Went to discount tire. They pulled the short screw and no leak. They said they would not have plugged it on the side like that. Glad no leak, there must have been at least 20 people waiting and it would have taken a long time.
But, it looks like there may be a Brad nail further in middle of tire. I’m leaving it be.

Sorry, but even the idea of "hands free driving" scares the sheet out me. There's no way I'd let that take control of my car/truck!!!

Please explain why you'd want that...
that's easy
these systems by GM and Ford only work on divided highways, interstates, big roads that have on and off ramps.
never was intended for back road. So for me this is just for trips. I live in a country area with very windy roads, no way would I trust something using lidar and cameras to navigate that.

I have very bad arthritis in my hands constant gripping of the steering wheel aggravates. Being able to take hands off wheel and massage wrists and just let them relax, but at the ready for sure. You have to pay attention no matter what.
pretty sure we can thank Starlink for all the gps/geocaching used to keep cars within four inches of center of lane.
The nav data is real time, the latest available; not like the five year old nav maps in my car now.

so super cruise and blue cruise are a combination of adaptive cruise, which has been out since early 2000's, and gps driven nav location, plus cameras and lidar for pedestrians, animals, etc. I think it's a safety aide to driving, not the primary driver.
Where this went crazy was Musk promising folks full self driving, totally overstating real world capabilities of their system, and people not paying attention drove into the back of fire trucks, and a variety of things they should not have.
I don't care if it can drive around a circle, I wouldn't trust it since other cars do crazy things in circles and you just can't continue through it at the speed limit.
if we want true self driving, we need to take the bus or train.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 16.1C and it's presently 22.0C, lightly overcast & calm.

It should be a repeat today as yesterday; more wood stacking. Although the 'wine faeries' did drop off a couple of cases at the PO. Two more are expected... 'tis the season and all that. I've got guests coming at the end of December, so it's not all for me.

That's about it, take care all.

Good Evening
Been blowing cold rain and flurries all day, 36° outside now. Just not a nice day to be outside.

Wife packed up and went off to a “fiber festival” until Sunday evening. That leaves Zoe and I to hold down the fort.
She never gets people food, her McDonalds hamburger have her a case of the #3’s. I think that she is over it now, which is good.

Had lunch with some friends, music got called off for tonight, did some chores, lit a fire and put my feet up next to it.
Still there…..

Probably this a couple more logs on the fire and hang out before its bed time.

It was recommended to me to get handicap placard (hanger) instead of plates, because you can use in any vehicle.
Just delivered son to his DR appointment, actually PT I think.
Yes that is convenient, but here you can only get 1, so don’t change vehicles and forget. I try to take with us when we travel. But also forgot it in the rental in Alaska. Having both works and we put plate on the most used vehicle. Soph rides more that drives. Only 14k on her 2016 Pilot and I probably drove most of those.
Prayers for your son’s rapid recovery.

Son doing ok so far. They went in 3 places on the shoulder. He can’t use the muscle for 6-8 weeks. His dominate arm.

My Dad told me when I first started driving, 'YOU control the machine, the machine does NOT control you. I will use cruise control ONLY on dry roads in the daylight hours.

I heard noises today that Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security are both going up. Sounds to me like our Prime Minister is buying votes. I think we will have an election next spring.

Other than spending too much at Costco again, day went well.

Primary reason to go to Kona was to sell the Ridgeline. Got what I was offered, minus adjustment for the tires, which I expected. The adjustment was less than dealer quoted to replace so was a better deal. I may have gotten more with a private sale, but doubt it would have been enough to balance the hassle.

First time got the pizza for lunch at Costco. Enjoyed it, brought half home.

Poured first cup of coffee. 39° with light rain this morning. Heading to 45° with clouds all day. Got vent tube installed on tractor axle. Used a box wrench and plastic mallet to install. It drizzled heavy mist all day. So I spent time in shop making a hitch pin for drawbar on tractor. Helped neighbor load up tractor and Trak-Vac on on trailer. Will be doing a friends leaves. That is unable to get it done this year. Hope to get at garden pond net today.

39 looking for 57, and windy. Little bit of rain here yesterday, but snowed enough that Shenandoah closed the Skyland Drive.

We took my wife's Highlander in for its annual inspection...I've mentioned before that the Toyota dealer doesn't charge anything, and has a fancy coffee/latte machine. Plus, I get to walk around and drool at the new Tundras and Land Cruisers...but boy was the inventory sparse...the service guy said they were mostly sold before they arrived.

For a couple of years they've been using text messages to keep you informed of the status of your service, but this time they added a feature...a video made by the tech as he shows you what he is talking about if he recommends something...this one featured the rear brake and brake fluid reservoir...saying the pads are good now, but likely needs replacement before next annual inspection...so left with a $0 bill, and went straight to our favorite Chinese restaurant. Good day.

I always remember the name Barney Oldfield but didn't know it came from tractors.
I found this video well worth the time. Watch when you have a little time.
Allis Chalmers fans will love it.
when tractors went from steel wheels to rubber
and when tractor racing was a really big deal

I bet the Europeans turn up their Fendts and go racing

am amazed those rear tires stayed on their rims at that speed, they must have some kind of bead lock?

always found tractors to get wobbly and unhappy at higher speeds. Last one, the big Massey, it's top gear was one I never tried.
clearly made to go a lot faster than I wanted to.

I also found the sound of a Kubota hydro whining at top speed to be kinda unpleasant.
all the fast stuff must use powershift gear trans where they can add a taller top gear I guess.

so....begs the question
how fast have you gone on your tractor?

I believe some are rated from factory at 30+mph.
Most of us have/had hydros so top gear in those is much lower usually.

if I was in Texas and had four miles to get back to the barn, and the road was flat,
need for speed sure comes in
but if you are towing anything, can't imagine going too fast with that.

ever see a combine going by at 30mph? I haven't....

good morning, 37 going to 50 snowing all day yesterday but only wet this morning

Going down to discount tires to get the new rim installed. They likely did not make any money on the tires after having to replace the rim.

Gave a big turkey to daughter that is home from the rehab job

All parts are in for the van. Should be ready Monday. Hopefully they will pick me up

D was asked for what remedies she was looking for in the work issue complaint. She likely will have him write a formal apology but since that manager is gone end of year does not matter much

I would pay serious ticket money to see a bunch of old combines racing around a track.
Not a demo derby but racing of sorts
tractors pulling empty grain carts
then maybe a class for hay/forage cutters and Hay Dude could compete.

Thing is I bet this goes on out in the Midwest during slack time, something different from
tractor pulls. They are fun but racing is better. Some of these well to do farmers have some very fancy
tractor toys that no longer have to work the fields. Instead they get hopped up and used for recreation.

I hear the Klass combines are the fastest... ;) :giggle:
I wonder if the Germans take their combines to AMG, they love to go fast with their big tractors
on public roads. AMG has done boats, maybe combines?...

I think Buppies needs to get an AMG sticker from his dealer
and put it on his tractor. Guaranteed faster speed. Plus it looks cool.
wait, of course, it's on Amazon...

of course reality is in the 1-6 mph range, I think some tillage goes up to 10mph

so you are riding around all day at 4mph.
I can see why you want to go faster after work

   / Good morning!!!! #199,720
I remember the scene in Footloose, where they played chicken with tractors. I always thought it was so stupid, never thought real farmers would do something like that with their tractors.
