Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 2.4C and it's presently warmed up to 2.9C :D . Mind you sunrise was only 25 minutes ago. High is predicted to be 16C. It's clear and calm.

As per usual, I'm off to Church in about a half hour (I'm leading the Morning Prayer service) and then the rest of the day is His. Perhaps some dhobi when I return.

That's about it, take care all.

I learned first time hauling trex, tie down good. I put in trailer with sides and back closed.
Underestimated wood need for dad’s new ramp. Local places closed at 5 pm, so will finish next trip.
Had to hand dig 2 tractor buckets of dirt to get started.

Got new outlet installed in bedroom and an AC unit now running.
Brother came to help and to mow.

78F and clear @ 22:30, heading down to around 70F for the overnight low.

High today hit 87F, dew point was in the mid-60’s so it was a little close.

Woman and I spent pretty much the entire day outside working.

Started by filling the aluminum base for the umbrella with sand. Used all we had but it could still take a little more.

Then loaded that up in the dump cart along with various garden tools and put the umbrella on my lap and ferried them to the back.

After that was done I moved the hay wagon back behind the van with the Kubota and used the forks to move all the 4 x 4’s on the saw horses onto the hay wagon.

Once that was finished I swapped out the forks for the bucket , in preparation for hauling wood chips down.

After that I headed back and unfurled the umbrella and started to weed the garden on the west side of the blueberry bushes where there isn’t any weed block fabric. Got that better than half done.

Umbrella was a hit … totally awesome … the shade it provided made it tolerable to work out there. Of course there was a little breeze which helped as well.

IMG_3706 copy.jpg

Am going to have to modify the pole so I can bolt it to the base to prevent it from lifting out.

Woman worked on weeding the flower bed. Might get that done tomorrow if She feels up to it.

She ran out and got us a sub for lunch/dinner.

Once the sun had gotten low enough that it was behind the trees and we had some shade I took the Kubota up to the shop and collected 3 long t posts and the 8’ fiberglass step ladder.

She and I got those set and driven in along the south edge of the flower bed and garden.

Then put up 65’ of 7’ tall plastic netting closing off entry to both from south.

We’ve been fortunate with no plant damage so far (other than strawberries) but it seemed like it would fairly easy to do so why tempt fate ?

So we got that done.

Heading up the shop in a few to finish coating those short t posts with phosphorica acid so I can get those painted for the next section of the arched trellis.

All in all a fairly productive day.

Should sleep good tonight.

Hope everyone had a decent Saturday.

Good evening all. 76ºF for the start, mostly clear sky, breezy. wind got up to 20 mph gusting up to 29 mph, sky partly cloudy, and high temp was 91ºF, HI 99ºF. Over slept alarm by about an hour had to hustle to hook up with rest of riders. Part way into ride another ride noticed a problem with tire, went straight hoping no flat. Trip to bike shop got tire replaced and got back into riding kit as soon ad got home. Temps in 90's for rest of ride but made it ok, just slowed down and stopped in shade when needed. No nap, not done riding until after 4:30.

Coffee is cooling in cup. 76° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 94° with lots of sun. Thunderstorm came by and made lots of noise. But no rain fall. Got maintenance on JD mower done and cut front yard grass. Spent rest of the day staying out of the heat. Going to do some maintenance on garden pond this morning. Then stay in out of the warm temperatures. So far AC has not come on yet this year. It has been tested. House temperature is 73°. Some NASCAR will be watched.

good morning all
a warm 72 going up to a hot 94 today

Mostly, you got your money's worth out of that tire.
I bet the pavement temps where you are really cook those tires

no plans for today, think I'll take it easy in the heat
going to dream of floating in Don's pool this afternoon

Good morning, the low is 66 and going up to 84°F Wind W 5 mph. Sunny & hot! We are under a heat warning. Hotter tomorrow.

When it gets really hot upstairs, we turn on the furnace fan, the cold air return duct in the basement is open year round. The basement stays about 65° steadily, so in the summer we blow the cooler air upstairs during the day and evening.

It is going to be too wet to do much of anything other than nip off the stumps at ground level today.

Mostly, the picture of your tire reminded me that Juniors trike needs 3 new tires. His are pretty bald. Canadian Tire here I come. Online only.

Have a safe day all

I need to run and get gas for the ZTR then try and cut some of the "hay" around the house. It rained yesterday afternoon so the grass is probably still wet. The humidity is sky-high so I may take the day off too. Try to stay hydrated if you work outside today.

good morning, 68 going to 92 Our location is usually 5 to 6 degrees cooler than the surrounding area due to higher elevation

The room that I am working on in the barn is also cooler due to the 3 ft plus stone walls

Mowed a couple of areas yesterday and weeded a flower bed that was overgrown. Set an appointment with a service to get the low hanging branches trimmed back along the 1000 ft driveway.

More mowing and weeding is likely on the agenda again.

Good Morning,
Vt, 66 to start going to 84 or so depending on how long the sun is out this afternoon. Hopefully the morning rain will stop so I can mow the lawn before we leave tomorrow. I bush hogged the field on the right side of the DW yesterday morning and would like to get the other side done today but I’m guessing that won’t happen. That’s another 3 1/2 hours of mowing.

Mostly, that tire looks pretty well done 😉. You got your moneys worth there. 😂

Maybe another cruise on the pontoon boat this afternoon if it clears up and dries out.

Went out with our friends last night for dinner, about a half hour north of here on Lake Bomoseen.

Guess that’s it for now, hope all stay cool and hydrated 🙏

Morning all, 79 going to 94 and sunny.
So yesterday ended up being a lot more work than anticipated.
Started by refinishing Pool bar and in between coats doing some lawn mowing.

When I went to mow the lower field, the whole path was covered in a fallen maple that split about 20 feet up.
It also was covering 3 of the newly planted and replanted trees!
So after working in the heat for 4 hours, got out the pole saw and slowly cut the maple branches around where the new trees are, expecting the worst.
So tree one, got branches cut, cage was at 45 degrees, tree fine.
Tree two, cage mushed a bit, tree damaged, but is one I don't really care about.
Tree Three is my new apple tree, it was completely covered by branches.
cut around the tips, then a few feet in, until I saw the very mangled cage.
Finished cutting now that I knew where to cut to take the pressure off the cage.
And, Apple tree in one piece !
Unbent the cage and cut up the rest of the branches. The bigger stuff can wait for the chainsaw.

So now 7 hours in at 90degrees , completely wiped out, got cleaned up and went to dinner at the newish Thai place in town.

Got home and after about an hour of resting and watching a movie, cable went down again.
So we went out back and I lit the firepit, and we sat out there with the dog watching the fire.

Cable came back up a few minutes ago.

Mostly, how old was that tire ?

Be well,
plastic scraper to 40 grit to 80 grit to 120 to 220 and then wiped clean. The old Epiphanes really did not work well at absorbing in. Trying cheaper polyurethane this time
20250621_103539.jpg

How to stain when it's super hot, umbrellas worked great. Bar looks good, will see how it fares this winter.
20250621_115227.jpg

Unexpected tree to clean up, lots of work, but happy with M18 pole saw and the apple tree survived being under hundreds of pounds of maple branches somehow.

Our solution to cable being down,
