Wind gust just started here , rain went horizontal for a few minutes.

We found my budget at work, it was there, stress level reduced until January :)
Glad you found the budget. Glad to be retired and without the stress caused by lump sum contracts and having to deal with Force Majeure and other claims

Here are some threaded inserts that you can use in your plastic endeavors to take you to the next level. We use them all the time, but not for keeping airplanes flying. They hold decent, but still just plastic behind them.

Thanks for that. I have used them, and found that modeling extra wall thickness in the holes increases the strength. I have also experimented with attaching metal parts with knurled pins in a similar fashion. So far it’s all been experimental/educational, but it gives me ideas for when I want to actually create something.

Thanks Ken.

We have cameras all over our school. But there's something fishy as far as using them IMO. My bosses boss can use them in our labs for safety measures, but not in hallways???
We have had about 25-30 electric bike/scooter thefts in the last 3 weeks. You can't tell me the University police can't find the few perps doing this on video, and catch them red handed. I believe I witnessed one of the thefts while trying to "get away" he wiped out on slick wet rainbow rock. He was a juvenile and lets just say in the DEI arena. Why they don't arrest these punks makes me mad. We had 3 teenagers recently caught with 2 modified Glo-ck pi-st-ols that could spray. Watch the video. Hope they stay in jail for a while. Glad they didn't kill anyone that we know of. But just a matter of time if unchecked.
3 teens arrested after tossing firearms from car

We had a small welder stolen from a room in that is in the rear of our building. The cop told me "only high up detectives can look at video".

That is wrong.

Sure has been a frustrating morning, with the internet not working via my router. works if i go straight to the starlink. Have rebooted all of them....
Then youtube won't work, I keep getting a message it things i'm a bot. That's when running straight from starlink. But can view youtube on my phone with their app, but not on my computer.
Wind starting to pick up. Was thinking about running out and getting the part for my pellet stove today, and grab lunch in PA at the BBQ place.

21F with light snow coming down @ 12:30. That should be the high for today, with temps continuing to drop a little as the day progresses.

Got 0.52" of rain overnight ... which probably melted most all of what was left of the snow. Then temp plummeted and everything get covered again.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by NWS ... winds howling and a heavy snow squall headed into the area.

Refilled feral cat's food bowl when I went downstairs yesterday, water bowl was ok with all the rain.

Got that 8' section of stud wall nailed together, stood up, and more or less moved into place. Was a bit of a challenge doing it by myself and navigating the various obstructions on the bottom of the floor joists (gas line, whole house vacuum plumbing, and other junk stored up in the joists) to get it in place.

Couldn't quite get it all the way there as I didn't want to be banging with a hammer late at night while The Woman was trying to sleep ... and there was a temporary wire run from the main breaker panel to the outlet in the garage for the 30 gallon (?) Coleman "BlackMax" 5 hp compressor (first air compressor I ever bought, probably 35+ years old at this point and still going strong) which was in the way.

Did pull the cover on the MBP and disconnect the wires to that outlet and pull them out of the panel. Outlet will get wired into the 100A subpanel I installed in the garage, just need to check the sticker on the compressor motor and make sure I have a properly-sized breaker for the sub-panel.

On the agenda for today:

Modify another cat treat container to use as a salt shaker for the entry walkway.

Refill feral cat food bowl.

Probably make the journey out to the bird feeders and refill the hopper as well.

Set up alumunum folding table and get at least one (of two) remaining sets of shelving on the east wall unloaded so it/they can be moved out of the way. This could be a bit tricky as the existing HVAC ducting may be in the way, the shelving is heavy, etc.

Get more polyisocyanate foam board cut, glued up, placed, and braced on the east wall.

Get back there and get that flue pipe for the wood burner caulked up (requires 24 hours before it can be fired)

Maybe get that gas valve replumbed/repositioned.

Scoped out the electrical feed to the kitchen range from below to get an idea of range location.

Was thinking that I'd tee the 3/4 line off the 2" main after the shutoff valve and run one leg to the furnace in the garage and stub out the other leg for a gas range in the kitchen.

But I have another tap (currently plugged) in the end of the 2" main that is fairly close to the range location so probably go that route ... since it's likely to avoid any potential supply issues on both appliances.

Beyond those items just see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent day ... (y)

ran out and got my stove part, and have it in already. perfect fit. I read some of the Amazon reviews for the knock off ones sometime don't fit well.
Stopped and got lunch at the BBQ place using coupon, then brought home another half rack of ribs for $10 and another sandwich. Also stopped and got some fry pies at the usual place, next to our breakfast place. Will be there tomorrow morning.
Internet still not working well. not sure if wind related, but have manually rebooted all but one of the mesh nodes. Now have cameras working on them, but out to internet very slow.
Section of my fence blew over, 2 posts broke at the ground. Top of flag also disconnected or the clasp broke. neighbor texted early today about something of theirs that blew away. It was under their pine trees, so I texted back. next thing i know it's under my flagpole, so I went out and got it in my garage for now.

Well good day to all;
Strange weather the last couple of days, warmed up yesterday got to the mid 40's, warmed up during the night to 50 this morning then started raining heavy at times got up to 58 on my sensors, now dropping like a rock down to 36 projected to get down to 22 tonight.
Going to be rough on livestock tonight.
Did my winter prep work on the winter sander, all greased, oil changed, varmint nests all cleaned out of the engine, air filter still usable but they even chewed on the rubber on it. Started up ran the engine and drives, then ran it out of fuel to wait till needed. That 10.5 Hp Briggs and Straton is the only gas engine on the place, except for the 2 strokes.

All have a good evening.

Wind gusts to 60 MPH. Lots of smaller branches down. Staying away from being too close to trees. Power was out several times. Restarted the computer brought it back to working again. Should be over by 10:00 PM. Feels very cold with all that wind

I am glad for hiring the crew that took down several trees and all overhanging branches along the driveway a few months ago

Early wake up call this morning at 3:20 as a skunk let loose near the house and gassed all of us. Around midmorning, while I was outside doing chores, one of the cats turned up looking for a snuggle. By the stench, apparently she had been the skunk's target, so no snuggling ensued. 😆

I spent most of the morning digging out some drainage swales and cleaning the driveway gutter in anticipation of the current forecast being on target for four plus inches of rain over the next week. One set of drainage swales had filled completely in our last downpour which hadn't happened before. We will see how long this clean out holds up. I dumped a couple of cubic yards of the material to refresh a pad where the cows get fed. It really should get compacted, but that's not happening today.

I double checked the water tanks on the hill to make sure that the new contractor coil on the well is working (it seems to be working). While I was up there, I climbed the tower for the weather station to clean out the rain gauge and check the anemometer. I'm glad that I did, as there was a bit of spider web hanging off of the drip lip at the bottom of the rain funnel, along with small small debris that might have gummed things up. There a few small leaves as well, but nothing serious.

Those of you with magnetic drills, have any of you used them to countersink large diameter holes, e.g. 3/4 or 1" bolt holes?

All the best,

Peter
