Good morning!!!!

Good morning! 71˚F heading to only the mid 80s with clouds. Yesterday we had a good short shower and this is the first time my two rain gauges have not been very close. The plastic rain gauge said .11" and the tempest said .88" I think total rainfall was somewhere in-between.

Mostly and Buckeye no heat so no S'mores, this is July in Texas the chocolate melts by just being outside I'll have to check to see if the marshmallows toast in direct sunlight.

The tree I dug up and the cut oak limbs over the roof were taken to the biochar disposal site. They usually charge $15 a pic-up load but when he saw the size of my bed he only charged me $10.

Now let's see what I can take care of today.

Drew look for Water Processed decaf coffee. It is coffee that has been naturally decaffeinated with water rather than solvents to gently remove caffeine from raw green coffee beans while maintaining the beans’ distinctive flavor profile.

Don, I believe we might could have green pastures around here for the rest of the summer, but August and September can be brutal too.
Can you run a gas powered chainsaw there, or only quiet electric? Your new home seems really special, it looks like hospice likes it too.

I just cooked up some breakfast tacos, but only my son and I had one. Water process decaf for me usually. Coffee this am was good.

RNG, good luck with the insurance. Chico fire is huge, prayers they can get it under control. Glad I don't live in a huge pine forest with pine needles covering the ground.

Old android phone battery about to kick the bucket....Have a newer version phone already, just need to migrate over. Wifey will help with this. She's a pro at it.

Trying to find Lincore 55-G or 60-G mig wire online at Home Depot. (I have a gift card), but they don't seem to offer any hardfacing mig wire there.

Prayers for our team.

Kyle

Been a busy couple of days. Got transferred to a new line at work. Need to build 100 Allison 1000series transmissions. Basically the same tranny in the older chevies with the duramax. Another old guy and I was tasked with it. So, job security is there.

This morning after breakfast with my dad I had to replace a sticky caliper on my car and just did a complete pad and rotor replacement, and since it was in the air I changed the oil.

Gonna be mid 80's today and not a cloud in the sky so our daughter went to a lake with one of her friends family for her first time water skiing. That should be interesting

67°F and .15 inches rain.

As part of my project need to reconfigure a water line drop from a single to 2 spigots. Need to paw through my inventory but fully suspect I don’t have all the parts so a stop at HD later, before meeting friends in town.

Glad you had a safe trip, Drew.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

some days you swing just fine at the ball and plain miss.

after I had delivered tomatoes and other stuff to Ken's front door, he didn't answer doorbell but I saw
his car, so figured he was on business call. And when I get home he has emailed me saying he is in California for a week and no
one is home.
groan.
back I go to retrieve the tomatoes

thanks David. nice to be home playing with my tomatoes even if I am leaving them off at homes
with no one there....

BEF, replacing that is a simple common repair, if you don't want to splurge yet for new. You could supplement cooling with a mini split in your most common room to support the geo unit. I'm drooling over a new heat pump like Popgadget got. It would save me a lot off my heating bill which is electric.
I had a guy out yesterday to look at it. His company is going to give me a price to repair. That will determine the next course of action. Unit has to be evacuated, new TXV brazed on, including the tiny freon tube, then recharged. Then hope the compressor wasn't also damaged.
I have not been able to find many high efficiency units like the one popgadget is getting.
Anyone know about Champion brand? they seem to be the old York company. Like most brands, they have units to cover different price points.

I know, just pulling your leg..... Last time camping, I showed my wife you can melt marshmallows using the gas stove in the camper, no need to start a fire in 100 degree weather just to have a s'more.

82F and sunny @ 13:15, calling for a high of 85F for the day.

Headed out to do some spraying yesterday and shortly after I started the wind picked up ... 🤬

Looks to be about dead calm out there now so will probably get back to it here shortly.

Decided the lawn could wait another day.

Did check trail on east property line to see if it could be mowed down ... way too dusty ... so no ... (n)

I had some tomato plant trimmings that I had placed in water awhile back to root and they did:

IMG_3363 copy.jpg

So I got those potted up. Probably around 8 of them so far, still a couple more to do.

Since the Water Buffalo was full, I opted to do some watering.

Got trees up along the road all watered, plus the butterfly weed and swamp milkweed in front of the shop.

Also watered the little peach tree on the west side and the lilac bush, a pair of rhododendrons, some day lilies and hosta in the northeast planting bed. Emptied Water Buffalo.

Ran down to the corner and picked up 4 gallons of gas for the Cub and refueled it when I got back.

After that I headed up and worked on screening more compost.

Moved the screen and cleaned up the area around it after I got back.

Agenda for today:

Refill hopper feeder, scatter some seed for the ground feeders.

Do some glyphosate spraying in a few spots.

Get Water Buffalo refilled, possibly more watering in shady areas.

High tomorrow supposed to be around 90F so will probably start on the lawn later this afternoon and get that knocked out.

Otherwise see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)

Good breakfast with the crew. My wife didn't go today.
had low tire when i left with the mazda, so turned back and added air. first time for low tire on the new vehicle, all were down in the 20's, lowest at 22 #.
Got Ecoflow charging with the solar panel on the back deck. Need to check on it.
not much else getting done, waiting till monday or tuesday to mow.

gorgeous cup Phil, that's a pretty big "shot". What are you drinking?
as that was getting skinnier and skinnier I can see you mumbling don't break please don't break

going to go visit this place in next few weeks, seems like fun on a hot summer day.
hoping to take a few kids with me.
not that far away, I'm close to the main road to Flemington NJ but I prefer the back way in through
Stockton after crossing the metal Center Bridge bridge. Lots of metal bridges.
When you live near the state line and that line is a river, crossing over is always a tiny adventure.

Reminded me of a trip years ago

There is not a lot of them out there. carrier/bryant and Mitsubishi are the ones that I’m familiar with. Carrier is pickier with who they set up as dealers, it’s harder to find a mom and pop installer that has access to them.
Daikin has inverter compressor models with electronically controlled expansion devices and ECM fans. They are a bit easier to get for the small contractor or DIY type.

Interesting on the water rooted tomatoes, RS. I intend to try tomatoes in my hydroponics.

Yeah … I was pretty surprised at how quickly they rooted.

Think that might have been around after 2 weeks in the water.

Had another cut stem that I stuck directly in a pot in potting mix. It looked like it wasn’t going to survive … leaves all shriveled up and turning yellow.

After a couple of weeks it too seems to be coming around.

Imagine they’d do fine in a hydro setup if you fed them and gave them some support.

Good Afternoon
Beautiful day here today, got all the mowing done, except inside the pastures, which didn’t need it.

Slowly putting away all the tools that I had out to plumb the boiler room. I’m not moving as fast as a i could, my friend that was visiting from LA seems to have brought us all C19. Daughter tested positive first, then my wife and finally I did this morning. None of us are particularly sick, but not a lot of collective ambition.
I was supposed to play at a festival this evening and had trips tomorrow and Monday. I got a sub for all of those things rather than be a Typhoid Mary.
We figure that he got it on the flight from LA, it’s a shame he came to the east coast for a wedding today, he is gonna be in a hotel room instead. We told him he might as well come back to the leper colony with us, but he didn’t accept the invite (yet).

The roof is on the old folks home (except around where the chimney goes).

The plumbing is complete, including the frost proof silcock and supplies. Need to do the wiring for the hydronic zone valves and zone controller, the move on to the zone controller and dampers for the forced air system, as well as run all the thermostat wires.

IMG_4891.jpg

Transfer switch for the whole panel and surge protector for the condensing unit are installed as well.

IMG_4888.jpg

Fortunately my symptoms seem to be a mild congestion and lethargy. Hopefully this is as bad as it gets.

On FireWise clearing we cannot use chainsaws, reason given is because it is close to homes and the adjacent homeowners may have put nails in the trees. I use a sawzall and a Diablo 9" pruning blade 3TPI/carbide teeth with is actually lighter and easier to use and I can get closer to the ground without dulling a chain. On trail clearing we can use chainsaws, the trails are being made before the houses are being built. On trail maintenance I prefer the sawzall because it is lighter.
