apparently it's now official our two astronauts are marooned on the space station.
Marooned is not good.
News says six months more, likely when SpaceX can send a rescue rocket up.
what a fail for Boeing. I bet it will come out that they barely made it there without blowing up
and no one has faith in the rocket to get them home safely. Their plans were for ten days...
Thank goodness for SpaceX.

though all those internet satellites they put up there sure aren't working right this morning.

Boeing has a new CEO. Good luck.
We need them to succeed and remain a world standard.
Otherwise Airbus and Xingping airlines will own the world.

tornado watch just raised.
1-2 inches coming in as expected.
hope to be home before that starts.
time to get moving

good morning, 74 going to 83 and raining with tornado watch as well until 2 PM

checked on the neighbors pond and good news is it is not overflowing. Had at least 3 inches overnight but gradual rain fall I guess to where it did not overflow

A large tree branch came down as I was walking Cody with a big crash from a tall pine tree. Thankfully we were not under it.

Good Morning
77°, 92% RH this morning. Rain and thunderstorms likely.

Yesterday, I took care of a few details, but mostly cleaned up in the old folks home. The Urethane foam contractor was putting cardboard baffles in place and covering things up getting ready to spray. I’m guessing he has at least another day of prep.

Went out with wife and finalized decisions on flooring, both hardwood and ceramic, as well as the tile for the shower and quartz for the countertops and island.

This morning I have to head down to Philly to meet with a prospective buyer for one of the turboprops. Should be interesting, I’m curious how it will go.

I wonder if Frits is down checking out his driveway soon.
This is coming right over him
Yes I am checking on it during every rain fall. The mods the neighbor did helps up to a point but will overflow during high and sustained rain falls. The creek that flows through the pond originates up the mountain at the AT trail. The ground up there is very dry and suspect it sucks up a lot of water that limits the flow through the pond. It is amazing how much water trees can absorb

/ Good morning!!!! #194,747
The ground here locally soaked up a lot of the rain due to drought and the rain started off slowly. Last night was hard rain for several hours almost three inches of the 4 plus we got. Pond is not muddy just full. We are still down over an of rain for the year

Good Morning,
Ct, 66 to start going to 80 if the sun pops out, but I doubt it, we are pretty docked in a giant cloud !

Dennis, thanks , I didn’t even think of checking your equipment list ! Nice looking machine when new ! My C-125 looks more heavy duty than your machine but they had quite a good product back in the day !

Looks like we could possibly have tornadoes here tonight, at least a watch for them ! So first on the agenda is to remove pool umbrellas etc !

Drew, I’m really impressed with all your planning for this trip, and wow that’s a lot of fuel ! You definitely are paying attention to detail! 🙏

Better get moving , got some things that need to be done before the winds pick up around noon !

Hope all have a great day ! 🙏

A little something to keep those cool that are dealing with 90-100°F heat.
That was a good video clip, it sure showed how much the snow "game" has changed over the years with the increased horsepower and speed available today.

another 1.42" of rain since midnight. Was at 1.4 when I went to bed last night, not sure how much more before midnight. 3.85" for the week.
Radar showing the bulk of the rain now in central PA, but there is a long tail of heavy rain still below us, just to the east. Son has to drive thru it to get to work. Most of the rain went to our west, as predicted.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 5:00AM. Areas of fog early, becoming sunny this afternoon. High 74F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Here in California, Drew, gas can be as much as a dollar a gallon cheaper on the reservations.

I've been having connection problems with Xfinity out here, too, Ron. Sorta like the connection interruptions with Starlink at the other house. Just stops working for a few minutes, then starts up again like nothing happened.
though all those internet satellites they put up there sure aren't working right this morning.
FWIW, the data stream from the personal weather station up at the other house has been uninterrupted since July 31 when I was monkeying around with the laptop that does the monitoring and relaying. But that place is a long way away from Debbie.

Looking at that weather data, it's been at or above 100F every day since August 4th up there. The ten day says it'll drop back into the low 90s by Tuesday next week.

Spent another day yesterday chasing doctors, and ended up with a dentist appointment today for a cleaning. Got a couple old amalgam fillings that need replacing, so not looking forward to the visit. Found an allergist, too, but they won't make an appointment until they receive a referral from my PCP, and the PCP can't get to me until October 11th. Got in to see a nurse practitioner at another clinic at the end of this month, but their Yelp! reviews are full of people complaining of rude doctors and administrative screw ups. Still need to chase down an ophthalmologist, but that'll have to wait until next week because it looks like doctors don't work on Fridays anymore.

Other than the dentist, not sure what I'll get into today. Lots of possibilities, though.

TGIF gang!

Good Morning! 73 heading to the upper 90s, hopefully with the predicted clouds we will stay out of the 100s today. There is even a 35% chance of welcomed rain at 8pm.
Will work on wife’s to do list today.

With little snow in central Texas our cold pics just consist of heavy frost and people with coats on.

212H and listed in my signature, not one of the older ones that were more like mini tractors. This one came out about a year or 2 before toro bought them out.View attachment 884327View attachment 884328

I bought my parents a wheel horse 416-8 in 1987 or so to replace their aging JD 70 rider. Dad mowed with it until 2018 or so, then acquired a JD STX38 to use since it was easier to get on and off of for him at his age.

Wheel Horse was a very well built machine.

That is why you get the snow pics we post. I will make sure to make you real cold this winter when I get Junior to take a pic of me in my 'normal' snow plowing garb. ;)

Back in CA now. Friends are here, staying in their RV. Security cams showed that at 5:15am a large cougar walked right up to their RV then went under it. That was about 30 mins before they got up and stepped out. Not to mention they have a small dog-- ahhhhh.

Rigby did better in training yesterday, but still afraid of other dogs. We set up a puppy play date (outside of class) with another pup. On Sunday we will also bring him to another class, just to watch the other dogs in training, and he can sit outside the arena and observe. I am hopeful he will have enough confidence built so that next week he can feel more normal and less afraid around other dogs.

66F headed to a tolerable 92F. Pretty smoky this morning due to wind shift from nearby forest fires.

Everyone have a great day!!!

Good morning. Just got back from driving around and checking on roads and neighbors. 8 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. Most of that fell last night. Roads are a bit chewed up but passable. Pond looks rough. Lots of debris got washed down the mountain. I’m gonna need a nap today. Rain kept me up. Ayi my Akbash dog was bleary eyed this morning when I went to the barn to get her for breakfast. Hopper the 3.5 month puppy is 47 lbs this morning. Goats are all still alive, apple harvest is a loss due to disease and deer. Family is healthy.

The recent cleaning of the Mitsubishi wall unit bill came in at about 400 dollars. Seems that the concurrent operation with running the wood stove contributed to the problem. Replacing the old Jotul with a larger and airtight modern stove with higher output. Scheduled for installation in September.

Attaching a portion of the bill FYI

Tear down allowed access to blower motor to properly test. Motor passes ohms test. Called and confirmed ohms readings with tech support. Existing motor is not damaged motor was not able to produce proper RPM because of the amount of dirt collected on blower wheel.
Reassembled console and brought system back online, monitoring operations
System is functioning properly at this time.
** we brought a new motor with us a preventative measure. Will return part to office to be returned for credit.
(1) “tear down” cleaning coil , drain, pan , and wheel Time @2.5 hrs

We are on the backside of the storm now, with winds mostly from the west. Flag disagrees at times. Little rain just started, but radar shows it should clear out soon.

2 hummingbirds chasing almost ran into me.
Snagglepuss laying on my lap

Good morning! Low of 57°, forecasted high of 83°. If the clouds maintain, I might believe that high....
Back up to a 60% chance of more storms today.

WE GOT RAIN! Yes, unbelievable as it sounds, a storm stalled right over us and dumped 1 1/2" over 2 hours. A bit fast, but the ground absorbed most of it. Another 1/2" over a few hours brought the total to 2".

No where near what you guys are getting! Some of those amounts are just nuts!

Not much on the agenda today aside from preparing to leave tomorrow morning for the trip to Colorado. Need to think about what tools I'll need to take with. No repairs, just diagnostic....

Everyone stay safe, high and dry!

Morning all, 79 going to 82, another 1"+ of rain last night-Tornado watch till 2pm
Did some more cleanup around the property after the last few storms hit. Lost power multiple times, seems stable this morning. But we also lost the Cell tower connection at some point for a while.
Yard is a mess of leaves and branches.

We've never been to Ireland, even though my wife is half Irish, and we have both worked and spent a lot of time in England. So we really love the comments as we will do this trip eventually.

Good luck with the sale PopGadget, must be pretty complex, does FAA get involved?

Off to Lake Tahoe, we rented a 20' open bow and went puttering around the lake. It was windy with decent size swells so it was work keeping the boat pointed straight and we could not just hang out for very long before the wind started moving us around.

After that to Emeryville near Oakland for a visit to Trader Vics restaurant. Wifes family used to do a yearly jaunt to the one in NYC when she was a little girl, not too many of them left in the US, the one in LA we went to last time closed, the one in NYC closed many years ago:

Then off to Santa Cruz for the evening and onto the amusement boardwalk to my son could ride another famous roller coaster, open for 100 years and still running.

Then off to Big Sur, Monterrey and our favorite, Carmel. Last time I was here was for the Pebble Beach Concours and Monterrey Historics Race. This time just wandering around.
