Does anyone see the need to load their rear tires for loader work? Looks like pretty heavy tractor already

You'll need ballast on the 3 point for sure. The 805 will lift the back of mine with the cab. I usually have the 900 lb rotary cutter on. I do not have fluid in the tires, only sealant.

I have an open station L3560 with LA805 FEL and air inflated R4/industrail tires.

I routinely carry a 650 pound Cultipacker or 650 pound Box Blade on the Three Point Hitch for moderate FEL lift counterbalance.

For max LA805 lifts I mount a 950 pound Disc Harrow which, being long, is sufficient counterbalance.

You will raise the tires off the ground, even with loaded tires. As it has been pointed out, get some weight on the 3pt to provide good counter balance.

I have 1550# of RimGuard in the rear tires. Plus a 1050# rear blade on the 3-point. There have been times when lifting a very large rock with the grapple - I begin to feel "light in the loafers".

YES - if you are serious about safe use of your loader - you need weight on the 3-point. You will find out in a real big hurry if you try to lift anything heavy.

Kubota tractors are generally light for their size. Much debate about whether that's good or bad.

With no load on the FEL, on grass, can you back uphill in 2wd?

Or, with a bucket full of any material, on good solid footing, can you back uphill in 2wd?

If the answer to these questions is no, then you need to add weight using a method of your choice.

I second ovrszd's recommendation. While the L3560 is one of the largest/heaviest tractors in that size/hp range it also has a short wheel base, and can be equipped with a heavier loader.

Using an 3pt implement as ballast really only works well when the tractor is carrying at least some of the implements weight, and when the implement is just being towed/trailed it's not going to be of much help. This is one of those things I've learned from experience.

Before adding wheel weights when I was mowing I'd occasionally have the "fun" of not being able to back up steeper inclines (e.g. road embankments on my property) after going down them when in 2wd unless I lifted the finish mower to put more weight on the rear tires. Even without a bucket/implement on the front, the L805 loader itself was enough to make the back end a bit light when on an incline with the open station L3560. So while I could have resorted to lifting the mower to put more weight on the back tires every time it happened, putting ballast on/in the wheels seemed like the better option. By adding the full set of wheel weights the problem was solved completely. It also had the effect of increasing stability for heavier loader work and providing a bit more stability for driving along the road embankment (across the slope - which isn't long).

I've found the more weight the better and the typical 400-700 lb implement does not provide the benefit 1,200 lbs or more will do.

Nobody thinks they need rear ballast until they try it. I've lent out my box to several neighbors, so they could gain first hand experience on their tractors. Now they won't run without. Ballast weight was adjusted since the tractors they own range from the smaller B's to L4060. (Ballast box is filled with steel input shafts with sand taking up any free space)

IMO, you can't have enough weight on the back when moving heavy FEL loads:

55 gallons in the filled tires; 500 lbs of lead, steel and concrete wheel weights; Bushhog 286 at 1000 lbs plus 450 lbs steel and concrete weight block on the back of the bushhog.

My Grand L 60 will easily lift the rears, with wheel weights, off the ground. My tiller is the best counterweight I have due to its weight and not sticking out a huge amount. Winter sees a power angle blade up front, a lot of weight for the tractor, and really needs my heavy duty rear blade in the rear.
