Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 6:45AM. Sun and clouds mixed. Warm. High 89F. Winds light and variable.
Finally some cooler weather, and I won't be around to enjoy it. But the weather down south will be even milder.

Policed up around the house for any last minute scraps of metal yesterday morning, then headed, hopefully for the last time, to the junk yard. They really saw me comin' this time. I got nothing for the old gutters and downspouts, and only thirty-five cents a pound for sixty-five pounds of scrap aluminum. And they wouldn't even take the CRV aluminum beer cans. Tried to find another recycler in Chico, and it seems they're all out of business. How can that be in such a liberal and green minded city?

Lots of stops yesterday in town, an Amazon return, another one at Tractor Supply, and a third at Home Depot. Automotive paint store had a custom mixed spray can ready and it looks like a pretty good match. After all that stop'n'go I noticed the engine in the truck cranking a little slow, so I skipped a stop at a grocery store and just came home. I'll deal with it when I come back in a couple of weeks, and leave it hooked up to a Battery Saver.

Had a nibble on the shipping container yesterday morning, fella said he'd be over at 6PM to buy it. But at 5 he called to say he was having trouble finding someone to move it. The only one he talked to said the container was too long to make it past two turns in his driveway. I put him in touch with my contractor neighbor, who has lots of experience with such things. Then late last night got another nibble from someone, but too late to call back when I read it. It'll be a couple weeks before I'm back up here, so I hope he's patient.

Hump Day already...

massey rider, I think summer went to Texas.

Lit the wood furnace yesterday evening. First fire of the 24-25 season.

Got the wood conveyor out and chain adjusted and greased. She even started up. Next dry day I will put the wood in the basement. I think I will run out of wood this winter. It's a good thing I've got 3100 Liters (700 Imperial gallons) of home heating oil.

68°F and .52 inches rain

Good Dr visit for Sophie. Took her off her meds. Need to return Thursday for a pressure check, hoping it holds steady without the drops.

Leisurely lunch at a please we had’t visited since pre pandemic. Had forgotten how tasty the food.

Did get some mowing in after getting home with mower performing excellently.

Hope to finish up today but I hear it raining so apparently wx isn’t likely to cooperate.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great w

Steps for dad’s porch. 3/4” from my house build in 1997. Pieces were cut out from stair opening.

Found this a little bent, don’t remember that happening.

Good morning! Low of 49°, going up to 80°. Sunny.

Paul, grading looks great! Being complete on the outside --- big check mark on the list! Saw 2 guys flying a couple of the Eflite carbon cubs at the local soccer field. --- I must get one of those... great flyers!

Drew, hope you don't run into too much traffic. Enjoy your time with the visits. Have you checked the eastern campgrounds? Hope they didn't suffer any damage....

Fritz, double steel plates on each side of the beam should hold it up. Through bolts about every 16-20", 1/2" diameter sufficient. Years ago (40), did 3 beams in a historical registered house in New Hope Pa. As far as I know, still standing strong.

Ken, looks like good progress. Sorry you still need to cut / split more for winter. Not easy work for sure! Sorry about your dad and medical isues.

Ron, that's a big frog! They don't grow like that out here!

RNG, hope the sale of the container goes easy...
Hope they can wait for your return trip. Containers here are high dollar -- a 40' one trip goes for around $5K at auction. Plus very pricey delivery, based on a minimum of $250, plus $3-4 per mile RT. That's why I don't have a couple....

Everyone have a great day!

LS, now you know why I went with Shelter Logic portable shelters. The ones I have are about a grand each. Replacement canvas is around $500.oo each. Also my tractor wont fit in a tin can (shipping container) without cutting the door off and cutting part of the floor out, too. Tractor from ground to top of cab is 96" and I have a LED carnival light on top so add another 3".

Last nights dinner was wife's version of meatballs. Very tasty

Neighbor continues the excavation around the new pole building. Excavated very close to our property line and looks to be 6 to 8 ft down. Talked to the contractor and they said it was supposed to be a North South orientation and mid stream was changed to East West orientation so hence the reason for all that dirt work after the building is up. Looks like in front of of the doors they are excavating the steep slope further and making terraces that will be block walled. Hope they will also block wall the area next to the property line to prevent collapse

LS and Scott thanks for your suggestions. Brought down the Bosch laser survey equipment and will take some measurements to better determine what needs to be done. The East West beam running across the building is sagging as well and jacking up the end at the doors above really brought that to light. Sandwiching plates on the sides makes sense and I have seen that done of barn restorations however the beam was only axed flat on the top and bottom originally so some work with an ax will be needed to be flatten the sides and further to complicate it there are ducts and wiring in the way

Greetings GM'ers !

Sunny and a cool 60F @ 14:15, LWS was calling for a high of 61F for the day, think we may have already hit that.

Woman's hearing is much better, cough is still horrible ... :(

Worked in the garden yesterday, mainly picking but also started some clean up.

Habanero harvest:

IMG_3450 copy.jpg

Early Jalapeño's:

IMG_3451 copy.jpg

Hot Lemon's:

IMG_3452 copy.jpg

Still a good amount of each out there, some fully ripe - especially the Habaneros - that still need picking.

Got some Medium Hot Blocks and a California Wonder bell pepper as well. Still more those two out there as well.

Got the hopper and both tube feeders refilled, plus scattered some seed for the ground feeders.

Woman wanted a burger yesterday afternoon so I fired up the grill and cooked up a couple for dinner.

After that I started working on cleaning the Jalapeños and the Hot Lemons and got them put in the oven to start drying them.

Hot Lemons just about done at this point, Jalapeños still have a ways to go.

Agenda for the rest of the day:

Get up to shop and get info on Hobart welding helmet for friend.

Start prepping the Habaneros for drying.

Prep the Medium Hot Blocks and California Wonder for packaging with new vacuum sealer and get those stuck in the freezer.

Ten Day shows cool temps for the most part, one day with a high in the 70's with lows in the upper 30's for several days. Killing frost/freeze probably not too far off.

Way behind on this thread.

Hope everyone is have a Happy Hump Day ... (y)

good thing we have a bunch of engineers here, supporting a barn is way over my pay grade.

well rt 35 coming down the middle of the state has about as much appeal as the
NJ Turnpike. All concrete, six to eight lanes wide, full of traffic
going on the 820 beltway worked very nicely, avoided any slowdown

got off on Ronald Reagan blvd which goes to campground past Sun City and somehow drifted off into another lane and never knew it, now back on service road for 35.
Finally took a right which took me over to Reagan Blvd.

today's spot is a real rv resort, all the amenities and they provide, at almost double the cost, the option of parking under a roof. This is rarely seen in the the East but probably is most common in Florida and Texas.
I am in the least expensive cheap seats backed in, but still nice. Enormous concrete pad, Don can pull in front easily.

had a sandwich, need to lie down, take a shower, and then I hope my TBN Host of the day will whisk me over to his personal spa. My neck hurts from driving and I bet that water will feel good.

and a little pic for you Nascar guys, this place was huge

Sorry about your FB account. Messenger is the way most FB accounts get hacked, so I refuse to use Messenger, and I only us FB via a browser, not the app. I know many people with 2nd account after they lost their first one, but you are starting over, you don't have access to the old info. I also don't give FB my phone number, but they keep trying to get it. That's another way hackers get access.

New pad for old sander came, got that put on. The new 18V bosch sander came the other day, it's nice. now I have 2 orbital sanders. steps for dads house ready to go.

I cancelled my Dish Network account after 25 yrs. Lady said it's cancelled 2 days from now at end of current billing cycle. But I just got an email welcoming me to the Dish Protect plan, so it looks like they are going to make this hard to cancel. I'll find out in 2 days. I never signed up for auto pay with them, so they will not be getting any more from me.
