking out the side, I've actually liked having it there as it's real easy to intentionally turn it on/off with the side of my hand, and not too easy to unintentionally turn it off/on that way (been done a couple times, but by far unintentional operation is the exception rather than the norm).

I have a L6060 cab with the Kubota 3rd function and it is the same as jjp8182's is. Two other points, not sure it is suppose to but realized yesterday when closed the third function the fel would not raise. As to using the Kubota knob it depends on the dealer. I was given the option of the Kubota 3rd function or Land Pride and when he explain the difference went for the Kubota. Talked with another dealer and they used WR Long and then would not use the Kubota knob. so you must ask YOUR dealer which use they use.

Appreciate the clarity and photos guys. I agree it seems kinda cheap to have to zip tie/hose clamp a switch to the stem of your control lever on a tractor of this price point, but after all it is just a tractor and it gets the job done.

I was just unclear on exactly how it worked but those pictures cleared it up nicely. Thanks again.

Be aware with the third function on a Grand L you will want a little under belly protection if you plan to operate in rough terrain.

I believe the zip tie is not what was suppose to be used but a stainless water hose clamp is. Why they used a tie not sure. Maybe they lost it, did not like the end of the hose clamp sticking out or just likes the zip ties.
