WOW!!50 years of your woman putting up with you! How does she do it?;)

I have found in the distant past that a .22 works good for ground hogs. If they are fast use a .303 It is a little overkill, but if you hit them in the head they wont run far.

My first 40 years of trucking was on Dayton rims. The 8 years of dump trucking I changed and repaired my own flats. The only time a 'shop' did them was when I bought new. In those days to tighten up the studs I would use a 3/4" Johnson/breaker bar, first to snug them up, then put a 5' hunk of pipe on it and jump on the end of the bar. When you heard the squawk out of the nut on the stud they were tight enough. The only time I used an impact gun was to remove them. Don't miss those day at all. It is only the past 10 years I have run on Budd rims.

Is it just me or is this post almost unreadable with all these emoji indications but no emoji shown;

"That’s a working" "Nott horse drawn steam engine converted to self propelled in" "with an American Lafrance Tractor"

Nice picture but.
Not just you.

When you heard the squawk
I had that squawk when tightening. Now I think about it will go back and check it for run out and redo it if not running without wobble. The wedges can be projectiles if bolts are taken off before the rim is free from the drum so will back bolts out a bit and hit the tire to get it free.

Yeah, I saw that Lou. Something changed all the dates I had put in to the emoji nonsense. I’ll try to correct it all when I get back home.

73°f and 0 rain

A very good day yesterday, when all the little things just came together.
Quite impressed with the VA Clinic. In and out less than 15 minutes. Lee in a cup and blood draw. Super nice staff

Out of there so quickly got to take Sophie out for breakfast.

iPhone fixed with new display. Two trips, but just a tad over 4 hours between

Sophie has invited a few over for BBQ burgers and dogs. That means me doing the grilling. Should be fun

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

87F @ 12:15, heading up to around 89F for the day's high. DP 66F, HU 47%, "feels like" temp = 98F.

Made another gallon of tea to be iced yesterday first thing, now chilling in the 'frig.

Got more bills paid.

Menards rebate receipts gathered up, rebate form filled out, and stuck in an addressed envelope with a stamp on it.

Refilled hopper feeder, also scattered some seed for the ground feeders. Squirrel that was there while I was doing that didn't run off (usually they do) ... just hung out around 10' away, watching what I was doing.

Located correct QD for the soaker hose on the indeterminate tomatoes. Best part of that was I also found another male fitting that fit it and changed out the one on the soaker hose on the cabbage … so now all the soaker hoses have same style make fittings and will work with a single female coupler.

Watered and fed last 3 arbs, gave another 2 gallons of water to another 2 which hadn’t been mulched around their bases.

Then got all 5 that weren’t mulched around their bases mulched.

Hauled down a couple more bucket loads of mulch for the arbs. Did some more mulch spreading.

Moved a bale of peat moss up to the shop for the planting bed there on the west side.

Also redrilled one of the planting holes up there, 2 more to go.

After that hauled the Buffalo to the back and watered and fed the 6 pumpkins back there 2 gallons each.

Now have couple of Casper pumpkins on the vines back there:

The second Small Sugar:

IMG_3837 copy.jpg

Then over to the winter squash that are planted over at the southwest corner of the house and watered and fed those, 2 gallons each. Numerous Honey Baby and Waltham Butternuts over there.

Noticed another Hubbard Gold growing on a vine on the ground by the arched trellis, was about the size of a softball (yesterday)

Gave indeterminate tomatoes on the straight trellis a 40 minute drink (medium flow) with the soaker hose.

Collected up yesterday's harvest after getting that going:

Still have more cukes on the way.

Menards rebate check came in the mail yesterday ... (y)

Not sure what all on agenda for today.

Time for pow-wow with Woman to see what She has on Her mind.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday.

Happy belated to PJ and Happy anniversary to B7510 and his better half.

oh the joys of NJ....
had a nice time at friend's post wedding picnic.
About 60 people came, mostly on bride's side so fun to meet a lot
of Filipinos. Just about every young Mother was carrying a baby; little kids seemed to have fun.

got pretty hot even with breeze picking up. What a nice park, like an oasis in that area of suburban jungle.
They had dozens of paddleboats to use/rent and lots of those were out moving around Orange Reservoir and avoiding the
really powerful fountains they had at one end. If I lived in a high rise in that area, this would sure be a place I'd want to go.

on the way up, hard to believe...I thought 280 was after 80 but actually it's an exit after you get on 80 East and I drove on by.
I drove and I drove, and when I saw the sign for Pompton Lakes, I knew I had screwed up. But I was very early so I just turned around and went
18 miles South back to 80 and easy after that. Coming home was easy but a serious amount of traffic.

the pavilion looked out over the water

there was a crushed ice truck there.
I went over, was going to buy an ice for the hot sweating cop there
helping with traffic, and gasped when I saw the price.
7 dollars for a child's cup of crushed ice with syrup.
I laughed and walked away. I told the cop and he laughed and said he wouldn't
pay it either.

what truly annoys me is I left my camera in the car and that parking lot was up a hill, I was
not going back for it. So no pics.

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of -1.6C and it's presently 'warmed up' to -0.5C 😐 [predicted High of 12C], clear & calm with frost.

I'm off to Church in a half hour, followed by lunch out in Pyengana with my visiting Friends.

That's about it, take care all.

Went out and started to mow the section of land that I haven't cut for almost 2 years. Man was it tough to cut. Had to go maybe 3mph and manage the power by lifting the shredder deck up when it started killing the engine. 65 PTO Hp on a 6' shredder. Tough weeds I tell you. Come try it with yours if you don't believe me. :) I had to come back to the house after 2 rounds of the PTO clutch slipping and just tighten the heck out of it to make it stop slipping. Mowed and mowed. A rain shower cooled me off for about 15 minutes of light rain. I was about out of fuel and had to quit to take son to an event. Cut maybe 6 acres and have maybe 2 more to do.
I believe I can finish with another hour's worth of effort.

My mom bought us a family pack of BBQ yesterday. 2 lbs of lean sliced brisket and 1 lb of sausage. Plus potato salad, cole slaw, and beans. Eating like royalty, and leftovers today.

I'm praying for peace in Ukraine.

Back from my days sojourn.
Nice trip up and back, going up took a new route to me, had to go over at least 2 mountains on switchback roads, as the GPS said that was 7 min faster than the way I usually go, which is the way I came back.
I know our friend was happy that 15 from our church went, 2.5 hrs away. After the Cemetery service, we left and went to my wife's cousin that lives real close, and they feed us a great lunch and we had a good visit. Left there about 4 pm to head home, via the lake we will camp at in a few weeks.

Picked a few things from the garden.
My brother mowed at Dad's today.

Used to have to change split rims on dump truck tires years ago, no cages then.

Coffee is brewing. 69° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° with slight chance of stray thunderstorm. Got .19" rain yesterday from afternoon thunderstorms. Tractor show never happened. Neighbors family is sick from some kind of sinus infection. So instead went to a Open house for a friends place that I have not seen in almost 60 years. Lots of old race and sports cars to see. RMmortosports. Bud and I raced snowmobiles and go carts in the 60's. Rest of the day was sent conserving energy. Will try to conserve energy today.

Watch has to have 11.6.1 software and be a Series 9 or 10. iPhone needs iOS 18.6.1 .
I tried it after both updates and it works. It shows up on my iPhone heath APP. 👍
