Hey Rob...do you leave yr tractor outside? Do you have a block heater?

Hi Roy,

My tractor sits in the unheated garage. No block heater. On the coldest days I'll run the intake preheater for 10 seconds or so, I've never had a problem starting.

If I did have to keep it outside I think I would get a block or rad. hose heater. There can be quite a difference in temp between inside and outside, even when the garage isn't heated.

Is yours inside or out? How you liking your new ride?

I know many people really like the snow, and seat time is seat time, but I'm SOOOOO happy I don't have to deal with that stuff again.
I get to work on my property all year round, and usually all I need is a jacket and sometimes some long-johns under my clothes.
I bet the first few snows are a lot more fun to work than the subsequent ones! John

Mine's in an attached (unheated) garage most of the time. I might leave it out for a day or so if I'm working a task.

It's a really a nice tractor...a bit big for what I need. I was looking more PTO HP and found a nice deal.

The reason I asked is I may have to leave it out during times of snow. The 670 had plenty of clearance out the garage door, even with a few inches of snow on the ground. Going to be a bit tighter with the taller 790. Be a heck of a thing to not be able to get my "snow plow" out of the garage when I need it, eh?

You must know my mom John, she's become one of you! She spends half the year down there, the other half up our way. She comes up for Christmas and seriously can't wait to get back to the sunshine. Can't say I blame her entirely, but for now anyway I like the snow /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You use a rear blade Roy? I pull my tractor in forwards to the garage with the rear blade rotated around. When I back it out on a snowy day, the blade is the first thing to hit the white stuff /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi Rob...yeah...mostly I use a rear blade for plowing.
Since the 790 (and 419 loader ) is bigger and longer then the 670, I can't pull straight in...I have to back in (picture would do wonders right now). I'm sure for light snows, there'll be no problem.
However, anything wet and 6" plus might give me a bit of grief. It's been pretty cold here the last few days...at night, anyway. I think I'll just park it outside and see how it does in the morning.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Have you replaced the battery yet? I went through that a year or so ago. Put in a generic TSC battery and new cable ends due to the familiar leaking/corrosion issue. If you haven't done that you may want to check it out as that will cause you more starting problems than the cold.

I forgot you have the 419 loader. Yours must be a couple years younger than mine /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've been keeping an eye on the battery..so far, no problems!
I've got that bolted on grill guard so I hope no problems with the battery!

Is that part of the 419 loader or is the tractor grill different?

My neighbor has a newer 790 and I noticed his doesn't have the lateral float slots in the TPH lift links. Does yours? Did your 670? That's something I'd miss as I almost always have it in the float position now. Not as much gouging with whatever implement I have back there /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
