Update on the neighbors pond issues: The state department of the environment will have jurisdiction going forward. A report is being prepared to lay out that this is a Trout stream subject to regulation and no changes allowed without engineering study and permit changes. Legal action will result if recommendations are not implemented

OOOOh, some one is playing hard ball. I don't blame you. I wouldn't appreciate my driveway getting flooded out every time it rained hard, either.

Good Morning
It’s 67° and might make it to 80 today under a bright sunny sky.
Yesterday was another day that went by at a leisurely pace. Got the front porch formed up and the wire and rebar in place for the pour on Tuesday. All that’s left is to form the sunken area for the curb less shower.

IMG_4578.jpg

After all day of threats and cautions from the weather prognosticators, we got .001” of rain. Did get some serious winds though, I’ve got a bit of trim to repair today.

IMG_4579.jpg

I think it was good that I had all the steel on the foam panels and heat tubing, nothing got disturbed there. Played music with the boys, started putting together sets for a show next month. We had a new keyboard player sit in, he was a good fit, musically and personally.

Today' I have to run out and get some white trim nails to repair the wind blown facia.
Then I have to cut up some 2x2 aluminum angle to make some wall brackets for heat pump condensers for my mechanical contractor buddy. He need to match some that were already in place for a high end job. The existing ones were custom made, and he wants the additional units to match.
Other than that it will be whatever comes my way.

Frits, hope you don't get stuck again.
Zero turns not known for traction in slippery stuff.

Reminds me of time I ran zero turn at church, mowing top of sand mound at rear of property.
Wet dew in morning, mower slid sideways down fairly steep slope into neighbor's wooden fence, broke one rail.
what an embarrassment...I promptly replaced the rail.

so now my next door neighbor has this ginormous new sand mound in his back yard, and he drives a Gravely zturn.
I've already seen him get it stuck on edge of Lake Drew. This should get interesting if he mows after a rain.
my modest JD lawn mower has very little traction, if I get on a
hill and try to back up, often just spins. No diff lock on this model
like I'm used to.

I don't worry about getting stuck. Just fire up the elderly Gravely rider and it will pull a car out with the ag tires on it and 23hp
motor.

if I had more lawn, I'd get the commercial Cub Cadet with the steering wheel.
only negative of having a z turn as your only mower is that they aren't good at pulling
I want a treadle, a steering wheel and power steering like I have now (Ron: Kubota B?...)
thankfully my JD mower does this place perfectly, designed for one acre and that's what it gets.
I had the top of the line 5 series diesel JD lawn tractor in NC and what a lovely machine that was.
basically what I have now on steroids. Was silly for this place, 23hp Kawasaki and a 50" inch deck
works well here.

Good Morning,
Ct, 59 to start going to 76 or so ! Beautiful sunny and blue skies this morning! Heat looks to be coming in by Tuesday! Glad the pool is looking good, will be nice when those 90’s arrive!

Kyle, nothing like a real weather vane ! 😁

Frits, glad to hear your finally getting some resolution on your flooding issues !

Drew, I know you mentioned that you were getting an Andersen 200 series door awhile ago. I just thought I would mention that when I put the addition on our Vermont house I used Andersen 200 series sliding windows around the entire room ! They are 5’by 5’ ! We did this about 9 years ago, and are very happy with these windows!

Hope all have a great day ! 🙏

Good morning! Tempest weather station is reporting 75˚F heading to the 90s, clear skies. I still have not found my weather station box, (because I did not label it "weather station") I don't know where Tempest is getting the information from but it seems to be accurate.

Sitting on the backyard veranda having coffee watching Hospice (our 20 year old inherited cat) meander around.

Good news from the electrician yesterday, he found the plug in the garage can be easily converted into a 50 amp electric vehicle charging station plug because there is a neutral wire that was run with "the 2nd dryer/welding plug". I'm not buying an electric vehicle, but good to go ahead and set it up as a selling point. (not selling anytime soon) He also found the power switch for the front fountain and the pump actually worked. The fountain cannot be put in service until it gets a good cleaning It is full of old water and leaves. He also found the wire tap to the 30 amp breaker was just a type of capacitor for the dryer his recommendation just leave it.

Got the old house mowed and my wife cleaned the inside for the buyers just a little over a week before closing and we will be back to one house to maintain again. They will take all the boxes that we empty.

Today yard work at the new house after the dew evaporates but before the 90s hit.

We are using the pool each evening, The large live oak to the west throws a shadow on the pool in the evening so the water does not get too hot and we don't need sunscreen.

7:22 am the fountain on the pool just started, time to start working.

Kyle with a weather vane like that who cares if it's not accurate.

71 outside this AM, heading to lower 80's. I need to do some mindless task like wash the equipment down and get the truck cleaned up for another road trip.

Frits, you have to play hardball. An immediate neighbor did some "landscaping" many years ago. We attempted to talk about the situation he was creating, but it did not go well. Now over the years part of my property floods regularly because of his actions. I hope for the best in your situation.

Hope all have a great weekend, early Father's day best wishes to you all. Be safe.

What are the chances that your brother will stop in to see you on his way up?
he heads West Bill from where he is and North all the way up the peninsula. so no chance
I have to go pretty far out of the way home to see him but at least it avoids driving on Rt 95

turns out my lunch event is right near Ringing Rocks park
?
An eight-acre geologic wonder, the Ringing Rocks boulder field
consists of primordial igneous diabase boulders that resonate when struck by a hammer.

I think I went on a high school science class trip here. Not sure if they gave us hammers.

   / Good morning!!!! #191,871
had to look it up
good hard rock for road construction

diabase, fine- to medium-grained, dark gray to black intrusive igneous rock.
It is extremely hard and tough and is commonly quarried for crushed stone, under the name of trap.
Although not popular, it makes an excellent monumental stone
and is one of the dark-coloured rocks commercially known as black granite.

Yes it is now in motion and legal action hanging over the neighbor by the State Department of Environment is a powerful incentive to comply with the recommendations But the wheels turn slowly on this so will likely take time to resolve

84F and sunny in Northern Nevada today. Glad it is not 100F.

Kyle-- our neighbors have peacocks. Wow they can be loud!!

Been busy with camping, travel, chores, and picking up our new pup.

Our new little guy is Rigby -- here is a pix with he and his mom. This pix makes him look a bit chunky, not sure why. He has been "home" for 24 hours now and all is going well. More pix coming I am sure!

Everyone have a great day !!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 5:45AM. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 89F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday's Fire Warning is today's Red Flag Warning, starting at 11 tonight and lasting 8PM tomorrow.
I'm doing the limit in a construction zone and you blow by me and screw up busting your mirror on my truck and expect me to pay for it, you are on drugs!
Sounds like the same kind of idiot that cries about hooking something on a trailer hitch on a truck that is head in parked. Maybe they need to pay more attention to their driving...

More puppy pics, please...🤗

Slow day yesterday until it kicked into high gear at 5PM when I went to pick up a 6'x12' U-Haul trailer. That went well enough, except I forgot to get gas before and had to jockey the thing around the Costco pumps. No damage done, but I did scrub one sidewall pretty well. Got home and hitched the trailer to the Kubota side-by-side to get it backed up to the rear of the house, dodging landscape rocks and a fire ring in the process, and there went the first hour. Neighbor came over to lend an extra set of eyes, and actually loading the trailer proved pretty simple thanks to the nylon rope winch. Also unhitched the trailer and put the jack all the way up to get a flatter transition between the drop down tail gate and deck, but almost forgot to put a jack under the back to the front of the trailer from skyrocketing. Hitched it back to the Ford, and made it back out of the obstacle course missing by fractions of an inch. Then just left it on the truck for the trip up the hill in 4WD, then swapped over to the van. Finished by 9:30PM. Neighbor missed his son's party, but I made it better with a Benjamin to show my appreciation. Didn't sleep well last night, so it's gonna be a long drive south today.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

RNG,
how about I take you to dinner at La Botte in Lompoc on Monday Sept 23?
I need to be picked up in Buellton on something other than a motorcycle.
I already made reservations there though I could stop and meet you along the way but hopefully not too far away
for a serious traveler like yourself.

or wherever you want to go (that is not too noisy...sorry)
if that means you want to barbecue at the new house, your choice.
But I'm offering dinner.
6pm dinner reservation please unless we can get a blue plate special at 5... ;)
if you could arrange a Vandenberg rocket to be shot off during dessert, well I can't wait.

Morning all, 69 going to 83 and sunny.
Storms were loud last night, but produced little rain here.

May get out to use the tractor to finally clear up the silt/build up in the trench and take it back to manageable.

I have a lot of coworkers around Toronto, they tell me even the suburbs are big $$

Be well,

Good morning! Low of 55°, heading up to 86°. Yesterday, got another 1/4" of rain, stayed in the mid 70's all day. A nice break from Thursday, which hit 98°. Should stay in the mid to upper 80's all next week.

GS's 11th BD was yesterday, had a pizza party for him. Ice cream cake for dessert. He got a couple gift cards and a couple Lego sets. Those sets are expensive! His dad got him a large set that he has been wanting..... I'm sure it will occupy him today.
He already assembled the smaller "off road vehicle" at our table last night!

Fritz, hopefully the pond issue will get fixed now that the proper authority will be watching.

Kyle, definitely a neat weather vane.... but, does she turn into the wind?

I, too, am requesting more puppy pics please!

An order came in from Temu this past week, some replacement outdoor solar lights for the driveway fence and some new solar walkway lights. Got them installed but haven't remembered to take some nighttime pics......
The walkway lights are like mini tiki torches, even have a "flickering" effect. Wifey likes them.

Still haven't taken the garden tractor for a ride yet. Maybe today. The grass / weeds are getting really tall, especially over the septic field. Probably cut the fields sometime this week.

The hot weather finally tripped the asiatic lilies to bloom. Only a couple didn't come up in the block, need to get some replacements in there this week. Needed to see which color to use.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Need to trim up some of those willows.... crazy growth this year! Some of the lower branches are touching the ground.

BIL is on the final leg of his cruise to Alaska. He has been sending a lot of beautiful pics. We are glad he had a good trip. The peanut gallery has been relatively quiet.... They only made a couple stupid comments....

Now going out on the porch to finish second cup of coffee, enjoy the cooler morning, and watch the birds empty the feeders.....

Everyone have a great day!

73F and sunny @ 11:15, heading up to around 79F for the day's high.

Got more cabbage and broccoli plants in the ground first thing yesterday until the sun started making an appearance where I was planting.

The ones we had planted the day before were undisturbed ... (y)

Then headed up to the shop and started working on welding up friend's loader bucket in the AC.

Got that done and got it loaded in the van.

Then went back to planting more cabbage and broccoli until dark.

Amazon delivered Lock-N-Lube coupler.

From the looks of the remaining plants on the shelves, we're probably better than halfway on the cabbage and broccoli ... (y)

Woman is out there now watering them.

Agenda for today:

Dole out another week's worth of meds.

Get cleaned up.

Run over friend's place, drop off bucket, tomato plants, and large crescent wrench and pick up the rest of the fencing and cattle panels.

More cabbage/broccoli planting when I return.

Dig up sprinkler timer and get that second soaker hose placed.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Think I'll be spending a good bit of time up in the shop in the AC catching up on stuff in the coming days once the heat wave arrives:

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)
