Low RPM shifting is what I learned with unbelievable amount of torque, I could be in the wrong gear and still pull the load with that Mack

That is one thing about a Mack, they pull like stink. The company I just retired from had a RSX model Mack with the V8 Mack motor. The speedo was a little bit off, I got caught going to Oshawa from Guelph out in the hammer lane most of the way (this was a straight job). The cop hauled me over when I got off the 401 at Harmony Rd., do you have any idea how fast you were going young fella. Well officer I have a speed recording device (tack-o-graph) right here that proves I was doing 62 mph. The cop say with a giggle, come back to my car and I will show you what the radar says you were going. 85 mph...Is that the same radar that will clock telephone poles speeding? He laughed and told me to get the speedo fixed. No ticket. Got out of that bucket of excrement smelling like a rose.
That Mack had walking beam tandem suspension. One rough riding truck. Most of the other R models I drove had camel back suspension. Pretty squishy when you had a big load on them. All of them were full tandem drives.

Good New Year Day (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 8C and it's presently 23.8C, mostly clear with a breeze as the day goes on.

For a small town, the traffic was pretty solid yesterday. Still, I was able to get my weekly grocery shopping done... just needed to keep a smile on my face plus eyes in the back of your head to dodge other shopping carts.

I did make it to midnight and rang in the New Year. I watched the Sydney fireworks, which lasted for 12 minutes, then straight to bed.

Proceeded to wake up at my regular time this A.M. Again, nothing really planned.

Woman has the Bob Evans sausage out thawing, for the dumplings and sauerkraut.

Mine has the Black Eyed Peas on low simmer, . I obediently eat one spoonful after midnight.

Black-Eyed peas are soaking in the crock pot, will be seasoned appropriately in the morning and heat applied. Turnip greens will go on in the morning, prepared like this. Ham goes in in the afternoon. Gonna eat large!

Tonight it's beef tenderloin from a local outfit... and probably a tater.

It was downright warm today!

Finally got a good day to work on the Old House. Replacing the front porch floor. Always something interesting when working on it. Hauled off some debris and got to have a little fun.

I'm ready for a nap.

Prayers Bupps. I hope the police all know about the situation. I have dealt with similar with my grandpa, but only for a week at a time for a couple of months. Glad he didn't get so angry, but he wanted to know where his Buick was. (It was like a late 50's model he remembered)

Good evening all. 36ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Light wind, mostly clear sky, and High temp was 65ºF. Made coffee to start day, office work, made oatmeal for breakfast, leaf control on front porch and back fence, bike ride, total miles for 2025 is 6,858. Not quite the 7,000 mile goal, always next year. Town run for lunch, meds, groceries, and HD for corded lead vac. Did get nap so I could stay up till midnight.

Drinking first cup of hot coffee. -1° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 19° with snow flurries. About 3" of fresh snow yesterday afternoon. Grocery shopping went good. I think there was 6 other shoppers in the store. Going to need some snow cleanup when it warms up today. Beyond that I am going to stay warm in the house.

Good Tractor Morning,
Vt, 20 to start going to 24 or 25. Wind plowing like heck. New problem with the kitchen heating stove, pilot keeps blowing out, mostly under heavy wind conditions. I looked at the old valve that I took out and there is a pilot flame adjustment. You have to take out a small flathead screw to gain access to the small brass adjustment screw. But for some reason I can’t seem to get outer screw out on the new one. Will try playing with it later.

Everyone leaves this morning. Good time had by all although Opa and Nana are pretty well beat

Scotty, hope you get that stove working. Need to fill your company up with pancakes before sending them out in that cold.

Buppies, continuing to pray for you and Holly. She may never understand what an angel you have been for her.

Mostly, 6,858 miles is quite the accomplishment...that's like pedaling from Dallas to the tip of South America...it dwarfs my 852 miles/109,300' elevation gain while hiking this year.

Not sure we will be doing our annual 1st Day Hike...wife is worn out from entertaining last night, plus company coming tomorrow, and I'm nursing 2 hurt body parts...maybe a short hike closer than the mountains.
