Good morning!!!!

Spent some time reviewing first draft of D's stinging letter to senior management. This can go well or really bad. Not sure which but it is sure to get attention. She has lots of guts for doing this.
Just a snippet of the letter below that gives you an idea of the tone

"Instead of fostering fair competition and allowing all qualified staff to compete for these roles, the practices aligned to many of these opportunities are pre-filled by pre-designated individuals. This practice completely undermines the Department’s equity goals, as it denies staff the chance to advance based on merit and performance. It also highlights the divide between individuals who have been within the bureau for a long time, and the perception that they are therefore owed opportunities, vs. Individuals who have been in dept for less time."

Good morning! Low of 50°, heading towards 80°. High clouds, but sunny. Some rain chances might show up next Friday. I hope so... it's been over a month since the last sprinkle.

Had a strange plant death....a Blue Atlas Cedar. It was planted spring of '23, was doing great, grew almost 2' taller. I noticed a little brown at the bottom so went to investigate..... as soon as I touched it, the needles just fell off! We were both in shock.... no apparent reason at all as to why it died.

Today's agenda will involve digging it out and planting a different replacement. That should kick my butt for the day.

Morning all, 66 going to 76 and sunny, dry.
Went out for appetizers and a drink for the wife.
Keeping costs down as full dinners have gotten out of hand around here.

M7040 - good luck to your daughter on that letter. Honesty sometimes works, hope this is the case.
I am in an industry where picks are based on what you are vs. accomplishments in many cases.
When I worked Wall street, sometimes people were picked based on entertainment value or eccentricity. I can't remember how many times our team came in to fix those messes.

All of you with Halloween tractor pulls making me jealous, looks like fun even with the long hours.

Sorry about your tree LS, we had a white pine die after surviving a bad deer rub 2 years earlier. It seemed to be doing well, then it went brown in less than a week this last spring.

Still need to do more watering, we have lots of trees showing distress, dead ground cover and plants that are only surviving due to my hours of watering.
Afraid to use the firepit right now as so dry.
But I know eventually we will get rain.

Be well,

Staying cool for the foreseeable future. High in 50s. Lows getting close to frost. Today clear and sunny.
Lots to do. Don't want to do those jobs.
Thanksgiving weekend for us here in Kanuckistan.
So I'm going to be thankful and go for a cruise in the GT.
Round and round we will go. Where we'll stop, nobody knows.
Fill up of ultra premium should be aboot $125+- from the poor quarter she sits at now.
Hopefully it lasts the afternoon.😁

67°F and 0 rain

Got this round of mowing done - finally. And it isn’t pretty. I’ll be starting next round soon.

Need to switch gears and start getting these insurance inspection photographs.

Some stray black and white cat showed up just before dark and started making these god awful noises. Simba, our cat wasn’t happy and joined in. The dogs were even less happy and did their best to keep him at a distance. Fortunately he gave up about 8pm.

Sophie’s brother and sisters made it to Vegas for today’s event. I gather the consensus isn’t the most positive. Sophie already says she has no intention of going to Vegas again. Don’t think the nephew is getting high marks for planning. Glad I had to stay home and pet sit

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

We went out at noon today and put the wood in the basement. My conveyor chain stopped working and I almost burned the belt off. I'll go out tomorrow and see if I can get it working again.
At least all the wood is inside. Wood bucket is off and material bucket back on. Compost piles turned.
Next job is to take the hoe off and put the back blade on for the winter.

Texas Cotton Gin Museum was very interesting, plus they were starting up an old Super H while we were there, and once it fired, zero smoke and smooth as could be.
Certainly an original patina with that early FEL.
twin cylinder fuel oil engine made about 125hp, ran large cotton gin through shaft that goes 85 feet in length. I hope Kyle makes it back here when they fire this engine up at next festival.
very cool place, I liked the part about the Sucker. You could see the pipe coming down to suck up the cotton

Kyle, my rv hero of the day. Scrambled right under there and replaced that valve.
he gets a major Attaboy! for this one

am looking forward to Kyle and his wife picking me up to go to steakhouse downtown.
Hopefully one of the kids will come but I'm happy just to be here.
we had a wonderful lunch at Mexican restaurant in Barton.
