Dennis, the gas line going through the property would be a deal breaker for me.

The power coming into this place is underground as I am over 205' back from the road. Between the buried power and the steel roof they were both selling points as well as the full basement. But I will forewarn you that unless you like dusting every day, do NOT buy a log house.

Coffee has been poured. 49° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 78° with plenty of sun. PT went good yesterday. Did not find spare bolt for mower. Will order from dealer. Nothing got done yesterday. Too much time visiting and talking on phone. No plans for today yet.
Time to put new Suet Cake out.

Phil, nice pens.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
wow 4 inches of rain Buppies, you folks got a lot more than here, actually just North and South of me
got more an an inch. Only 1/3 inch of rain here. I hope the weather dries out nicely for your work.

marvelously cool morning out, 61 now going up to 80.
I have a full day, meeting with inlaw family this morning to plan memorial for my MIL and am given
the poems MIL wanted me to read.
Then this afternoon over to my friends in Hatfield where I go swimming and then have dinner there.
should be a very nice day.

picked up the rv bathroom door molding yesterday, and hunted for, and found, my nice hand Japanese fine cut
saw so I can cut off the rotted parts and hopefully replace nicely with new. They suggested silicone, not glue, I think I'll use
a little of each. Thankfully this is the very bottom of the door frame, so going to cut off the two side pieces about six inches up and fit
the new piece in. There is almost nothing sturdy to attach to, can see why glue/caulk is way to go. That job I have planned for tomorrow.

Frits, hope wife is feeling better this morning, same for Buppies, and glad David's wife had a good checkup.

with Ford's latest recall I wondered if recalls were getting out of hand.
no, in the 30 million range year after year
am curious what average cost per recall was
pretty sure many of these are fixable by over air updates
In last year surprising recalls for bad engines, due to bad builds, for both Toyota and GM.

Good Morning Steve,
Scott you can get the Drivers needed from Icom
Thanks Steve, I will look into that when time permits, also will order that cable on the next Amazon order that I put in 👍
I received the 40 meter / 80 meter coil yesterday after waiting at least a week. I set the antenna up in the side yard and fiddled and adjusted the coil on 40 meters until I got the SWR down to about 1.1 to 1. The tuning was very sensitive but I wrote down the tuner numbers. I also had to partially collapse the whip down 2 full sections and adjust the sliding clamp on the coil. I will mainly use the antenna on 40 and 20 meters so it really expands my operating capabilities.
Thanks for the tip on the software , I’m assuming that you can download the software from the internet?

Have a great day 👍

Good Morning,
Ct, 58 to start going to 76 or so. Another very comfortable day on tap. Kiddos are still sleeping so I think I may get a long walk in before they get up. 😉

Kathleen is having a back yard/ pool party with pizza and salad and copious amounts of wine tomorrow afternoon so will need to polish the place up a bit before all of that.

FWT, sorry property not what you really wanted or the price for that matter. We bought our property in Vermont a few months after 911 with a small cabin with electricity, septic and water for about $90K. But that was back over 23 years ago 😉 I really wanted more acreage but looking back I have more than enough to take care of and we have our privacy.
Keep looking you will find it eventually 👍
Hope all have a wonderful day 🙏

Scott, when you have time, would you take pics of your antennas?
I'm just curious....sold a lot of antennas in my Radio Shack days, but only a few special ordered short wave
ones.
funny, was just discussing dual voice coil speakers with Popgadget and here you are installing your own coil
of a different type.
Circular wrapped metal I assume? How does it tune?

It took me quite a while to figure out why so many, post 1920's, rural homes/farm structures were built so close to the main road/highway.

The answer is power poles. If your building was farther away from the power 'line' that it required your own pole(s) to reach you, then you were responsible for the cost and maintenance of 'your' pole(s).

My house is set back from the road (built 1993) as the power line is buried. If I needed power poles, I would still be required to be responsible for them.

Once again, that's about it, take care all.
i thought of that looking at land yesterday. House near road would save on electric and driveway costs. However the septic area is way back on that lot, so ideal place for house is way back. This is picture from house site looking east, back to the road. Our car is way out there. Houses south of this lot have really long driveways.
Don’t think we will be serious on either place we looked at.

Good morning
58° and sunny. High in the middle 70’s. Going to be an absolutely perfect day to be outside, which is a good thing.

There is a picnic at the RC club field, and after that I’m going to another outdoor party that goes well into the night. I’m supposed to play music at the second party. We have a time between 5 and 6.

Yesterday started with breakfast with the professor, then a batch of small chores around here, mostly inside, but did help son with building a dock, which will actually be used as a deck over the pond. Still helping wife take care of neighbors chickens, daughter came by to pressure wash the floor mats from her car.

Yes, that’s not a small line. We passed on a lot a few yrs ago due to the same gas line. Looks to be a power plant several miles east along that gas line.

64 and better humidity, going to 80. Nice for August.

Happy Birthday weekend, Ken!

Phil, I really like your recent work, and Buppies, that is an awesome pen.

Mostly, hope your sinus infection clears up soon.

Scotty, beautiful mountain pix.

I would have gone to the mountains today, but my oldest son wore me out yesterday...we chain sawed and pole sawed for 4 hours clearing lanes for a deer stand we put up a couple of weeks ago. Dragging brush and piling it up. This guy came by exactly 2 hours after we finished. I guess we didn't stink too bad.

Other lot we looked at yesterday, there are two 4.6 acre lots in here, fruit trees on back side. Up in mts near the AT, and near state forest. Nice laying land, but neighbors all have sand mound septics. Would expect bears here.

Yes all can be had from the internet (free even) Along with FT8 you will need a program called Net Timesync to keep your PC time accurate. NetTime - Network Time Synchronization Tool (also free) I do not do much with coil type antennas all mine are just wire with a balun usually the shortest being 132ft.
My main wire is 380ft Delta Loop. Backup is 204ft Dipole and 132 End Fed.
AND I use all Auto tuners (external) as the radio tuners built in don't handle much more than a 3:1 where the external auto tuners will easily match a 10:1 wire in under 3 seconds by just pushing a button or keying the radio in CW or FM.
