I am having some intermittent problems with the governor on my 83 Satoh Buck. It seems to happen after about an hours of use (eg when fully warmed up). The symptom is that when the governor would normally kick in, in response to an increase in the load, the engine stumbles and almost dies. If I hit/play with the throttle pedal the engine will keep running, although it is a bit rough, almost as though one cylinder was not firing right. But there is no sign of roughness in the engine before the speed was increased by the throttle/governor.

I had thought it might be an air leak in the fuel lines, so I tightened the clamps up (and there was one somewhat loose but not leaking fuel). However as this is an intermittent thing it is hard to say if that fixed it or not.

Any suggestions for other possible causes, or things to check?

TIA

Steve

Haven't had that happen on mine yet. Are you sure your filter is OK? How about the vent in the fuel cap? Make sure you eliminate the easy stuff first is all I'm saying. My Buck has been rode pretty hard.
