Ran errands yesterday...including a stop at vet. Della finally hit 50 lbs, so I bought the next size up of heartworm medicine...was waiting as close as I could to the "due date" to see which size to buy. I'll order a 6 month supply now that she has grown into it. Took her for a hike and swim on the way.

Good morning, the low is 59 and going to a high of 82°F. Wind ENE 2 mph. Sunny!

Today I will move the BB onto the platform for the BH. The blade is in the way of putting the firewood conveyor into the basement window. (I knew that when I put it there). My bad, but I didn't have the platform built yet.

I have a minuscule amount of dirt to move and smooth out the cats' grave. Also have the big pine tree stump to cut down to below ground level and cover with dirt. I will do that today and IF I can find the 10W30 diesel oil that I have somewhere then I will change the oil in the tractor. IF I can't find it then the tractor will go begging until I get to Canadian Tire at the end of the month. I think I have an oil filter here for it. I'll check for that today as well. I was going to go for a bigger diameter stack on the Kioti this year, but the stroke put that on the back burner. I need to be working in order to do that.

Time to get on with my day.

Have a safe day all

61 outside this AM, heading to lower 80's.

Road trip again this AM. Sigh....

Last nights animal feed had a dinner bell for Mother Nature. I had been noticing a drop in the deer and turkey numbers since spring. Well they all showed up. 14 deer and ten turkeys. That's a record number of deer for one observation. Turkey population seems down from the mid 40's.

Is super dry here, again. Need to spend some time on the yards and outside. A little out of control. Just a little. LOL.

Hope all have a great day, weekend. Be safe.

good morning, 59 going to 83 sunny

Had foot issue taken care of at the pediatrist appointment as well as nail trimming

The deer with extended families are showing up for chestnuts falling from several trees close to the house. They are so fixated on picking them up that they don't move unless I am within few feet. Even Cody does not scare them much. Then they move out a 100 ft and wait to come back.

Picked up the extra keys made from the lock set taken off a door. Will check today to see how many locks it will fit.

Drew
So at the store today

Notice, Hawaii grown Dole
Royal Hawaiian
they really are
thanks David, I can taste them from here.

and here is Eastern Nevada and I'm going to spend four hours driving West on 80 to the very edge of the state. Should be another flat and then giant hill day, more 8% grades to keep my brakes warm. I have seen very few hot rod semis so far. Yes some pushing five over and get out of my way right now, but I see more limited closer to 65. Which of course puts them where I want to be. So often I have to set cruise at 67 to just get around them.

If I had adaptive cruise, and being in no rush, I'd get behind a reasonably powerful truck and just let the electronics have me follow the truck about 7 car lengths back. You just have to be willing to slow down on hills, and join the line of elephants lumbering up the steep incline with engines roaring. One poor guy was only doing 15mph at the top of one peak, that poor guy needed more motor or less weight.
I try to stay above 50 at the very top and use enough throttle to get there
and then my V10 is howling its thirsty song, gimme more, gimme more of that five buck gas...
and if the truck in front is going too slow I am surely getting around him on a four lane.

this is of course why one has a diesel with more torque. Instead, I have to work at it a little more.

up way too early this morning. Major highways often have major railroads running along them, and it's been that way many nights, listening to the rumble of trains. However, in Elko, there must be a major traffic crossing because that engine lays on the horn, on and off, on on and off
when I heard that lying in bed, I was awake.

enjoying my coffee. Have a job this morning I must get to, opening up intake grill for propane furnace that lives under refrigerator. When I fired up the furnace to test it yesterday, it kicked off and ran fine, but oh geez what is that smell? It smelled way similar to unhappy dead mouse, or its abode. I promptly shut down the heater in case there was tinder in there...

so....going in to see what I can see. If it's clear in there, that means critter has chewed through heater ducts. And traveling my ducts like a highway to chowing down on my toilet paper and paper towels. And my silicone kitchen scraper.
what a terrible diet
but none survive my mouse trap.

just wonder if there is the animal equivalent of come on in somewhere on bottom of rv.

Kyle, hope your son woke up fine.
almost feel like I jinxed someone bringing the topic up awhile back...

Mostly, thanks for advice. I'll be seeing you down the road.

Good Morning,
Vt, 54 to start going to 80 or so ! Clear and sunny skies once again. No rain forecast until at least mid week next week

Drew, with those prices for gas, I’m thinking you have to have a big gas account! 😉 Especially at 10 mpg !

Don, interesting idea on the tea ! Any medicinal benefits ? Curious how it comes out !

Bill, glad you got platform built, and yes it’s time to be thinking about fire wood !
Yesterday I went to a local TSC to buy a new box of the Rutland fire starter blocks, I was getting low !

Not sure about plans today, but we are going out to a restaurant for dinner tonite ! Probably a long walk this morning and then play it by ear !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

Good Morning
It’s 55°, sunny and dry, the high is forecast to be just about 80.
All the tile work except the kitchen backsplash is finished in the old folks home, almost all of the trim is in place, as is most of the pin rail for the closet shelves. The shelves themselves will get ripped out of MDF and installed Monday. The kitchen cabinets are coming Monday as well.
The masons have about 6 feet of wall to finish pointing, then they will move inside to set the hearth and stone face the fireplace.
I spent hours yesterday proving what an idiot I am. After the shower tile was done, and I installed the cartridge in the valve, I went to test it and no water came out of the shower head or hand shower. It has integrated shut off valves, so my first guess was that I forgot to open them, so I removed the trim, and nope, they were on. Next I figured that I must have assembled the valve wrong, so I took it all apart and it was correct, next I figured that maybe I plumbed it wrong, so I blew air through all the passages and proved them to correct.
So why doesn’t it work? I studied the instructions, checked the assembly again, still finding nothing wrong.
However, this time when I put the handle on the valve I discovered that it not only rotates, it tilts. Guess which movement makes the water flow?
Yup, spent all that time to figure out I don’t know how to work a faucet!
The good news is that it works and I even had hot water.

Today I desperately need to make a Costco run, and put the rest of the interior in the little plane, hopefully fly it to lunch when I’m done.

Della finally hit 50 lbs
Wow Della is getting BIG! As they grow up it is sad to lose a puppy but nice they start learning commands and behavior.

45F going to 85F here in California. Today I am going to split some firewood for this winter's supply.

Everyone have a great day !!!

Scott, I get my starter blocks from the Dollar store, but I also have wax blocks I make myself with egg cartons. We will both be going into the dollar store at the end of the month and cleaning them out of fire starter. A package of 15 for $1.25 is easy to take.

and here is Eastern Nevada and I'm going to spend four hours driving West on 80 to the very edge of the state.
Drew, a couple of things of interest on your journey West.

As you get around the Fallon / Fernley areas, you'll probably find the semis doing at least 75mph, often 80.

When you see the "Mustang" exit from I-80, that is the exit to the "world famous" Mustang Ranch brothel. Lots of history there, ahem. Joe Conforte, founder of Mustang Ranch, originally 3 purchased tracts of land-- right where the County boundaries came together. He put trailers on there and operated a brothel, at least until the County Sheriff got to the point of trying to shut him down. If it got to that, he simply moved the trailers across the boundary and into the other County. Problem solved. County Sheriff couldn't do anything since he was no longer in that County. Plus the Sheriff's problem was "solved."

Many years later he was eventually prosecuted for tax evasion and the Federal Government seized Mustang Ranch but kept it operating. So the Feds were serving liquor and operating a brothel. Somehow they ran it into the ground and it was losing money by the time they sold it off.

Also, in this same area, South of I-80, is the largest industrial center in the world. The Tahoe/Reno Industrial Park. Much of it cannot be seen from I-80, but it is massive. Tesla has a gigafactory there. Amazon, Google and all the other big hitters have set up large operations there. It is fueling a lot of growth in Northern Nevada.

Finally, make sure all the nuts on the RV are tight. Much of I-80 over Donner Summit was recently resurfaced. For some reason, all they did this time is saw cut strips of concrete where the tires make contact with the freeway. Then pour long "strips" of concrete going miles and miles and miles. Except the strips don't match up too well with the original concrete so there is some jostling around as you drive.

   / Good morning!!!! #196,614
Scott, 8200 miles at 10 mpg @3.50 gallon, all figured out ahead.
This is my version of taking a cruise...

Suburban propane furnace clean as could be, despite all the original construction dust and bits, which I vacuumed up. Cleaned the outside filter and put it back together. There's only an exhaust outside I think and I have screens over them. Going to fire up the furnace again and see how stinky it is. I took flashlight and peered inside the cabinets and it all looked ok.

Drew, I'm griping because our small town's gas stations have kept regular at $2.99/gal, where as 25 minutes away it is going as low as $2.47/gal.
This tells me the stations are collaborating to keep prices high. They used to compete and prices were competitive.

Last night's football game was lost in the first quarter with 4 fumbles that the opponent capitalized and scored afterwards....

Scotty, I was hoping the mill's clutch would be an easy to get to and adjust thing. If I have to remove the table, this project will get done by hand feeding the axis for now and work on the table later.

TxDon, is that screw in your shoulder metric or standard? Glad it is working out. Don't over do it.

It is getting dry around here and the fields will turn brown if they don't get a splash of rain soon. It has been a rare summer to have green fields until now.

I hope all have a blessed day.

thanks Plowhog.
looks like I'm driving through the Great Basin today
and I watch my side mirror for traffic from the rear and it's always two hands on the wheel when the semis go past, particularly if I can tell their overtaking speed is fast. They push a big wall of air.

I did the annual chimney sweep yesterday, for the wood stove. I got a bit dirty, but it was needed. I do it every Sept. Firewood has been split and stacked since July.

Kyle, I'm looking forward to less expensive gasoline, my best so far is 2.80
I only do name brands, though out here there are some different chains; I figure most truck stop gas is fresh. I usually need to take the right end pump with the fillup back by the rear axle.

happy to report heater/furnace seems to be ok, raised the temp but not as fast as my electric heater, likely because it has outlets all over. Little bit of smell, but much better, and thankfully a hint of the citrus cleaner I used liberally on the intake cover.

I need to save propane for fridge while driving and hot water heater. Until I get the transfer switch replaced I'm not running the electric hot water heater. that's what pushed me over the resistance edge last time.
Normally I would always use campground electric if I could.

this campground filled up and appears full, took a short walk, cool morning but should be a nice day to drive. Not in a big rush, at least I'm already in the Pacific time zone.

now what exit is the Mustang Ranch?
something I've never done.
pretty disease phobic so very unlikely...

Morning all, 70 going to 85 and the sun is up.

Today is our anniversary, snuck out earlier and got some flowers/plants.

Yesterday just did pool and yard maintenance.

Watched what will be the last Grand Tour on Prime. They were in Zimbabwe , which was one of my favorite trips, even if a hippo did attack us while canoeing the Zambezi.

Today might take a last dip in the pool. Will probably close it soon as it is filling with leaves.

Drew - if you want fancy high priced market in California try reEwhon market , Like Whole foods on steroids. I had a few of their pre-made sandwiches and they were really good.

Be well,
