Good evening all. 70ºF for the start, overcast, light breeze. Light wind some showers heavy at times, High temp was 80ºF, HI 86ºF. Made coffee to start day, putter, bike ride, lost wallet off bike somebody I did not know picked it up and called me and gave me his address and I picked it up. Made trip into town insurance and grocery shopping. No nap. VFD board mtg, then grilled brats. 69th birthday today.

Drew my first wife was sure a winner, and she made sure I worked as hard at making marriage work as she did. The ones that grow are are the one that both partners are not all in.

Poured first cup of coffee. 65° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 81° with rain. .26" of rain over night. Remontants of hurricane Beryl will arrive early evening. Forecast is now over 3". Got shop cleaned up and tools put away yesterday. Today will be a conserve energy day.

Saw a report from Eddie Walker. Over 6" of rain and power outage.

to visit a disabled friend at his new home. He can no longer get out easily so good to visit him.

bet my electric bill will be a doozy with all this a/c use. Don't care, can't live without it.
I would have been a terrible pioneer in the old West.

John Deere appears to be trying to reinvent itself, no longer considers itself a tractor/ag company
but now due to farming AI, they are a tech company first. Really?....
And now they are laying off 600 US workers and sending work to new plant in Mexico.
Demand for farm equipment is down after going bonkers for a while

I'm guessing like Microsoft JD wants to sell tractors with such proprietary software that you have to pay a subscription
fee every year to use it. Except for the largest agribusinesses, have to believe there will be pushback on that.

I wonder if those half a million dollar class 9 JD tractors are going up in price as fast as our cars.
I read in a variety of places that the cost of fertilizer has really jumped and is hurting the small farmers.

I'm spending lots of time in Badlands and Mt Rushmore area. Hopefully I'll get some bison pics there

here it's bad enough if you hit a squirrel or small animal, won't wreck your car like a deer.
I'm beginning to think hitting an armadillo would not be good, like a giant turtle.
I usually get out and carry turtles off the road...except for snapping turtles. Good way to lose a finger.

Good morning, the low temp is 64 and going to a high of 79°F. Wind WSW 2 mph. 40% chance of showers or drizzle.

I just found out yesterday that I cannot even ride my z-turn to town with a suspended license.
Technically, I am not supposed to take it off the property. But I do. It is very seldom that you see a cop out here, so I think I can get away with it.
I guess junior is going for the gas.
Right now I am using the gas that was earmarked for the genny.

I might get busy and do something constructive today, but don't hold your breath.

Around here the Mennonite kids drive huge FENDT tractors and equipment on the roads. Looked into one time getting a newer Unimog with PTO's and 3 point lifts and consider it a farm tractor. No license and no registration required

Cody is all handsome again coming back from the groomer. He has however some pain in his left rear foot and he would not let me come close enough to it to take a look. Calling the vet this morning early to see if they can see him.

Good morning! 69˚F. light N winds heading to the mid 90s. with lots of sun.

Beryl had absolutely no effect here, no high winds and not a drop of water. However in Houston my wife's siblings have lost power and are running generators. During the eye crossover my BIL was preparing a hole in his roof. They commented the winds were incredibly strong.

The ring doorbell issues could not be resolved after 6 calls to support so back it went for a different model. I charged the battery up over night and will try again later to install it. I exchanged it for an older model ring doorbell after Ring support started blaming my phone for not getting notifications and I told them at the old house it worked perfectly with my iPhone.

75° on its way to 95, sunny, no rain.
Yesterday was a hot one to be in the attic. But we still made progress.
Got the gas line to the boiler installed and the water supply lines through the attic. Next step is the gas line through the attic.

Probably no progress today, I’ve got to go out to Pittsburgh (Washington, PA actually) to test fly our other turboprop that has been in the shop for over a year.

I might make it back in time to get something done, but it might just be too hot to find my ambition.

Transit Connect now has a new cam cover gasket that should take care of the oil leak, a new plastic thermostat housing to stop the coolant geyser, and new spark plugs just because.
And I didn’t do any of it.

Got home yesterday afternoon and was able to put the robot in the pool to vacuum everything up ! Also managed to wash all that Vermont dirt of my truck ! Then against my wife’s wishes, I hopped on the old Wheel Horse and got the lawn mowed ! I was kind of beat after that so will résumé catching up on chores today !

Had a pile of bills waiting for me for the 1 1/2 weeks we were away !
They never stop coming !

We are going back up on Thursday again with our friends across the street, younger couple, hope the weather cooperates!

Forecast is 103F today with at least 3 more days at 100+.

Electric cost is .12c per kW in NV. Our bill averages about $300/mo but this month is over $400. Electric cost at our CA property varies from .40c - .60c per kW depending on time of day. I bet the neighbor bills over there are eye popping.
