Got my Carry All today.

I beefed up the pins on mine after bending the up rights in the pin area going thru a hole to fast. This is what I did but I like Terry's design better - see post #4 above.

Made a gusset bracket.

Drilled thru the base so the pin passed thru double thickness and welded it to the uprights

I have removable stakes on it.

I used one of those to mount my PTO generator on.

Welded on a roof to keep the rain off the generator itself, and legs to set it on the ground so that the PTO shaft stays level, and hydraulic bleed off on the 3pt won't affect driveline on long running times.

Nice set-up ! This is off topic but I am curious as to how much fuel you use, per hour say, running a rig like that. I realize it depends on the load but I'm just trying to get an idea. Thanks

I think it depends on how much the generator pulls torque-wise on the PTO, and the tractor horsepower.

My generator is a 30kw, and I run it with a 75hp tractor. Not run it for a full 24 hour period non stop, but based on what I've tested it, it'll burn somewhere around 20 gallons in a 24 hour period.

Nothing welded yet and nothing even clamped. Everything is loose but approximately where I want it. Triangular steel where the vertical meets the horizontal. 1x3 on the vertical, 1x2 under the horizontal.

It'll make it stronger.

But I do think those triangular pieces need to be of thicker metal, if you can.

I'm not engineer but my guess is the weak point will be the pins. You need to reinforce the pins like post #11. My counter weight problem (~900 lbs) are the pins bending the frame.

The rest of the tubes looks to only add weight... Again, not an engineer...

What will you be lifting with the carry-all? If it needs to be stronger, the joint between the vertical and horizontal would be my focus. I would think adding a 3x3x1/4" angle the full width in the corner would make a big difference. I use my carry-all on the front of my Toolcat and stacked it full with firewood no problem.

For sure.!
With a tall heavy load, those lower corners are one of the weak spots.

A 55 gallon drum with water weighs about 500 pounds. This guy claims he was hauling 700 pounds when this happened. Now a bounce can turn 700 to 1000 in a blink. 1000 is the max capacity. I figure with a second 55 gallon drum I'd be at capacity. The extra steel will give me insurance.

About the only time(s) Id be carrying any significant weight around would be 1. Water from a nearby lake to refill my plastic septic tank after its pumped.
2. Wood for campfires by the lake or
3. V8 engines for my hotrod
Most of the time ash in the winter for traction down my single lane dirt road thats not maintained by the State of NY
