I've had a hankering for fried oysters for about a month now. Finally broke down and made them this afternoon. Turned out pretty good for first time making them.

I always remember the name Barney Oldfield but didn't know it came from tractors.
I found this video well worth the time. Watch when you have a little time.
Allis Chalmers fans will love it.
when tractors went from steel wheels to rubber
and when tractor racing was a really big deal

I bet the Europeans turn up their Fendts and go racing

am amazed those rear tires stayed on their rims at that speed, they must have some kind of bead lock?

always found tractors to get wobbly and unhappy at higher speeds. Last one, the big Massey, it's top gear was one I never tried.
clearly made to go a lot faster than I wanted to.

I also found the sound of a Kubota hydro whining at top speed to be kinda unpleasant.
all the fast stuff must use powershift gear trans where they can add a taller top gear I guess.

so....begs the question
how fast have you gone on your tractor?

I believe some are rated from factory at 30+mph.
Most of us have/had hydros so top gear in those is much lower usually.

if I was in Texas and had four miles to get back to the barn, and the road was flat,
need for speed sure comes in
but if you are towing anything, can't imagine going too fast with that.

ever see a combine going by at 30mph? I haven't....
Roughly of the top of my head;
Quite a few of the newer tractors with front axle suspension and front brakes can do 30 mph a few up to 35 mph,
Most with the front suspension can do 25,
Many can do 20 mph.
Then of course there is the JCB lineup of Fastrac's hang on for up to 43 mph.

I remember the scene in Footloose, where they played chicken with tractors. I always thought it was so stupid, never thought real farmers would do something like that with their tractors.
How's about square dancing with tractors :) here's a short video,

It’s very quiet recently. Ride to Princeton today just a short visit saw some snow on ground came back averaged 21.5 mpg not bad considering terrain on US460.

May all have a great night

Drew have not seen or heard of and tractor racing in Midwest.

Scott(vt) bet pizza party was fun and yummy. I use briquettes with mesquite which adds flavor :) Love the pic.
Don sorry no Costco run, hope lawn mow and grocery run were successful. Hope burner was SS. Takes a bit to get hot water to faucets here. Glad Hospice had a good day.
Buppies nice car pics. Glad ram may be ready, and BS hanging in there. Livongo wants me to check BS in morning, but I am trying to get a handle on what drives BS whacko and what does not. Highest reading has been not eating and drink 2-3 cups of partially caffeinated black coffee. prayers sent

Kyle I agree, that's why never tried to put leash on cat :). We put a warming pad out on work bench for outside cat, he would come to porch when ready to go in at night. Had to nail down carpet over pad because cat wanted straight on pad we didn't think it was good for him.

36 going to 61.

Kyle, hope the boss situation ends to your liking.

Engineer, oysters are about my favorite food, and yours look delicious.

Buppies, that sounds like a nice drive. Never been all the way to Princeton, think we turned around at Narrows.

Ron, sounds like a rest day is deserved.

Seems like a habit...roasted 3 batches of coffee, then took Della to the park for a hike and a swim in the increasingly colder river. I stayed up on the rocks.

Morning all!
Cloudy 40 out going to a high of 45.
Coffee with family went well. Guest headed home yesterday. Spent a few hours with my cousin cutting and prepping logs into usable size once they left. Need to seal the ends this morning to slow down or eliminate the cracking.

Will be heading out to wife's family today after lunch and tomorrow for a breakfast meet up. She is celebrating 62 trips around the sun yesterday! My side did it at the coffee meeting.

Kept busy in the shop the last few days. Mill owner paid me to make a special display item for his office. I didn't want any money as he gave me a load of wood already! He insisted I take it and use it for shop supplies.
I decided to make him two dishes and a holder.

I also decided to play with a block of wood and see if I could make a bent stem for an idea I had in my head. It worked pretty good. Made a hollow box flower out of apple with a padauk cover for the seed pod. Used green and brown dye on the base.

Working on a few other projects that should be completed this week.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!
