Got my Tiltmeter

Well, I got my tiltmeter from R & B in the mail today. I got the 25c and I mounted it on my hood. Tomorrow I'll check the level and see how steep the hills I'll be mowing are.

What is the recomended saftey zone ? I have a Long/Landtrac 360dtc, weighs in at about 4000 lbs with loaded rear tires and FEL. Have rear tires (R1s) set out to 66".

I think you'll read in the tiltmeter instructions that 15° is the recomended limit.
I never thought much of 15° being steep..but when you're sittin' on the tractor, it feels like a lot. I've also found out that most of the slopes on our property were well under 15°, although they felt like a lot more (again, on the tractor) before I got my tiltmeter.

EdKing, several threads on this question are available through search. Slope conditions and weather conditions all factor into it. Generally, 15 degrees is an average limit where it gets questionable but if its slick and the ground is bumpy I'd definitely reduce this. Always make certain you know the ground well before any sideways traveling.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to check the fields tommorow and maybe mow up and down if its too steep.

Well, after trying out the tractor on the hills, I see that the pucker factor at 15 and above is high enough that 15 is a good limit.
