Good Morning
48°, grey, damp and a bit of a cold breeze. Overall not the sort of weather that encourages outdoor activity. If it doesn’t change, I’ll likely start afire this afternoon.

Yesterday was pretty much the same. Not a nice day to be outside or fly. I took my neighbor (whose manure spreader I welded) with me to pick up the citation. He went to Embry Riddle in the 70’s and got his pilot and mechanic ratings, but hasn’t really used them, so it was a treat for him. Not a very scenic view.

While we were in Newburgh, a flight of 3 Ospreys came in, I was impressed, as they made the instrument approach in formation, and broke out of the clouds and into view in an in trail formation.

There are 3 in this picture if you look closely.

Won’t be any tractor or mowing time today, I’m glad that I got all caught up when the weather was decent. We do have to pick up the RAV4 from my buddy’s shop, he put all new brakes and rotors on it, and freed up the stuck calipers.

No other plans for today, but that always seems to change.

67°F and no rain

Vet appointment went well. Except annoying to have a 1:15 appointment when they reopen after lunch at 1:15 and you don’t leave for an hour and less than 5 minutes with the Dr. thought that completed puppy shots but 1 more.

Otherwise not an overly exciting day. Had hoped to catch a glimpse of the Hōkūle’a as she made way along the coast but for some reason veered further off shore just before getting to us.

Just got my hydro bill, 479 kwh over the past 30 days. $103.34. I paid more for the add on charges than the actual hydro by $58.80.

60F was optimistic this morning. It's after 2PM now and we've barely reached 51-2F and weather is saying that's the high point for today.
Rain has stopped for a few short times but is back at it right now and until tomorrow morning.

Installed the Messicks app on the iPhone for parts and parts diagrams. Very cool feature and can easily enlarge parts diagrams and see parts numbers

1.16 rain in gauge and still coming down, a nice gentle rain though.
renewed some CDs at local bank, 4%, then went to pick up car.
Felt pretty stupid, nothing wrong with 4Lo. This is an older design where you have to come to a stop,put
trans in neutral, then go into 4Lo. Once I was told about neutral, watched youtube video, pretty simple.
Most stuff is automatic now though not many vehicles other than hardened off roaders have a 4 Lo setting.
it sure would have been perfect for me climbing that mountain trail.

I asked the service dept about the mention of zerks in suspension. Turns out they are on driveshaft. ?
several techs had no idea what I was talking about, and did not know what a zerk was.
oh you mean a grease fitting? yes......and it even says zerk in the car manual.

got nav updated and the coolant changed. They said requirement is 10 years and 100k miles.
For 200 bucks, I was happy to change it at 6 years and 83k miles. They also wanted to flush the braking system
which I will do, but not this trip.

this was worth the diversion off 28 onto 28A, but better to come down from the far end, long drive through windey nothing
with the exception of one big church built back in the middle of nowhere. The water areas are up closer to 28 though I'm glad
I tried the back way once. Very precious super clean water, next stop NYC. DEP truck was on me in 15 seconds after I parked.
I showed them my camera and waived and since i clearly did not fit any profile they deemed dangerous....they waved back and went on.
so for the grace of those nice NY DEP guys, I could get these pictures. They easily could have shooed me away.

Evening all!
Currently 43 with heavy rain and high winds!
Power staying on so far.
Thought this was to cool to not post.

Bought a piece of Irish bog oak certified to be between 3000 and 8000 years old. Pretty much full of cracks and inclusions.
Hard to turn but finished well. Decided to make two projects out of it. Lots of epoxy to hold the bowl together. Pen turned great.
Kind of cool holding and working on something that old!

Raining for the next 3 days so who knows what will happen in the shop! Lol.

Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 8.3C and it's presently 14.4C, overcast with some drizzle. Fairly calm. There was 1.1mm in the gauge @ 0900.

The only thing planned for today is to head over to and open up the Church Hall for a group of beekeepers attending a State Government presentation.

As I've said, after the hectic last couple of months, it's nice to simply relax and take it easy... so,

Poured first cup of hot coffee. 38° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 55° with cloudy skies. Got laundry done, folded and put away. Grocery shopping went good. Did some concrete repair on entrance to pole barn. That was enough for a wet spring day. Today hope to get grass cut.

good morning all
looks like rainy weather finally stopped, 1.62 on rain gauge, so over 3 inches for this whole multiday event.
That's a good soaker. Cooler weather, heat is on, high in 60's today.

no plans for today other than food shopping.
I need to cut a lot of lettuce and start giving it away, too much for me to eat.
And my SIL says the radish greens are really good to eat in salads, so making sure when I pick
radishes I leave the greens on.

bought some ribs on sale and coated them in marinade/sauce last night, hope to put them on barbecue
tonight. I think first I'll bake them a little; if I do entirely on grill I tend to dry them out.

I need to go fill the bird feeders again, they look pretty low. I bought more sunflower seed yesterday, nice that it still sells
for a dollar a pound. Have tried lots of other seed but sunflowers seem the most popular, but lot of waste, lot of uneaten seed on ground.
But that's for the doves and other ground feeders; though I do need to take leaf blower out and blast everything out from under feeders so it doesn't rot more.

and yes my bb gun is working but boy those squirrels just come back. It's really quite the game we play. They know that if kitchen window opens, time to run. Bb gun will reach to back of property if I arc the shot so I can chase them all the way back to woods.
They stop about half way and then wiggle their tail at me, which I then pepper with another shot, and then they run for the woods.
The birds recognize the gun phhhttttt sound, they seem to know it's not about them, they fly right back but sometimes have to shoot around the birds
to get the squirrel. That makes them squawk at me a little...

Mostly take it slow and travel safely.

cool 47 this morning going to about 80 again today. Yesterday was perfect and should be again today.

Same as usual yesterday. Hammering. welding and climbing around in the red dirt!!
I did get a few pieces of steel fencing for reinforcement. Hopefully by the end of today I will be dumping some granite. Getting much closer!! I am ready. I probably tore off more then I could chew as a one man job but keep plugging away anyway. Should be quite a sense of satisfaction when it's done though.
Now I need to get back to it.
