Current weather for Mohnton, US (Last Update: Sun Sep 22 07:30:27 EDT 2024) Current conditions: overcast clouds, Temperature: 62F, Wind: 2mph East (Calm), Humidity: 86%, Pressure: 1016hPa, Sunrise: 06:51, Sunset: 19:01

Good morning. Went out and got a nice haul of fresh eggs. Wife made me 3 eggs over easy with yogurt and fresh rasberries. On the side was v8 and coffee.

Today's a busy one. Gotta do final anchors into the house, take my wife to the grocery store, take my mother to pick up 10 arbor vitae, install 10 arbor vitae. Then hopefully get the solar racking up and maybe toss some panels on.

Popgadget, You had mentioned selling the turbine plane, wondering why? Much cheaper to fly for most shorter trips, right?
That would normally be accurate, but the two turboprops that we have are Cheyenne 400’s. They are a bit of an anomaly in that they are fast and fly as high as 41,000 feet. From Philadelphia to south Florida they are only about 15 minutes behind the jet. But they are not as smooth or quiet, and especially on short trips are more expensive to operate. The runway and climb performance is stunning to say the least. There were only 44 of them made, there is about 20 registered in the US, and they have a bit of a cult following. But the modern, efficient jets make them less desirable from an operational standpoint if you don’t need the runway performance, and can get past the acquisition cost.

Lou I wonder if that would make a good “woods” machine? Set of forks with a grapple for logs, and maybe a Brown Tree cutter? Can’t tell if it has a PTO?
It's only got the rear pto nothing on the front, so no front set snowblower or brush hog or mower.

   / Good morning!!!! #196,985
So the PTO is on the loader side? Would be a great machine if on other end!

good morning all
53 in Greenbrae CA going up to 80 today
but I'll be off later this morning for Santa Cruz, where my campground tonight is the Santa Cruz Marina which has some rv sites attached. So I get to look at boats later today even if they are likely only small sailboats.

at about 4pm my old friend's brother brings over his 98 year old mom who lives in Santa Cruz and who I haven't seen in 40 years. This will be a fun reunion.
Then we will go out to dinner someplace nearby.

I need to pick this rv up more, and no room to hide stuff.
ahhh, but there's room in the shower stall for more, hide boxes of tools in there.
so after sitting here for six days I have to clean it all up.
can't leave before 10am today (6am now) so plenty of time this sunday morning to shower and dump the tanks and then toodle off.

there is a seven foot width restriction for Golden Gate Bridge so need to take Richmond Bridge and 580, which is very close to this campground. so I head South through the eastern side of San Francisco on 880, getting gas in Milpitas on the way South.

temps are going to warm up again. Hope you folks in Texas calm that heat down before I get there.

I find modern sat info invaluable, nice being able to visualize what I'm looking for

I now have much less faith in my specialized Garmin rv nav. First it took me down that WV dirt road that broke my entry step, and today it wants to send me over golden gate bridge. I'm 8.5 wide and that's a no go. I think if I still had my Mercedes Sprinter rv that would be ok. I wonder how many of the rentals in this campground go over the wrong bridge.

66 high in low 80s rain missed us yesterday more upcoming this week.

Happy belated birthday to Mrs Kyle

Grass still on tap to mow deep dark green leaves showing a little color but lots of browns. Acorn crop weak deer will not be happy.

Safe travels Drew haven’t been to California since I was 10 or so.

Prayers for all silent or spoken our Country

Makes sense. Thanks for the info.

We are getting ready for church. Daughter with autism woke up in bad mood at 4 am. Wifey did not go back to sleep.

Ron, glad to hear of son's visit.

RNG, glad you didn't have a wreck. Sounds like 2 close calls. Brakes are important. I guess all the aviation activity gets old. Maybe it might be like living near a rail road track, where locals don't hardly notice the trains after a while.

Hope all have a blessed day. Prayers for our team.

Scott, hope you have good weather today, don't overcook the tube steaks
72 today in Santa Cruz and temps drop fast after sun goes down, that seems to be normal, so looks like pants today. But will wait to put them on til after I dump the tanks this morning. Trying to stay clean...

have to pump tanks tomorrow also because that indignity I would not foist on RNG.
I can easily go several days without pumping anything, but I've now found that one shower and three days of doing dishes will fill up my little tank.
I have to bend way under the rv to pull valves open and shut that often stick, and then I have to clean out the hose itself. I use lots of fresh water at the end and one way or the other manage to get myself wet with that. So pants go on later...jeans now.

two days ago here an old guy retired AF living FT and looking semi homeless in his old travel trailer, he's setting up to leave while I was outside reading my Kindle.
He removed his septic hose, did not wash it out and just stuffed it back into a compartment. A wave of gross smell worked its way over to me and I quietly went inside til he left. Yuk. Keep it clean and it won't smell.
Kinda like us...;)

Morning all, 56 going to 78 and cloudy.
Did more watering, drove around and ended up walking dog at her favorite place.

Today will go to the town art show.

Talked to Uncle, he is depressed a bit, will get a brace and some PT and hopefully won't take to long.

Did do some pick up sticks and removed some leaves. It's going to be a long season of leaves with the trees dropping early, and I am sure some will drop on normal schedule. Need to start putting pool furniture away to prep for closing.

Drew - so glad you got to have family time. Less of a trip than a journey. Looks like your path to Santa Cruz takes you around all the wonderful traffic spots like Redwood City. Going on the roller coaster ?

Happy birthday to Mrs Kyle!

Be well,

Adding a few loads to my stick collection. Finding them in the leaves is always fun, either find them with my pick claw, or find them with my mower....
Lots to chip for the trail entrance and mulch.
One of these days need to buy a rake for the tractor.

Glad you got the small plane going again. I didn't know if the aerial pics were from the small plane or a drone.

OFH is coming along beautifully. Are you the contractor? It seems things are just happening perfectly in sequence with not too many snags.
Many of the newer wall ovens have a convection fan and element at the far back wall of the oven. How much heat do they exhaust into the room? ……All this to say I wish I had a powered exhaust vent also over the space around the wall oven..

The pictures were from the plane.
I have a GE Profile convection electric range in the house, it puts out minimal if any heat into the room, we use the convection bake all the time, as well as the air fry feature.
The OFM has essentially the same range, but in gas. I hope it doesn’t heat the room either. Interesting that it pairs wirelessly with the Profile microwave/vent hood to run the fan when any of the burners are on.

good morning, 66 going to 73, rained overnight more rain in the forecast the next few days

Shooting going on last night at 11:00 PM. Latest for about 20 minutes

Kyle, shoulder is OK. Ortho doctor checking out the rotator cuff injury said to avoid hammering and strain on the shoulder or risk a complete tear so modifying what I do to minimize the risk.
Hardest part is to hammer with the left hand hitting accurately and hard.
The wheels on the tractor came with tubes installed and valve stems for fluid filling although I never filled the front tires. The tire irons came from a military surplus sale as part of a set loaded in a foot locker to repair tires in the field for German military Unimogs

Today I will take the wheel off again and load into the van and get a new tube installed Monday at the large tire repair facility that I normally use

D was telling us about an interesting story about a stolen picture of Winston Churchill that her friend tracked down and recovered.

Good Morning,
63° with a high of 75 for today. Partly sunny and still no rain.

Yesterday, I sent some time in the morning in the Old folks home sweeping and moving left over materials out.

I took off at lunch time and met a buddy at the airport, we took the little plane to NJ for lunch. On the way back we flew over his place and some of his friends and he took pictures.

Of course, the last stop was over my place.

IMG_0816.jpg

When I got home, I put up the ceiling fan in the bedroom, and moved some stuff like extra shelves for the kitchen cabinets into the attic. I’m only storing things up there that are specifically “parts” for the old folks home, like left over hardwood flooring, ceramic tiles, etc.

Another slow day planned for today, just gonna putter about and take my time. I do have a world class mess to straighten out in the shop, and I want to build a a box out of Baltic Birch to cover the vent duct through the cabinet.

The immediate task is to get Zoe to go outside and play for a bit.

   / Good morning!!!! #196,996
How much does Zoe weigh now?

Pictures taken from airplane always great

Have another ceiling fan to put up on porch last one got quite a shock now gun shy.

Lots of sticks Ken gets old doesn’t it

   / Good morning!!!! #196,997
Frits, you are certainly a braver man than I hammering with your left hand.
do you have a power tool alternative?
we all heal more slowly as we get older, not a lot of bouncing back as before
walk it off means hope you feel better in a few days...

rental rvs leaving all around me. Some speaking German. All went out of their way to say good morning.

Good morning! Low of 42°, high of 67° expected. The forecasted rain is a bust.... maybe some "patchy drizzle".... We need rain bad.

Been dealing with a new onset of drama about the BIL. He was found in his car disoriented and confused. Now in the hospital, complete electrolyte imbalance. Hopefully it gets corrected and calm ensues.....

Finally unloaded the pellets into their 'spot' in the garage. I was surprised when I unwrapped the pallet.... Lignetics pellets! HD only listed them as "premium pellets", no name.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! To Mrs. Kyle.

Drew, I turned down the T-stat for cooler temps during your stop here.

Finished up with the reconfiguration of the drip where the original batch of mums were planted, but still have 8 more mums to plant and redo that drip zone. Wifey is ready to go out....

Everyone have a peaceful Sunday!

   / Good morning!!!! #196,999
68°F and .24inch’s rain.

It’s Sunday. Energy conservation? Likely watch some football.

Helped celebrate 93 yo friends birthday last night. Terrific lady.

Did a test run of my hydroponics overnight. If no problems, mix up some nutrient solution and go live.

Drew, that has to be frustrating. Hope for a good outcome.

Paul, the old folks house is looking awesome.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
