Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #197,961
all tucked into a very nice spot at the Cajun Heritage campground in Beaux Bridge LA.
got off one stop this morning early on to get gas and food.
Got back on highway and realized I had forgotten the food.
felt pretty stupid.
went on til next big town, Sulphur and there was a Brookshire Bros nearby and that's where I headed. I think I was the only person in the store, very strange but then not many people out on street either.

I can now officially proclaim that Houston drivers are seriously aggressive.
Some lead footed Louis, mostly in pickup trucks.
lot of road construction headed East on 10, not a pleasant cruise.

had nice chat with lady at desk here. Had to make sure they didn't have live entertainment tonight and she said no, very quiet tonight.
I told her I was headed to NO for gumbo and she said that was different gumbo.
Creole gumbo had beef and pork sausage where NO gumbo added tomato and okra.
Kind of reminds me of two kinds of clam chowder on East coast.
She suggested I go to a nice restaurant down the street.
Bet I could get some heartburn for breakfast there.

Texas sun up. Lots of oil field trucks. Definitely in a swamp.

going to send up drone through all these trees and see what I can see.
you just never know

Temps are currently dropping. High of 61° might have already happened.
Breezy out. Need to mow. Colder tomorrow. Back maple tree about bare already.
Buppies, hope you feel better.

I finally get Columbus Day off. One I used to have to work.
In retirement, it’s no Holidays off… or is it all holidays off?

I don't think there's anything here other than algae and bugs
I might try going up higher later
plus pics are dark again

Restaurants Norleans
If the locals eat there it's probably good, and looks awful :)

The bigger bugs are in the water, swimming not suggested.

My friend and former Cajun coworker is from that area. He gave me the jambalaya recipe I use.
Would love some of that creole right now, yum.

lol, I’m working today, so I must not have gotten it off.
Glad Sophie got back safe and sound.
Got yard all mowed up. Wind was wicked, blowing everything in the face when going the wrong direction. Tried to minimize that. Am covered in stuff. I did wear a face mask.

Took down my dish tv antenna and put it in the barn. Will remove the old receiver later. Hasn’t worked in over 2 years. Even pulled in the coax cable thru the wall. Need to caulk that hole.

Took down deer netting from around garden.

edit: old dish receiver has HD removed, and it is trash. Saw a burnt capacitor inside, the reason it stopped working..

Crayfish or locally called Crawdads made the Creole way is great eating.
We got them live in a large bucket and left them in the bucket for a couple of hours to expel sand. Boiled with creole spices and they turn dark red and ready eat. Twist the head off and eat the tail.
Attended conferences in NO and remembered the great restaurants for sea food. An easy town to entertain clients in, they all loved it

Wilda our neighbor in Houston was from NO and she often had family and friends from there come over for parties and we were invited as well. It was wild and fun with lots of local LA/NO food and lots of booze. Wife got the recipes and tried most of it out on me. Delicious

Drew, one restaurant if you have time is the one founded by Leah Chase, chef, author, and TV personality. Her kids recently took it over but she was known as the Queen of Creole Cuisine. Restaurant is called Dooky Chase and was named one of the most important restaurants.
She was honored with a lifetime achievement award and had many honorary degrees from a host of universities and colleges

I don't know if you remember the ammonia leak accident in Houston May 11, 1976. It involved a tanker truck carrying anhydrous ammonia that crashed down on Southwest Freeway and killed 7 and injured 200
Wife was in her car on the way to an appointment and was just a few seconds away from the overpass that the truck crashed down from. Very lucky indeed
Yes, I remember it.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 7.4C and it's presently 15.8C, high/light overcast with a wee breeze [finally!][[oh, who am I kidding, the wind will continue to blow, it's just tiresome after so many days]]

Good, quick, trip to town yesterday for the PO and petrol. I'm glad that I included a 20ltr diesel 'can' as the prices were down! A$1.71 for diesel.

Nothing really planned for today.

That's about it, take care all.

Scott, every time you mention Gintys' name he is alive in your heart. You will see him again at the rainbow bridge.

My 25 lb Tom cat disappeared, he hasn't been home for two days. I like to think that he found a better place to live, but in reality I think he was food for a predator.
