Ron, way back in the 50s and 60s our volunteer fire department had 'training fires' on barns destined to come down. I am guessing it was a deal set out by the owner and the Chief. Chief would set the date on a Saturday so a maximum number of members could be there.

91.9F in the shade @ 14:30.

Got the last 6 “Big Red” bell pepper plants in the ground.

Did a little weed pulling around the rhubarb and blueberries and laid out a soaker hose around them.

Uncaged the newer blueberry plants and helped pick some berries.

Ran the soaker hose on the pole beans and the winter squash on the west side of the arched trellis.

Went and got the Water Buffalo and watered/fed the 6 pumpkins along the back of the frog pond. 1+ gallons on each plant.

Came in to cool off and switch hydration over to something more refreshing than iced coffee.

Maybe a little snack too.

3 of the 23 girls bodies have been found. Our flash flood watch turned into a warning expiring tonight. Evacuations of trailer parks and apartments and the animal shelter are going on now in our town near the San Gabriel river.

The below pic is of our neighborhood dam, The 5' rock dam usually has a little spring fed trickle over it now you cannot see the dam. We only got 3" here the flood water is coming from the rains upstream.

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 4.2C and it's presently warmed up to 4.9C [@0800, heading to 15C], somewhat overcast & calm.

All in all a lovely Winter's day. As per usual, I'm off to Church in a half hour and then the rest of the day is His.

That's about it, take care all.

Good Afternoon
84° and brilliant sun.

Yesterday flowed nicely, picnic at youngest son’s, which is the house I built 40 years ago. Interesting being a guest on what was our property. But sure was nice having someone else set up, break down, cook and fuss over the details.

The brisket came out great and was a big hit.

Neighbors put on a heck of a fireworks display. They obviously hired a professional outfit as it was better than all the local municipalities.

Today I went over to the RC club field and did some flying there. Whenever the president is at his golf club in NJ, it shuts down the airspace over us, even RC flying is prohibited. Fortunately the club field is just outside the restricted airspace.
When I got back, I did a few chores and the did a rehearsal with the band.
Our drummer is in the hospital with cardiac blockage and we have gigs the next two weekends. So we had to get a substitute up to speed, as the first gig is all original material. He has played with us before, and did great.

After the rehearsal, I pressure washed the inside of the trash cans so they will less aromatic. While the pressure washer was out, I directed it towards the generator. It was looking pretty shabby compared to the fresh paint on the shed.
I did manage to blast the vinyl lettering off along with the lichen and general spluge.

The "Farm" is in a dangerous location - the flood plain of the San Gabriel river. They just posted this on Facebook:

"Thank you all so much for checking in on us
We’ve been navigating this wild flood, and while it’s been a tough time, we’re incredibly grateful to share that all of our animals and staff are safe and accounted for
🙏
🐐

We’ve got a lot of cleanup ahead, so we’ll be closed for now. We’ll keep you posted as things progress!
Your support means the world to us."

Coffee is done brewing. 66° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 89° thunderstorms in early evening. Started preparing Track-Vac for painting floor. After many years of use it down to bare metal. After Garden Pond maintainace I will work on cleaning up some more. If it does not get hot too soon may get a coat of primer down.

good morning all
warm summer day today, 68 now going up to 91.

had a nice dinner at friend's last night and helped plant about 15 flowers for them with my
cordless drill planting auger. Kept hitting rocks and construction fill and ripping drill out of my hands.
By time I was done, my wrists were not happy at all, but got it done. Then we went swimming in their big community pool,
84 degrees which is great going in. Hard to see my friend not be able to get out of his wheel chair and go swimming, his feet are both
swollen with edema and he had challenges getting around even in a power chair. Known the man all my life, hard to see him
truly falling apart. Some kind of neurological issue where he lost feeling in his leg, lots of experimental drugs that don't seem to help him
much. Makes me grateful for what I have left.

Popgadget, letters on my Generac gave up after five years in NC sun.

not sure but Ken may come over this morning and we can fiddle on a few projects. I don't have the arm strength to pull the mower
deck from out under the mower; now that Ken has exact same mower, he is an old hand at it. Plus Ken is big and strong...
So hope to get blades sharpened and maybe I'll have him poke at speakers in my car and see if we get those covers off and see how
custom the install is. Crutchfield says just bend off two of the four speakers tabs. Maybe....

otherwise calendar is pretty clear til next Friday when I head off to Lancaster with the rv.

hope you all have a nice Sunday. Best wishes for Holly and Dona, two special ladies we sure want to do well.
And I hope Frits's wife is feeling better now.

I think a cricket got in the house. Could not find it, I think by front door. That will drive me nuts til I find it.
sucker is loud, guess he wants out too.

good morning, 67 going to 87 sunny

Worked on cleaning out Mile-a-Minute overgrown slopes with the excavator carefully raking it down in a pile. Continue to find new uses for the excavator and it helps to be sitting in AC while hot outside. Also while at it turned the dirt with the bucket to make it ready for some grass seeding. Then moved some old lumber left over from the barn work using the excavator again to grab it and get it to a place where it can rot down. Moved some old fence panels out of the way as well waiting for a run to the scrap yard to get rid of them

Trimmed some fence lines as well for a couple of hours

Went to town to pick up meds for wife and toured an area that she loves

Good Morning,
Vt, 63 to start going to 85 with increasing humidity.
Fun day on the pontoon boat yesterday with the kids, they had a ball jumping off the boat onto our floating mat. We found a nice quiet corner of the lake to anchor that was shallow and had a great time.

Today our youngest son and his family are leaving, so it will just be our oldest son here with his family and then we pack up tomorrow.

Probably another hot day coming up so another day on the lake and then button up the boat tonight.

Prayers to the families that were affected by those floods in Texas🙏

Hope all have a beautiful Sunday 🙏

an excavator with a thumb is a wondrous thing...

Scott, have fun on/in the water. That sounds like a very nice place to be.

have added another length of hose to my primary watering hose here and now can drag it
over most of property. Being careful what it gets snagged on.
So I watered all the new roses and watered all the veggies and some of the flowers.
all set for a sunny hot day.

I have one luscious, fat poblano waiting for my SIL to come back from vacation.
what goes around, comes around, I get some yummy salsa back, and not too hot.

and any day the first cuke shows up is a fine day.

Good Morning
74° under a clear sky. Going to stay clear with a high of 85.
Another nice day.

Pretty much covered yesterday with my late post, only two things planned for today.
I’d like to pull the PTO generator out of the shed and exercise it, run it under a load for a little while just to maintain its residual magnetism. It’s a 50kw peak generator, the backup to my backup. Realistically, I should sell it and free up the space in the shed. I’m not good about getting rid of tools though.
The other thing is a trip out to Martha’s Vineyard to pick up one passenger. Another trip where it’s an hour drive for a 45 minute flight. Might be a good day to fly the little plane instead of driving, but that’s still a 15 minute drive, plus the time to get it out of the hangar. When you add it all up, even though it’s a less than 10 minute flight, the time saving isn’t that great.
Just realized that there is a third thing, I’ve got to retrieve my load bank from a friend that borrowed it, so that I can exercise the generator.
