the good news is I'm safe and sound in campground in Morgantown WV.
bad news is electrical problems persist, tech called, said he would be here at dinner time or tomorrow morning. I told him extra tip if he showed up today.

but I got lost on the way here, took the rv gps way and it was a terrible mistake. It took me over a mountain and down a dirt road where I finally had to turn around. There were two guys ahead of me pulling atvs and one old guy very nicely got out and walked back to me and said you don't want to go this way, the road is mud.
In backing rv around in the woods, I got high centered on one side with a
nasty crashing sound. Sigh. My hydraulic steps are now squashed up against the body of the rv, destroyed, but at least not in the way, and I have a step stool I use so no big deal. That will be a nice repair when I get home.

then I got back on highway, missed the exit, went ten miles too far, turned around and finally got here. From now on, I'm taking my own instructions in the mountains, not the nav route. I want to stay on major roads, not go offroading on dirt roads.

not much relaxing since 1am last night...

saw a sign on the way for Eastern Continental Divide, about 2200 feet up.
something tells me the western version is a lot higher.

92 and hot out, but at least cloudy and I have shade of a tree today, makes a huge difference. 73 in rv, very comfortable
shower building was not far away so I thought a good hot soak would help my neck and headache after a challenging day. Pretty rustic setup but it worked and I feel better.

very happy no one is near me, noise of my gen a real irritant to folks who camp in the woods. I'll ask if they want to move me.

two very exposed parts, the stairs on one side and the septic system on the other. I believe not wrecking the latter is a serious plus...though the pipe parts are pretty cheap. Those electric stairs aren't. Just a lump on the head and keep on trucking.

it was a Garmin RV gps, latest model and it's supposed to alert for dirt roads and avoid them. Nope...
so now each morning before I leave I write my nav cheat sheet, road numbers and turns and when in doubt, stay on main roads.
byways are one thing, wood roads in mountains are another.

all i can picture is Diable Pass in the movie RV.... I don't see a dirt road between exit 15 and the campground, google says take a right from exit, then immediate right on old 73, then left on chestnut ridge rd, which is a paved road.
I keep having Waze try to steer me wrong, it likes to take back roads and alleys instead of staying on the main route.

How about the broker hauling a Bison Transport trailer that Bison kept routing him down a road that had a 13' bridge and him with a 13'6" trailer and they would not pay the mileage for him to go around that bridge (about 50 miles). So after barking at them for 3 months he followed their directions to a 'T'. Peeled the top 6" off the trailer. Don't know what charges he got out of it but Bison wanted him to pay for the trailer. He doesn't haul for them any more.

Yes, I have mine set to "Don't allow unpaved roads". I also Avoid Tolls. You can Avoid Freeways, Avoid Ferries.
When I was returning from mowing in VA once, was avoiding backups, and I was on some pretty narrow alleys, but they were paved.

I use GPS all the time, not because I don't know where i'm going usually, but because it shows backups and where the cops are.

Even if Drew got off the exit before at Bruceton Mills, it should have taken him all paved roads. the only unpaved road I see on the map in that area is Quarry Road, and it's a forest service road that is blocked off by a gate according to google maps.

The guy that delivered my E-trike from Sudbury, ON, it should have taken him 2 hours and 20 minutes to get here via North Bay, ON. Took him almost 3.5 hours. Google got him lost. IF they would have let me give them the directions he would have been here in 2 hours. There is a paved shortcut that only locals use. (522)

Don't you think that it is time to discourage bears from hanging out around your place?

Had good wild berry season,apple beechnuts acorns trees produce heavy crop and starting to fall,bears deer keep the area pretty much clean up,walking on sight downward slope stepping acorns when grass damp like step stepping on marbles when mower deck spends acorn bouncing off Mrs. car when trimming around oaks trimmer whip sends acorn into your leg etc. I kinda like the bears and deer hanging around.

Thick indeed, slow work, takes 2 passes just to get what you see.
The Guinea grass grows in clumps. Appears I got high centered on one that was significant higher for some reason. Neighbor suggests maybe the farmer had a debris pile there.
