Lou, you and me both. I ALWAYS question authority.
I always dress as I want. Right now I am wearing one of the companies' uniform shirts that I paid for. I have 7 of them and I WILL wear them until the company pays me what I paid for the shirts or I out grow them. ;)

68°F and 1.58 inches rain

Close to finish this round of mowing yesterday. Got my 2 most challenging banks cut

What remains is some significant low limb trimming of the eucalyptus and then tidy up the edges. My plan for the day wx permitting.

All this barn building talk. Caught myself looking at my tractorshed and thinking. Luckily I came to my senses.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great tractor day

Made another half dozen calls to PA well drillers and hit pay dirt ... after a fashion.

Got a call back from a guy @ Book & Proch.

Large firm, 60 employees, has a geologist on staff, does a lot of drilling and well development for municipalities and large commercial firms.

No longer does work in Ohio, just too busy with more local stuff.

Teaches at the local college and was a speaker "at the winter conference" ? (NGWA maybe)

Agreed with my take on the educational level and technical expertise on some of the drillers in the industry ... a lot of "one man band" drilling outfits ... who are doing things "the way Pappy always used to do it" ... and see little to no need to keep up with the times and changing technology.

Got into some real specifics of how they would approach well rehab and for this area frac'ing wouldn't be it.

As Peter kind of alluded to, they had a frac'ing rig ($300K invested) and ended up selling it as it was not all that effective for the strata they typically work in. More effective as you go east (hard rock) ... and probably worse as you go west (Ohio)

Got the name of one firm from him located in Mansfield that he said was pretty competent. About an hour away. Reached out to them and made contact, guy I spoke to is pulling up info for local wells in the area and will give me a call back.

Also got the name of two firms to specifically avoid ... ;)

That sounds like progress from a distance.

To me, that last line is a solid gold! The advice on how to rehab your well also sounds invaluable.

I hope that the outfit in Mansfield works out.

I just assumed that your well is in the NE Ohio Elyria/Dover sandstone. Do you have a drilling record for your well?

Good luck!

All the best,

Peter

Peter,

I have a copy of the original drilling report. That one was filed with Ohio DNR.

However I think the well was drilled deeper at a later date.

No report on the DNR website for that one but pretty sure I have seen it around here … just haven’t been able to put my hands on it yet.

Elyria/Dover Sandstone sounds right.

Don’t have to go deep around here to hit water, most wells are less than 200’ from the research I’ve done.

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 5C and it's presently 17.7C, mostly clear with a wee breeze.

I did decide not to attend Church this morning due to this cold. Just achy with sniffles, but I'd rather not spread it.

I'll probably have to put the woodheater on for tomorrow as the last 'hurrah' for Winter is predicted.

That's about it, take care all.

It finally rained 1.5" last night. good for the yard but not good for the last big weekend before Halloween at the "Farm". First pic is tractor fall decorations next pic is the very wet picnic table area the next pic is the owner in his skid steer trying to get the water and mud out of the petting zoo the last pic is it turned out to be a sunny, muddy day with a good crowd.
