For years I had the habit of rarely carrying change, usually putting on dresser at night, eventually moved to container. We were living in Atlanta at time. Sophie’s nephew was about to graduate from ASU and invited us. Times were a bit tight so didn’t expect we could attend. Sophie disagreed and hauled out the change stash and began rolling. I don’t think coin mchines were popular yet. I helped of course. Had enough for 2 plane tickets to Phoenix plus. We went.

good afternoon, getting colder currently 36 and sunny

Picked up a new Stihl 261 CM this afternoon with 18 inch light bar. The older 261 CM has a 20 inch bar. The new saw is significantly lighter than the old one.
Repairing the Stihl 026 to use for lighter stuff.
The Makita 16 inch chainsaw is handy to use for smaller occasional use.
That should get me ready for cutting some serious firewood for next year

D left this morning for meetings in NY
Other daughter is having packages delivered to our house for her Christmas presents to avoid the porch pirates. There is a mountain of them so far.

Brushing Cody daily has helped with tangles and reduced the fur balls rolling around the house. Shelties sure have a lot of fur. Teeth brushing has cleaned up his teeth except a couple of small patches on his corner teeth. The vet was not too concerned about it at the recent visit.

Cleaned up the shop area yesterday which is a never ending job it seems. I have a lot of flat surfaces attracting stuff it seems. Hope to have some more time to devote to some rearranging of the space

Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 12.5C and it's presently 25.8C, clear & fairly calm.

Wagtail - hope and prayers the surgery goes well.
Thanks Mate AND to all who've expressed their prayers & concerns. I received an email from my Aunt that the surgery went well and my Sister is recovering... possibility of her returning home tomorrow morning! Surgeries, these days, are truly miraculous... minimally invasive and a 'quick' recovery. Yay!

Nothing really accomplished yesterday as I tried to stay close to my phone for any 'updates' on my Sister.

It's warm out there but I think that I will do a mowing, at least around the house & driveway.

That's about it, take care all.

Good Evening,
The paid version, since I use it a lot. Peterbilt sounds like fun.
Billy, today was a good day to be out on the road ! Some days not so much, eg rain !

retrieved 2 very soggy, wet boxes
me too, found a box of citrus on front porch this morning, was supposed to go to neighbor
across street, had to get rid of soggy box and put the fruit in ziplocs. I had one of the oranges and it was
very good.
So Drew your eating the neighbors fruit ? 😳
I received an email from my Aunt that the surgery went well and my Sister is recovering... possibility of her returning home tomorrow morning
Randy , super news ! 🙏

Sorta, kinda similar.
Last spring I went to the bank and withdrew 1k.
I don't like to carry more than I need so I put $800 in the sunglass holder in my everyday vehicle.
This and that and I forgot about it.
This fall I was going to do the same thing again.
Abracadabra I suddenly had an extra $800.

Jim, didn't you say you mostly bike now, and don't do much tramping?
You've got a great memory. Yes I'm into E-biking. Up to 30Ks on a Wednesday and around 40 every Sunday.
I have never been into hiking although we do have some great trails and scenery. The 3 presumably dead (2 Americans and 1 Canadian) were experienced climbers. some of their equipment has been sighted and it is assumed they have falen and not survived. The TV programme "NZ Hunter Adventures" has some great scenery.
While I visit this site each day I dont say much because, like Wagtail my seasons ar opposite yours. right now I'm visiting Sydney, it's 30C degrees, and im waiting to go on a Christmas/New Year cruise.
Someones got to do it.

23 outside this AM, heading to lower 40's. No precipitation expected.

Maybe a good day to hang the Christmas lights. Since, you know, the holiday is right upon us. Wow, time flies.

Managed to get out with the wife yesterday and find a nice piece of cherry for the shelf. Local lumber yard that does high quality work on lumber. I don't like going there because his selection and workmanship is flipping unreal. Just beautiful wood. So many ideas and you want to come home with it all. We spent more time looking, just because. It was nice to get out too, away from this grind.

Morning chores are calling. So are some owls who woke me up by the bedroom window. Hooting softly back and forth. Just enough low frequency sounds to get me moving.

Hope all have a great start to the day, and a good weekend. Be safe.

Hot coffee has been poured. 9° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 21° with mostly sunny skies. Shoveled walkways without any problems yesterday. Decided to go grocery shopping. Got it done with no problems except for getting car with gas. Wind and cold temperatures made it very uncomfortable. Good thing I only needed 7 gallons. Rest of the day was spent staying in the house where it was warm. No plans for today.
With all the freezing and thawing. Getting some different ice formation from pond aerator. These are what I call icebergs.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
hooting owls is a very neat sound though pure terror to a mouse...

cold clear morning, no plans until estimator from fence company comes at 11am.
I only need four 8 foot sections, very small job for them. The materials are about 500 bucks at Lowes, hopefully they
don't want more than 500 for the labor.

Jim Shooz, always a delight to hear from you. I think of all the islands to live on, besides Hawaii, you picked a good one.

nice icebergs Ron!

I got in some storage racks too, heavy box came yesterday, might fool with that today though likely will wait for a warmer day.

need to get car washed today so that means heading over to Doylestown this afternoon.
I need to hunt through car again, can't find my new reading glasses. Took them with me to read in car waiting for doc appt, now I can't find where they got to. Time to look under the seats.
I am exceptionally talented at losing stuff

Morning all!
22 going to a partly sunny 28 for the high. Looks like low for tonight will be 11! Brr!
Visit with friend went great yesterday! Sucks that they live two hours away as we would go more! He is suffering from a stroke and the hospital and insurance sure don't make it easy to get the help needed to recuperate!
Dropped off the forest of trees on the way home and got a nice tip from the buyer!

Will head to the bank today and possibly stop to see if anything sold at the other store I put on consignment. Will also spend time in the shop as I haven't been down there in a while.
Bad news on the new wood lathe! Now not arriving till late February! BOO!!!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Good morning TBN!!

26 this morning with a mostly sunny high of 50+
Walked the dog yesterday. Been cheating on my steps (only 7k) to get the dog wore out. Running him with the 4 wheeler :) .

I did start looking at the rail buggy. It's mostly starting over. That's what happens when you step away for a month. I don't remember very much of the research I did. Joy of ageing. 🙄

Probably about the same today. Just got to keep at it.
I maybe able to walk across the river today. I could see most of the stones I step to cross yesterday. Just don't want to get wet! May work on cleaning up the shop if I don't work on the buggy. It's a mindless never ending chore.
Time to pour another cup and get started!

Have a great and safe day!!!

Mpham, sorry about late lathe.
When I was a teen, went to a Christmas party that a church member had at his house for the teens. He was a woodworker, and when he found out I liked wood working, he showed me his wood shop. He had a lathe, and I had never seen or used one, so he showed me how to turn a piece of wood. Think it was a candle holder. Don’t know what become of it. That family moved away, so never used a lathe again, but still remember him taking the time to show me how to turn something on a cold winter night.

22° was the low, now 26°
Geo units keeping up. A good soaking rain likely helped the ground loops.
Christmas coming faster than I can prepare. Trying to get my office significantly cleaned out and straightened up with a lot of the unused stuff (like college textbooks, old software) moved to basement shelves. Don’t know what to do with the 30+ hats. I still have stuff on the walls the kids did in grade school.
Need a cabinet to store small tools, like airflow meter, fractometer, thermometers, micrometer, scales, and bunch of stuff like that. If they were organized, maybe I could find them?
I do have an old TV cabinet (oak, homemade) in the room, with junk piled in where the TV used to sit. I need to make doors for front and put in shelves, and a backing.
Wife still wants me to paint bathroom walls.

Good Morning,
Ct, 20 to start going to 30 ! Cold and clear with a slight breeze !

Bad news on the new wood lathe! Now not arriving till late February! BOO!!!
Phil curious on what your buying, I always like looking at wood working equipment! Sorry it’s late !

Looks like more gift wrapping is in my future today, both home and at the FD for the Children’s Christmas Party this Sunday ! Also the first selectman in town has asked me to do some research on erecting a monument for deceased Veteran Fire Fighters. I kind of got roped into this project!

Better get going, hope all have a great day ! 🙏
