Worked some more on the barn and was successful in raising the beam about 4 inches and wedging it.

Frits,
Your projects continually amaze me. You seem pretty much unstoppable and willing to take on almost any task. Usually by yourself, as well. If I remember correctly, you are over 80 and still going like the energizer bunny.

I’m also impressed that you almost always have the right tool for the job.
I have a similar affliction, where I never saw a tool I didn’t need, as well as an intense lack of patience for inferior tools.
I wish that you were closer to me, we could share.

Doing walk about found couple critters toys in odd places, one toy more than half bury, once again NuBoo figure out how to get play rope untie and drag 30' from the house, drop it as to say want to try it again.

Plans for the evening...just numb it until eye lids get heavy.

Enjoy your evening all.

Be careful with that nubooboo.

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 6:30AM. Foggy this morning, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 66F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph.

Nothing worse than having to drive/commute to classes, Ken, at least it was when I was going to Ohio State and U.C. Berkeley. Just looking at a map of the San Francisco Bay Area still gives me that sinking feeling. What a relief when I finally got into close in housing, close enough to bicycle, or walk if the weather got bad enough.

A while back a little part broke off the pump on my gas pressure washer, and it doesn't look like Generac sells the part separately. They want $160 for a new pump, but it's only gonna give me the original 2400 PSI. The idots that owned this place painted the driveway and front porch, and now the paint is peeling. I need more than 2400 PSI to get it off, and as of 1/1/24, you can't buy a small gas engined tool here in Kalifornia. So I can drive 400 miles one way to Las Vegas to get one, or make a quick trip up to Klamath Falls next time I'm at the place up north, or try to find a merchant that doesn't care about Kalifornia foolishness to ship one here. But after reading the reviews, most of them are full of complaints about leaking pumps and hard starting gas engines. Or 3000 psi electrics that pop 15 amp circuit breakers. I hate renting equipment, but I may just end up doing that.

I've been slathering one of the butcher block countertops here with a tung oil finish for the past five days, and think it may be done. It needs the nits picked off with some fine steel wool, and I'll see how much that dulls it down and decide if one last light coat will be needed.

Got some phone calls to make this morning, gonna let the day unfold from there.

Hope everyone's week gets started in the right direction...

The laptop was stuck in Los Angeles all weekend, though now I see that the tariff on Chinese electronics has been lifted, so it's a FedEx problem.
RNG where are you?
(Car 54 where are you?)

I think we could make a great team. Always amazed at your skills in such wide areas of expertise

Well, don't think I work all that much because first priority is taken care of wife

Worked since grade school every day helping dad with his trucking business and those habits have stayed with me since. My injuries are recovering and the weight training is paying off to make me stronger again

Dealer have the loader off when they worked on it recently?
No, we took loader off before they picked up the tractor. This loose bolt is hidden by the side panel, so unless you take the side off, like I did to change the oil, you don't see the bolt. You only even need the side panel off to put the new oil in, the filter and dipstick are accessible with the panel on.

whirlwind of a trip, now back home. Got rotary cutter on tractor this morning the proper way, not the way dad does it with bolts and washers.... He wanted to come out to see if I was doing it right. Had to adjust one of the 3pt pins. Tried to grease the loader, but his grease gun was empty, and I forgot to take mine.
Did mow a little to try it out, ended up mowing a pass all the way to the back line fence to check on the water pipe work, then mowed a section near the barn. Tree fell right before the work area, maybe in the storm last night. I couldn't push it out of way with tractor as pipeline guys had their trucks parked next to it, so I let it be.

Coffee has finished with brewing. 44° with light rain this morning. Heading to 59° with cloudy skies. Never got to tractor and chipper yesterday. Instead started cleaning out a storage cabinet. Then put more current stuff in it. 2 of the items was wifi plugs. Programmed them to turn garden pond pump and aerator on and off. Also got a pair of strip lights programmed for back porch. That was it for the day. Today I will install the strip lights in back porch.
Fish are enjoying my cleaned garden pond.

good morning all
60 out now getting warmer with thunderstorms starting this afternoon.
looking at national radar, that's a big system scooping down into the Gulf
bringing water North. We sure need it, looks like wet weather for several days.

got a call from mobil home park. Could you please move your parked rv forward so our lawn mower
can get behind your rv and the house nearby. Yes, it was close, because e bike still back there hanging out on rack.
totally my fault, I knew I was too far back but I was tired and depressed from talking to two rv dealers so yeah I need to
go back and move it. Since my old friends live five minutes away, good excuse to go have coffee with them.

and after a week of quiet operation, my car started making that noise again yesterday. Since it looks like no travel trailer for me for another
year, no sense having this big tow vehicle, so likely will trade it on something smaller. I think I was doomed with it anyway.
First time I've had a real clunker.

   / Good morning!!!! #206,435
68 to 86, maybe rain. We need it, too.

Pond looks real nice, Ron.

Mowed most everything yesterday. Still have a couple of trails to do. Wife went with me and Della for a hike to the river. Then lunch and a few groceries. There was a group of Search and Rescue Dog folks/dogs practicing at the park. Talked with one lady from Texas who has a yellow Lab like Della. All of the trucks/SUVs had really nice setups for their dogs.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...4 hours at part store not sure yet about afternoon.

Enjoy your day all.

Good morning, the low is 33 and going to a high of 54°F. Wind NNE 3 mph. Sunny.

No tree cutting today, wind in wrong direction. :(
I may, if I get ambitious enough, cut up one tree that came down two years ago. The limbs have been keeping it off the ground by about 5-6'. I don't know if I can get in there with the tractor. Ground is pretty soft.

I need to talk to the neighbour and see if she wants my stumps to raise her fence up some more. We built a stump fence across the front of her place to give her some sort of privacy. She plants flowers in it in summer. Winter time I pile snow on it.

It is only 260 miles from my place to where Charlie will be. NO I will not be going to see him.

I think I will dive down the rabbit hole again.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning,
Vt, 50 to start going to 65 or so. Clouds moving in from the west, and rain to start around 11 and end by 4.

Frits, I have to agree with Paul about what you do and have done at your age. Absolutely amazing and I hope to be able to do what you do 10 years from now.

Billy, glad you managed a nice hike with Della and your wife.

Yesterday I started to rough cut some stock out to make the rear rocker spindles. I seem to be consumed by studying for my HAM license lately.

Need to get out behind the barn and finish splitting some wood I dumped with the tractor the last time I was here 😉

Hope all have a great day 🙏

Buppies I'd like my glucose to be 75...nabbed at 109 last week. Feel better today.

headed out shortly but first ordered some calcium supplements for my tomatoes and peppers, to prevent end rot.
I used a lot of it in NC, had 130 tomato plants I think and I used the foliar spray in a two gallon sprayer.
have the foliar and also some calcium-mag supplements that I mix in a watering can and get it into the dirt.
The soil has plenty of regular fertilizer, nitrogen plus worm castings.

should be light traffic this morning
then home to mow out along the road, forgot to do that before
I always wait at the end and then go like heck before someone hits me on that first pass.
I'll put my little flashing led lights on. Some folks don't slow down at all if they see someone working right next to the road.
and then I hope the rains come this afternoon. And tomorrow. And the next day. Crops are planted, c'mon rain
